Historic Movie theatre with everything you need as movie fan. The space is perfect for hangouts. Their patio is perfect for an outdoor drink before a movie. They also have a cozy lounge area. You can always count on the music box for an evening or matinee of entertainment. Support your local business. Music box stands out on beautiful Southport!

One of my favorite theaters to watch a film in all of Chicago-land. The look & feel of the venue interior is a treat in itself & they are celebrating their 90th year in business as of 2021! The space is always tidy & the staff members are all quite friendly, not to mention the always interesting film programming all year round. I've visited here countless times over the years but, on a recent trip to watch a Pedro Almodovar double feature, it appeared to me that management made a point to update to new, more comfortable seating in the main room. If you haven't been here in a while, you should treat yourself to a return visit asap. Music Box truly deserves your support!

The Music Box is hands down the best movie theatre in all of Chicago. Their screenings have brought me so much joy over the years and I have made so many wonderful memories there (ie. watching 2001 on 70mm, meeting director Alex Cox, countless late night screenings of The Room). It s the one place I miss the most during quarantine and I can t wait to be there opening weekend as soon as they reopen again

This is my single most favorite cinema in the worl...

This is my single most favorite cinema in the world. It s an incredibly beautiful space accompanied by a great selection of films. They always screen art house and foreign films that you will not be able to see elsewhere along with relevant revivals.

It s such a beautiful space and well-maintained. I do always check online to see if a showing is going to be in the main theatre or the screening room. The main theatre is amazing - the screening room is fine, but I would not prefer to watch a film there. It has maybe 12-20 seats and is just not ideal to me. It would be a great space to hold a private event.

Some of my favorite memories here include seeing a 70mm version of Disney s Sleeping Beauty or a screening of Valley of the Dolls. Theatrical runs are also great, I was able to see Suspiria here which was incredible and fully different than it would have felt at a contemporary theater.

Love love love the music box. It's always so fun and they have the best movies too. It's a great alternative then going to a regular movie theater. I also like the nice little lounge bar area they have.
