Absolutely stunning.

Absolutely stunning.
A return trip to Japan a stone's throw from Paris. Allows you to spend an hour walking in different atmospheres.
3 euros entry.
Deplorable and insulting welcome from the management. The staff are quite nice.

What a disappointment for me who knew this garden several years ago: everything is mediocre: dead pines in the Vosges forest, the Japanese corner dried up and full of disgusting mud, a staff screaming in the alleys not allowing the usual meditation . As for the reception: deplorable: an inelegant staff, being zealous with vulgarity, speaking loudly, pushing visitors too slow to take their entrance tickets. For me, the dream is over, I will not set foot there again.

Little explanation even during heritage days (or the quality depends on the speaker). The garden has no vocation "botanical" so absolutely no workshop gardening / discovery of nature. The Japanese garden is moderately Japanese and moderately pretty ...

In the early 20th century, it was a garden created by Albert Kahn, a banker. There is a Japanese garden in addition to French style gardens, British style gardens, orchards. There are bamboos, azaleas, tea ceremonies and small mountains, and they are splendid.

This splendid museum bringing together a space of photographic exhibitions (which could be classified as "photostories from the beginning of the 20th century") and a large garden of the world (English, Japanese, French, rose garden ...) is a little known wonder .
Currently under construction (probably until 2020), access is reduced and can only be done by reservation (information is available on the museum's website).

We went on a Saturday in October and the weather was good so we had a good hour of tail. The park is very pretty with a rose garden, a Japanese garden and also a small exhibition on Albert Kahn. It is a beautiful place that really respects the Asian decor and makes us travel.
However, even if the tones of autumn are very beautiful, it would be really worth it to go there in the spring because notably the rose garden was little flowery.

I went on a guided visit of the gardens while the museum is being refurbished. The gardens are simply stunning, I look forward to seeing the photo collection of different cultures around the world (it is the biggest in the world in terms of number of photos!) commissioned by Albert Kahn more than one century ago. Definitely worth a visit, even during the refurbishment period (until 2020).

4.10 to preserve such beauty, it's really symbolic because once you have passed the entrance gate of the garden ... you are literally transported elsewhere ... This garden is absolutely exceptional and magical. Exceptional because Albert Kahn made this bet to gather 4 kinds of gardens in the same place: Japanese, English, French and English. Magic because you walk out of time in the alleys of this garden. It will not leave you indifferent !!

An exceptional historic site that must be helped by visiting it. Albert Kahn was an exceptional person who believed in humanity and wanted to bring out all the diversity. The garden that we visit after or before the museum is beautiful and breathtaking. One can also become friends of the museum and gardens for a small fee.

The garden has just reopened, but the museum is still closed because the work is not finished.
But it gives me great pleasure to be able to come back to this magnificent Albert Khan garden already. It's such a pleasure to walk there, it's beautiful, it's calm, we go on a trip every time and personally I always take tons of photos;)

About Musée et jardins Albert-Kahn

Musée et jardins Albert-Kahn: Discover the World through Images and Gardens

The Musée et jardins Albert-Kahn is a unique cultural institution located in Boulogne-Billancourt, France. It was opened to the public on April 2, 2022, after five years of extensive renovation work. The museum is spread over four hectares of land and features a combination of new buildings and restored historical structures that pay homage to the site's rich history.

The museum was founded by Albert Kahn, a prominent banker and philanthropist who had a passion for photography. He believed that images could be used as a tool for promoting peace and understanding between different cultures. To this end, he commissioned photographers to travel around the world and capture images of people from different countries.

Today, the Musée et jardins Albert-Kahn continues this legacy by showcasing an impressive collection of photographs from around the world. Visitors can explore various galleries dedicated to different regions such as Japan, China, India, Africa, Europe and America.

One of the highlights of the museum is its autochrome collection - one of the largest in the world - which features early color photographs taken between 1907-1931. These stunning images provide an insight into life during that period in history.

In addition to its photographic collections, visitors can also enjoy exploring its beautiful gardens which are designed to reflect different landscapes from around the world such as English gardens or Japanese gardens. The garden also includes several pavilions where visitors can learn about traditional architecture styles from various countries.

The Musée et jardins Albert-Kahn has been designed with accessibility in mind so that everyone can enjoy it regardless of their age or physical ability. There are guided tours available for those who want more information about specific exhibits or areas within the museum.

Overall, if you're looking for an immersive cultural experience that will take you on a journey around the world through images and gardens then look no further than Musée et jardins Albert-Kahn!
