Very interesting museum, that said many panels of descriptions are damaged ... ripped or scratched I find it aberrative the disrespect of some visitors who even touches while it is forbidden ...
Could do with english translation/audio commentry/ headphones. Fumbling through file is quite challenging
Instructive, I recommend a movie, a translation into headphones available ...
The explanation of the objects is only in French. You will receive a Dutch booklet, but that is limited.
Expensive for what it is. Dated. Very disappointing despite the lady who drives sometimes.
Cold reception of the person. I came with my two children and the lady did not even tell us that there was a session / workshop for the children (we realized this when we saw a lady from the museum talking with a group of children).
Explanations too long and confusing. Non-educational explanations do not go to the essential
Another negative point: Refusal of the culture check
Super museum. Very educational and pieces (polished axes, jewelry of all beauty.
Disappointed! Despite an impressive collection we get lost in the too many panels and the lack of interaction ... a lot of "technical" vocabulary words that are not explained. I was lost at the second panel ...
A few cool passages, but I wish I went out feeling like I didn't learn much.
Museum very nice or we discover pretty things, I took advantage of heritage days to visit, interesting
Nice little museum, presentations and synthetic explanations. The objects and remains come from the corner it makes the visit more concrete, we leave the museum but we still believe it. The top: the view of the Saint Michel tumulus from a museum room.
Very interesting visit on the details of the prehistory of the surroundings. Many relics to observe and explanations and theories about prehistoric Breton buildings!
Great!!!!!
We learn a lot and the guides are just exciting.
I recommend +++
Beautiful collection of prehistoric objects but a messy presentation and viellote, texts sometimes unclear and that do not go to the basics. As is, to avoid for children.
Well presented and very informative
They also managed to tell a human story of the archaeologists who made this discovery on display at the museum. Rare and exciting!
Very nice museum not to miss the demonstration conference on the life of prehistoric man at the end of the course
No photo possible. Very diverse and very interesting museum. Many pieces were found on site in the town of Cagnac.
Very strong guide, he knows what he's talking about, blah visit would be hollow without this Mr.
Really very interesting and yet I'm not a patina of history
We visited this museum with our 9 year old daughter during the holidays. It is an educational place that allows some revisions. Presentation of different periods, with explanations of different ways of life. / Tools / period items .... We really had a good time.
Interesting museum lacking space at the start of the visit.
Reduced educational path for the youngest children.
The Covid crisis certainly does not facilitate.
Good welcome
Nice museum, an interesting collection and lots of info on archeology in the area. I discovered the work of the Pequart family, who in 1928 had a method and a modern vision of archeology. Very inirdant
Thanks to the tour guide who was very informative. We really enjoyed this museum.
The exhibition is in French with a lot of text. There are folders with translation available in English, but this does not work very easily. The exhibition is very extensive and is somewhat dated.
The exhibition rather well done for prehistoric enthusiasts. For the speaker at the end of the visit rather soporific and little interaction with his audience
Very informative and creative prehistoric necklace creation workshop. Thanks to cecilia and vinciane
Very disappointed, apart from the history of menhirs, Welsh / Roman money and the infinite history of the famous Zaccharie, not much material in this museum. The history of Carnac is so much richer than that .. 7 is excessive as price
Very nice complete and informative museum, I find it a shame the late opening time (10am) but apparently it is like this almost everywhere in Brittany ... The artefacts are well presented and highlighted, a temporary exhibition also presents a family archaeologists.
Museum with a very beautiful collection on the period of prehistory. Very nice workshops to do with the family. A very warm welcome.
More interesting than we might think.
We had a nice time
Extremely interesting museum regarding prehistoric France.
Uninteresting. If you are looking for answers to Carnac alignments, do not go
Interesting museum, mini conferences of quality. We enjoyed it so much, the kids were delighted to have learned new things.
This little museum is lovingly designed. Explanatory panels in French and English explain the exhibits. It may take 2 hours to see everything.
Interesting museum. May not be interactive enough for children. But it is worth the detour for the 'after' outside with the guide. Archaeologist passionate about Prehistory. We could listen to it for hours. Thank you for this exchange and this passion. We are divided with another idea of prehistoric men.
It's good to start before seeing the megaliths. A bit long if you want to read everything. I hope that the end of COVID will soon make it possible to give back audio guides.
I think that with the explanations of archaeologists it can be fascinating.
Good info about the local (pre)history, not so good for kids, make sure you pick up the translation book if you don't speak French.
Very informative. Well laid out museum. Just wish some of the information cards in the displays had larger text. Some of the other information boards have damaged text and need improvement.
Very interesting museum with a lot of objects and lots of explanations. We fell during a weekend or activities were proposed to experiment various techniques (braiding of ropes, size of stones, light a fire, etc ...).
Century archaeologists of primroses .... intetessing
Extremely informative museum on Gaul from the Mesolithic to the Roman invasion. Qualified and perfectly welcoming staff.
The visit allows you to learn a lot about prehistory. The written comments are pleasant to read. As soon as you enter, the different periods are defined and put into perspective what you see later. I was surprised by the charts on the evolution of the sea level.
Hard-to-access material presented in a very old-fashioned way. As a tourist who does not speak French enough, it is not enough for you. Almost all text signs are in French. You have to do it with a small leaflet (in your own language) that does not make much of what you see clear. For children it is not visual enough. No modern media techniques. Old-fashioned dusty models. Even in the bookshop almost no foreign-language books. All this in a tourist place like Carnac! This museum is totally not geared to that. Pity.
A bit dated and old fashioned as a museum. Too much text, explanations not very clear.
Not much wiser because there are so many already, and everything is in French.
Very interesting to visit but a bit messy on the line of action to follow, but otherwise very nice to visit, in addition to visiting the megaliths of the area
Too many things in a cramped museum and too little explanation. Interesting to see all the same.
Molto interessante, ci sono parecchi reperti. Adatto ai bambini.
Very interesting, but do not expect to see dinosaur skeletons. It's safer tools and the use of stone.
Very complete and dense museum with information on the prehistoric and Paleolithic period. The temporary exhibition is pretty well staged, it's very nice.
Magnificent. Sectoral explanations are offered from time to time. They are wonderful
Would love to leave a review, but despite Google saying the most popular day to visit is a Tuesday, as of the 1st September it is closed on Tuesdays....
Very interesting tour to understand the alignments of Carnac and the surrounding area
This was an unexpected treasure and gave us a lot of interesting information about life in neolithic times which made connections with our experience of Cornwall. Great!
