We have given this place more opportunities than I care to mention. Fine for a pint, but the food has always been a disappointment. As a local I would love to support them more, but I have left half-eaten burgers and even had to send a beer back once!

Really cool atmosphere. Slightly metallic tasting draft beer, sub par meat pie, and sub par bangers and mash, but the atmosphere kind of makes up for it. The food came out suspiciously fast. Like 4 min after ordering it. Usually if you order a "meat pie" like at Henry House it takes about 20 minutes for it to arrive. This just tells me they are reheating precooked food and you can really taste it especially with the bland taste and quality. The staff was really quite unhelpful as well when we asked them their recommendations.

First experience of dining at this charming Pub, was a very pleasant one. Obviously due to Covid, the full use of the establishment was restricted in areas, but what was allowable was enjoyable. Great friendly prompt service, the food was well made, portions were great and the atmosphere was very laid back. The real treat however, was the beautiful Mahone Bay scenery that no amount of Covid can neither restrict nor destroy. The only suggestion I would make for this otherwise perfect Gem, is some sort of child friendly activity for the Littles who come along for the goods too. I have plenty of ideas-cost effective and educational too :)

The food was absolutely horrible. We got a Ruben and a beef dip and both of the ciabatta buns were stale and the meat was tough and old. The meat beef dip was both hot and cold, and was impossible to chew through. The kids popcorn chicken is just frozen cheap chicken that tasted freezer burnt and artificially flavored - even my child wouldn't eat it. Don't waste your money here! When I told the server she seemed unsurprised - not that it is her fault! The service was okay, but the food definitely was not.

The gravy is good, the beef in the Mug pie is good though there is a lot of dough and no vegetables and the mashed potatoes were cold. The fish tacos were battered and you could only taste batter and bread. The Rubin sandwich was good, as were the Jack burgers. The fries are frozen and not fresh. The potato skins were alright, a big soggy and not a lot for the price. Entire meal came to about $90, our waitress did not attend to us and we had to seek another waitress to take our drink orders since the original walked away mid order taking. The glasses and silverware were dirty which definitely impacted appetites. Lots of interesting decorations inside, but the atmosphere was not the best as the staff seemed tired/uninterested. Definitely not the best for the buck but not the worst. Very middle ground place to eat.

Great pub! We stopped in Mahone Bay as one of our last stop's before returning to Halifax in the same day. The place was a great experience and we enjoyed good chowder and a few good pints!

Worth the stop.

A trip to Mahone Bay is simply not complete without a trip to Mug and Anchor. We go here everytime - unless they are packed and the wait is too long. But trust me - the wait is always worth it! This place reignited my love for scallops after having a few bad experiences at other restaurants. Their beef meat pie is exceptional, fish and chips are amazing, and their hamburgers are really tasty. Great app menu, too! They are always really friendly and accommodating to groups with young kids. Plus, you can't beat the view from the back patio. We will forever be fans of this place

My parents, for some reason, love to go to the Mug and Anchor - especially to take visiting friends and relatives for a 'special' treat. Quite honestly, I was there a few months ago again for a family gathering and fell ill again after More

Best Clubhouse sandwich and fries ever. Went back the 2nd night for scallops and fries. Scallops were so fresh, not battered and served in a shell bowl. The Curse of Oak Island crew love to eat and drink here. The second night they were running a trivia night. Staff are top notch. A lot of locals and they make everyone feel as though they are local, so laid back. More lighting between buildings to back parking area (5 or 6 cars max) would make me feel more secure. I bought the nice size beer glass. Bringing my family to the area, so relaxing!

Great meal on a warm Saturday afternoon. Our server, Melissa, was most engaging. She had a great sense humor and made the visit even more enjoyable. Little doubt why this venue is so popular

Worst food and service I experienced while in NS. Stopped for dinner Sunday August 18 and ordered the lobster sandwich special. It tasted like it has been sitting out for a week. I told the waitress I couldn't eat it and she just took my plate away without comment. Also, waited over 15 mins for initial service, and then more than 20 mins once our beer was done and were not asked if we wanted anything else - just had our bill presented to us. What a waste of a beautiful spot.

Authentic Oceanside pub. Awesome beer selection(22 on tap), and their seafood chowder was out of this world.

Dining Patrons beware: This place used to be good. Not anymore!!!! Food is subpar and completely over priced. Just because it says Home made - does not mean it will be delicious. We have had better burgers at fast food joints. And Expensive: server asked, if we wanted fries or salad and then charged us an extra $6 for choosing salad (1/8 of a plate of oversauced romaine leaves ) instead of fries; also a tea cup of clam chowder is $9!!! The owners have lost their tastebuds as well as all reality when it comes to pricing. We don t mind spending money for dining out but at least make the food and service worth it. The Servers make you feel as though you are a waste of their time. Not at all friendly. Save your money and time and head anywhere but here. Worst dining experience we have had in a long time. If you do go, drink and eat somewhere else.
