Movistar Team is a professional cycling team based in Spain that has been in existence for over four decades. The team comprises of three different squads, including the men's and women's teams, as well as an esports team. With a rich history and a strong presence in the world of cycling, Movistar Team is one of the most successful teams in Spain.

The Movistar Team was founded back in 1980 by José Miguel Echavarri, who was also its first manager. Since then, it has gone on to become one of the most successful cycling teams globally, with numerous victories under its belt. The team has won several Grand Tours such as Giro d'Italia and Vuelta a España.

The Men's Squad

The men's squad is made up of some of the best cyclists from around the world who have come together to form one formidable unit. Some notable riders include Alejandro Valverde, Nairo Quintana and Marc Soler among others.

Alejandro Valverde is undoubtedly one of Movistar's most successful riders having won several races throughout his career including La Flèche Wallonne five times and Liège–Bastogne–Liège four times. He also won UCI Road World Championships back in 2018.

Nairo Quintana joined Movistar back in 2012 after winning Tour de l'Avenir earlier that year. He went on to win Giro d'Italia two years later before finishing second at Tour de France twice (in 2013 & 2015). In addition to these achievements he also won Vuelta a España once (in 2016).

Marc Soler joined Movistar back in 2015 after winning Tour de l'Avenir earlier that year too. He went on to win Paris-Nice race last year which was his biggest victory so far.

The Women's Squad

Movistar women’s squad was created just recently but it already shows great potential with some talented riders like Annemiek van Vleuten or Emma Norsgaard Jørgensen among others.

Annemiek van Vleuten joined Movistar this season after spending last few years at Mitchelton-Scott where she became Olympic champion at Rio Olympics road race event back in 2016 and World Champion twice (in both time trial & road race events) since then.

Emma Norsgaard Jørgensen joined this season too after spending previous seasons at Bigla-Katusha where she had some good results like winning stage at Ladies Tour Of Norway or finishing third overall there too.


Esports Squad
