Mountain Sun Pub & Brewery Review

I spent years going here at least once a week. The staff was amazing, the beers were great. The food was always on point.

I love this place!!! Everybody was so nice, the ambiance is amazing and they have a great deal of choices when it comes to food! I highly recommend it .

A lot of beers, a lot of food, everything was really good.

Lots of veggie options (the Boom Boom sandwich was killer) and a happy vibe.

The service was the best we've ever had. The servers were upbeat and nice, but didn't seem super fake. Our nachos ended up coming out late, but they handled it incredibly well and were amazing about it. I absolutely loved going and am planning on going back soon as I can!

Great beer and great pub food, can get a little on the crowded side, but you can hang out at the bar and sample beers while waiting for your table. Free samples of any of their beers is a fantastic feature. They have anything from your classic west coast IPAs and ambers to barrel-aged coffee stouts and wild-fermented sour beers.

Mountain Sun is one of many series of restaurants/breweries including Southern Sun and Under the Sun. Southern Sun and Mountain Sun have the same menu, which has good options like several quesadillas and burgers. They also have a good selection of tasty beers. Keep an eye out for special events.

Service is usually great, and the price is reasonable.

The only down side of this place is that it's usually at least a 30 min wait around dinner and when you get a table it's so loud that you have to practically yell to talk to someone across from you. If the weathers decent and it's only two of you, snag a seat outside along the sidewalk.

Mountain Sun is a MUST do when visiting Boulder. Our server, Zoey, was very attentive to our needs and brought us samples so we would enjoy our time. Can't wait to come back

My one experience may have been a dud, but none of the beers nor the burger really hit the spot. I hope to go back when I've tried my way through the other bars in town, and could definitely see how it's actually a solid 4; but this one experience was a 3.

Delicious burgers and drinks, reasonably priced. Very friendly service at the bar counter in the back. Service was extremely slow, and the food wasn t too memorable, but we are happy to have come through here.

What a great vibe at this place! Fun lunch with friends in a lively atmosphere! Very welcoming and friendly staff ready to serve and offer suggestions on great beer and food. Enjoy free samples of their beer until you find what you re looking for. If you re lucky, you ll get free fries while you wait for your table...enjoy them as they will be some of the best fries you ll have in your life! Top them with melted cheese and they get even better. Nice choices on the menu, our party enjoyed great burgers (Date Night or Junk were awesome) as well as a steak sandwich. Great local-feel with fair prices on Pearl St. In Boulder. Would definitely return!

February stout month is the best. Visit all locations that month.

Great beers, food, service and very fair prices. I always seem to meet really cool people there as well. This is for sure one of Boulders favorite goto's.

Kitchen is open after most places close and its not as formal as other spots. Place had high turnover with staff for a few years so I took a brake from going but seems to be better now. Not a cheap place but you know you are getting good food and beer. Can't say that about a lot of swanky spots on pearl that cost even more.

Excellent all around -- outstanding beer quality and selection, solid food options (with many vegetarian options) and genuinely pleasant service. It was 10 years between visits for me and I was pleased to see that high standards were maintained.

When I got there and checked the beer list I was delighted to see they sell full pint beers for $6 (see menu), although when it arrived it came in a standard beer glass (see picture). I double checked with the waitress who was rather new to working there, she checked with the manager whether these were the correct glasses for 16 oz beers. She said they were (even though they could not possibly hold 16 oz as advertised).

Then the burger came medium rare and service and food was sub par.

I recommend avoiding!! Go to Boulder beer on walnut instead - they have better lunch specials too.

While waiting for our table we went to the bar and were given any sample of beer that we asked for. The burgers were excellent and the service was awesome. Definitely a place where everyone is so nice and friendly.

Food was OK, but I am convinced the bison in the burger was frozen. Beer was pretty good. Loved the honey ale.

This place is down right boulder. Great food and tasty brews. They do not brew on site so no growler fills

An excellent Brewery on Pearl Street with a wide selection of beer. We went during Stout month and every beer we had was amazing.

All the staff are great and they have a very welcoming atmosphere. FYI you can sample beer before you order and they are very accommodating of it.

Definitely get there before 5 pm if you want a boith and dont want to wait 25 minutes. Great little spot but it gets a bit sweltering inside. Great beer and staff!

I used to go here a lot when I was in college, and it was always a good time. Don't go in expecting gourmet food and great service. It's mostly a college spot, so it's loud and crowded. They also only accept cash, so if you don't want to pay to use the ATM in the back, then make sure you have some cash on you. The beer is ok compared to other breweries in town--I would put it at about average.

Busy little place on pearl street, fairly long wait to be seated, but big selection of beers and food was very good.

Great service, great food, and just a fantastic energy about the place. We were on the front end of the lunch crowd on a Friday, arriving at 11:30, and were seated immediately. Our order included the blackened chicken sammy (w/ Big Krane Kolsch), black bean burger (w/ Annapurna Amber Ale), and make-your-own grilled cheese (with bacon, of course). Everything was delicious. Yes, we are now proud owners of a Mountain Sun t-shirt!

A great restaurant! We waited for a table for 20 minutes and they gave us all the beer samples we wanted plus FREE FRIES! The food was superb and they accommodated my dairy allergy with ease. I can t wait to try the Denver location!

The Spanish Meatballs were so hearty and delicious! Spanish rice and refried black beans paired exceptionally well with the meat and tomato sauce. I would skip the tortilla - tasted like Mission out of a bag.

Mountain Sun seemed affordably priced for Colorado and the food/beer was excellent. I got the current special of the OE 800 burger and was absolutely pleased. The fries were also amazing! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Mountain Sun to anyone visiting Boulder

I enjoy the creative and nutritious food choices as well as the beer selection. If you like craft beer this is good spot for it. They have a nice standard selection, tasty seasonals, as well as guest beers. Cool artwork and friendly environment.

Always friendly service and great beer. The space can get crowded, but worth the wait.

Long wait times for mediocre beer and bland food. If you are into that sort of thing this is your place. The staff is friendly enough but looked as if they are stretched thin.

Food was good and the service was decent for being as busy as they were. Only thing that was a bit odd and kind of a pain was that they dont accept cards. Maybe I'm blind, but I didn't see a sign on the outside stating this, so I was caught a little off guard. They had an ATM in the back, and they only charged a dollar fee to get your money....but that is still an extra dollar I wasn't expecting. Even if they think they are avoiding fees or whatever by not accepting cards, it's 2020. Time to start accepting cards. 8/10

The food and service was great! Unfortunately, it was quite busy and the noise level was so high that it was impossible to have a conversation without raising your voice significantly. Out of curiosity, I started a decibel meter app to monitor the noise level and it remained consistently between 87 to 90 db. Some acoustic ceiling foam or baffles would greatly improve the atmosphere.

Can t beat Mountain Sun for good vibes, warm and tasty pub food and excellent beer brewed in house, along with a strong guest list. Beer staples are great with a constantly rotating specials list. Live music on weekends, and stout month in February is a hit! The best burgers are the Date Night and S.O.B. If you re lucky you might get free fries too.

Shout-out to Zoey and the Mountain Sun staff for great service as well as tasty beer and food! I was recommended this brewery from friends and was impressed with the quality of the service and beer - the Dark Harvest Pumpkin Stout is the best pumpkin beer I ve ever had.

This was the best brew pub experience I've had so far in boulder! The beer flights were amazing and the food was great. Staff was behind friendly and helpful.

Go here for the atmosphere and beer selection?? This is where you go with some friends for a beer. The food is good, but not well priced for the quantity: if you're after burgers, you'll only get a 1/4rd lb of beef vs. Murphy's which gives you between 1/3rd and 1/2 lb for the same price. They raised their prices starting in 2019, but so did many Boulder establishments. Their Southern Sun location (same owners) has considerably more beer selection.

This place was just an awful experience. They will nickel and dime you for everything. I paid $4.00 for a fountain soda that they would only let me get one refill, that is almost 100% mark up. The side of veggies was 2 celery, 2 carrot sticks, 2 slices of cucumber, and some cut up cherry tomatoes. The burger was pretty good, but it was $10 dollars plus charge for fries. Also make sure you ask for ice. It is a cash only place and when I asked to show us what each individual owed...the waiter sighed and made a big deal about doing the math. Just your typical "Boulder" restaurant.

Hipster heaven

If you have spindly arms, a ridiculous beard, and a puffy down jacket then this is the place for you. It also has a great craft beer and wine selection. The food is good with all the modern selections : organic, vegan, gluten free, soy free...
Come early this place gets slammed quick and the turn over is slow cause their is a lot of lively chatter.

This place is amazing. We had the junk burger with goat cheese and the bison burger. We shared the two and they split it up for us! I'm a beer aficionado and the beer selection was superb.

The downside is that they only take cash and checks. BUT if you don't have either they give you a karma envelope. You can then send your payment in or not pay at all. But the service is SO GOOD that you can't not pay.
