Mothership BBQ Review

Very good place in an understated spot. Casual fare, but the food was extremely tasty. Burnt ends (as everyone says) were painfully delicious. Other standouts were the cornbread and mac n' cheese. Beer selection was extensive, with both large and standard formats on offer, in addition to taps. Outdoor seating also available in the back, where band was setting up for a Monday night. Definitely get the sense that this place gets super crowded on the weekends, but worth any effort for sure.

Been here 4+ times already. Always seem busy but could always find a seat. The burnt ends are to die for! -1 for the Brisket: it is not consistently good (twice I ordered it, and were on the dry side). My fave sides: cornbread and Mac & Cheese.

Food comes out fast! And great beer selection. Will come back again when the craving hits

Awesome! But be wise. Take a group and purchase by the pound. Not as heavy on the pocket and more filling than a single portion.

Great BBQ...love the Burnt Ends sandwich! Wish it was a little more spacious

This place is awesome. You can sense that the restaurant is family run the minute you walk in (okay, everyone seems a little bit inexperienced). They are doing their best to serve the customer, but they don't do regular check in with you. I normally would be okay with it, but the day I went was hot and they never refilled my water.

Went in for take out and checked the place out. My pulled pork sandwich was delicious, the beer selection looked good. I will be back

Sit on the patio with some ribs and a pitcher of IPA. What could be bad?

Here goes, this review is long overdue. I've been coming here for ages with my ex and I'm happy to say there's no way she could ruin this wonderful smoked meats experience!

This was my second favorite smoke house in the area but it's now my first. Service is Swift and professional and the space is adequate, with an outdoor portion. They even have a little bar at the back so you can enjoy a cool one alongside your smokings.

You should certainly add this as a destination stop if you're visiting NYC and enjoy this kind of food.

Today the cornbread was ok. Overall food was delicious.

Food was incredible, the cornbread was amazing, the chicken was moist and flavorful, the ribs were delicious and mac and cheese was amazing. No complaints here. Ill definitely be making this place a regular

The corn bread is one of the greatest indulgent sides you can have.

I went with a friend who claimed prior to this experience that there s no good bbq in NYC after this, he retracted the statement. We are from the south so we tend to be more picky for bbq. John Brown s hit the brief.

John Brown's is not what I expected. The food is pricey, portion sizes are small and it is served to you carnival style (on paper). The staff are very nice and friendly, but the food just doesn't measure up. Three sauces were offered: spicy, something that tasted nothing like barbecue sauce, and ketchup (plain ketchup). I enjoy great barbecue and true Southern sweet tea (not watered-down Lipton). This place is not even in the "good" barbecue category ... very disappointing.

Super unpretentious BBQ!!! They let the food speak for itself. The Mac and cheese is what took it over the top for me.

i came here one time so far and i am definitely impressed. I ordered their mac and cheese, corn bread, ribs, burnt ends, pulled pork, brisket, and pecan wings. all of it was amazing! my wife loved their corn bread and burnt ends. i just love bbq and they did not disappoint.

I see why this place has so many good reviews! I had a little get together here for my boyfriends birthday and I was so happy I did. The food was amazing especially the burnt ends, corn bread and Mac & cheese. Everything else was good too but those things made the the experience great. I think they should hire servers, instead of yelling the customers name and having them come get there food however with good like that it really doesn't matter.. Highly recommend!

I dine in this great spot a lot! This is the best place to to have a good dinner. I go there regularly. The food is excellent, the crew is helpful and the cost is fair. I enjoy going in this place over a decent lunch.

This is a great place. The food is fantastic and the atmosphere is nice. Amazing music on the weekends. The only reason I m not gonna give 5 stars is because I asked about gluten free options to two different staff members (once by the phone and once in person) and they had no clue what I was talking about. My kids have celiac disease and I can t take them there. Great place tho.

Not the best BBQ in town, but the best option if you're in LIC.

I have tried almost everything on the menu and I suggest any of there pork items. I really was not overly impressed with anything else though it's all good. The true way you know you are at a real bbq joint is if they serve white bread and this smokehouse does.

There with family tonight and my 9yr old talked about the food all the way home. He asked if he could order cornbread and burnt ends to go, then said can we make this our #1 restaurant when we go out. We love this place.

Burned ends on point, greens were too sweet tasting and mac and cheese had a topping that should not have been on there.

Some of the best BBQ I've had in the tristate area. Pulled pork was delicious, sauce was excellent, fries were awesome. Service was fast and helpful. They have a great outdoor spot in the back but it fills up quick so come early. Small bar area as well with some good beers on tap.

The place was nice and cozy like you're at someone's bbq. I had the opportunity to enjoy a live band and they were amazing. I would definitely come back.

They have the best brisket I ve ever had. Their sauce complemented the meat. The meat is so soft that i didn t need a knife. It s not mushy though, it s perfect. The corn bread tasted like it had corn in it! Haha believe it or not. It s good and affordable.

Fantastic spot to get some food when in a rush. Their service is swift, rates are fair, excellent vibes. I highly recommend this spot.

I had the best time here. The bar in the back has some of the friendliest people. The typical stuff is very good, but if you re looking for a change of pace, try the Rueben.

And yes, it s named for THAT John Brown.

Food is soo good especially if you go midday! No waiter service - you order and sit yourself. Good for a date night or family night. The cornbread is not like your average corn bread its almost like pudding. The most laid back place in LIC. PS reasonable prices for the size of the servings.

It can be a bit pricey ordering from here and would recommend trying to place out if you haven't yet.

Some of the most underrated BBQ in NYC. I usually order a pound of rib tips, can't go wrong.

This place was a very pleasant surprise that we found through a Google search because we were out in Brooklyn and needed some grub after the Hot sauce Expo. The meat was very well prepared and super tasty. The sides were good too...we got the collard greens, hand made fries, mac and cheese and cornbread. Cornbread was sooo good with big pieces of corn. Greens were good too. Mac and cheese was okay and the fries were delicious. The brisket was nice and tender. The pastrami in the Reuben was good too. Definitely no regrets and would go back if I ever find myself in the area again.

KC style BBQ. Get the burnt ends and brisket. The sausage is great if available. Excellent and extensive craft beer selection at the bar in back. Good seating availability and extra seats out in the patio, weather permitting.

I had a great sandwich that I can't remember the name of lol. Sorry guys. But it did have pulled pork and plantain chips. I opted out of the plantain chips and I'm glad I did because my friend had them and he said it disrupted the flavor of the sandwich. Friendly cashier and quick service
