Very sad to find out the museam isn't fully open at the moment. But wasn't informed of that until I was charged for admission. But not only was I charged admission for me and my wife I was also charged for a child. WE DON'T HAVE CHILDREN. And didn't have and of our nephews or nieces with us. I would like to contacted by them. I've left a voicemail so we'll see.
Wonderful family outing! It is small, but there's a surprising amount to do here, and almost all of it is hands-on/interactive. I was a little surprised, but we've been able to keep an 11 year old entertained for several hours on more than one occasion. The ropes course is fun, the planetarium is cool, and we've had great experiences with the Minecraft classes and summer camps. MOSI is definitely worth a visit!
An easy way to beat the heat and spend a few hours learning and playing. I d recommend for ages 8+ who can get full benefit. The Planetarium host was quite knowledgeable and it was worth the extra cost.
Great learning environment for children concept. Its seen better days. It needs to have a serious revamp. The Imax is horrible. Screen is in serious need of reconditioning and the projector seems to be run by an amateur. The film I recently watched kept having sound levels fluctuating and the film was consistently out of focus slightly. Very bad.
Went here for a field trip. Crazy amount of kids. But it was fun and kids had a great time.
Great science museum with many interactive exhibits (even a hurricane simulator - not the standing tube kind, a sit down experience) that the whole family will like. Standard admission includes one showing in the IMAX Dome theater.
We had a nice time. Although it seems geared to only one age group.
Great location close to USF campus where I work. Some of the science activities are nice and actually educational. The gift store is great. The restaurant food is terrible. Nothing you want to feed your child. My son is a great fan of the blue foam blocks nice area for a break for parents too. The drum noise nearby is however maddeninf. I dont see the benefit of it for children other than making terrible noise. Some of the equipment in kids zone ia broken or missin parts. Toilets almost always need attention. Carpets smell bad too. The playground outside is really nice but it has no tent above it so being in Tampa it is pretty mucg useless since the weather is either too sunny or rainy to play outside unless there is some protective tent.
Looks pretty cool. Unfortunately my little one was having a bad day so I didn't get to experience the whole thing. It looks organized and fun to explore. BUT I did hear it used to have WAY more. What happened? Why are you holding out on that science, guys? I get it. Things happen. Still very enjoyable.
Great place for kids to learn all kinds of interesting science based things
Wish it was bigger.. wanted to see more but ok for the price
I've heard great things about MOSI, but it was disappointing. The vast majority of interactive things were just a button to hear about a topic. There were also a lot of things broken. Some things were fun or interesting, but we won't be rushing back.
Its decent. Not nearly as big as it looks. We went through it in an hour, but I'd say you could spend about 3 hours max if you look at and read everything.
Another science museum... Yes but this one was pretty cool. Lots of puzzles, expirements, and physical things to do... Bed of nails, hurricane tube, tug or war, move a ball with your brain. Outdoor climbing tower is extra $ ... And requires tennis shoes... So leave your flops at home!

Great place for small children and teens. Adults will enjoy it too. Highly recommend.
I went here as a kid and I haven't been back in a while. IMAX is closed and roughly it's half the size I remember. I wish there was more stuff for older kids/adults like the butterfly garden etc.
My son and I loved the skywatch event tonight! We really enjoyed seeing Saturn, Jupiter, and a binary star I can't remember the names of. I really appreciate the time and knowledge the staff shared with us at this free event!
Fun place to spend the afternoon. People in the HAM Radio shack were very nice. Some of the exhibits need repair. Nice to see them refreshing some areas as of late.
We came 2 years ago and it was awesome. Today it was super disappointing from the girl at the desk Iesha with her cold unfriendly demeanor to half the place closed due to moving in 5 years! Lol 5 yrs?! So upset there was hardly anything to do.
It's great place to bring the kids, and adults that are kids at heart.
It was fun for the kids and very interactive. Little crowded.
In 20 years they have not done anything to make this place even the slightest bit interesting.. I felt so guilty for taking the kids there.
Its a great place for kids we go strait to kids in charge area with a stop or two before we stop and see the body they have on display and then the art and science room and its always changing fun for my 5 and 6 year old boys and the 2 or old twin I babysit for
Loved the place as a kid, but then I visited the real MSI (not mosi) in Chicago which beats this one thousands of times. Your kids can make their own toys, among other kid themed areas can burn more energy and adults enjoy it all because it's all amazing and educational.
Not worth the trip to be honest. I always look to donate to a local museum and old MOSI reminded me of amnh from NYC where I came from but the trip was extremely unpleasant to find out what I wanted to see was completely closed for Good. It's sad o expected better
Although the museum was intended for young ones, our age group was from 17 to 22, and we loved it! It's super fun and eye opening for all ages.
Tons of activities for kids to learn. It has a lot for the whole family.
It's just a great science museum. You can learn a lot from the exhibits and experiments they have on display. And sometimes they have special exhibits like the human body. Both kids and adults can benefit from the experience.
Some parts of MOSI are great, but majority of it seems dated and hardly engaging. Many kids attending have no clue how to use a rolling ball and a cursor on a computer screen.
My 2 & 3 year old really liked this place. I would say that they were a bit too young to really enjoy it. It s a good thing that it was slow.
Fun place to take kids. Wish they were open longer hours.
We have been to several of these types of museums and this one was lacking enough to keep you entertained.
Awesome place to spend a quite Saturday or Sunday. Not overpriced. Had a fantastic time and learned new things.
The shut down more than half of the museum and it sucks now
We have a great experience, but the the place has no trash bins around.
Very disappointed not for children under 5 at all. Not worth the price if your trying to entertain a 3 year. My child wanted to play on the playground only. We can do that for free anywhere.
They should let people know that it s changed and that it s not as big as it used to be and that it only caters to older kids. Maybe put a map at entrance so people know the changes.
I really Enjoyed the show at the planetarium as I'm currently taking a course on astronomy and I was surprised how much I've retained about the stars, constellations, planets and Galaxy and still have so much more to learn. Wether you are a star gazer or amateur who enjoys the night sky, check out the amazing presentation at Museum of Science and Industry.
Awesome place for family fun!
So many activities for all ages, you can easily spend a day. Prices are reasonable, too.
Great exihibts explaining many types of science for younger kids.
This musuem used to be so cool years ago, I've been so disappointed in renovations that they've done. The exhibits are super tiny, maybe a quarter of the size they used to be; they completely did away with the second floor, the butterfly garden is gone, the cafeteria, the gift shop, and the library- all gone. If you're looking for a great sicence musuem, there's one right over in Orlando and way down in Miami. MOSI is like the size of a convenient store now, not worth the money. Thanks for the memories MOSI, wish you were still there.
Is fine, but you wish to find something more interesting
Very disappointed. I would say 85% of the displays were broken. That coupled with the 22 dollar price tag left me very much underwhelmed. I would not recommend this to family and friends. As a family of 6, we will look for alternate destinations.
Take your kids spend a couple hours exploring out of the house. Plenty of sanitizer stations, masks required, and covid measures have been taken altering exhibition.
I was extremely disappointed! Luckily we got in with our Florida Aquarium pass, and only needed to pay for one ticket, otherwise I would have fought for a refund. There is literally one room of activities. Anything our kids were remotely interested in, cost extra! I don t understand why a museum dedicated to learning through experience would exclude certain experiences from children?? For example all the rooms like the rainforest room and moon base are not available to children not in groups who have paid for them. At least this is what the person at the front desk told me. What is the point in paying an admission fee if you don t get to experience all that MOSI has to offer? Won t be going back.
So much fun for toddlers and entire family! Get an annual pass or visit during Swaptember if you have zoo or aquarium passes.
If its not too far then its worth the trip. The classes are an awesome addition though and they ARE worth a drive
Nice place for a fieldtrip of learning and fun.
The planatarium is fantastic. We miss some of the attractions such as the Large Hurricane Experience,Beautiful Butterfly Garden Avery ,gift shop and Restuarant.
we still had a pretty nice day.
I can not express how disappointed I was when I went and saw that the butterfly garden was abandoned, the gift shop shut down, and the IMAX theater was permanently closed. MOSI was the biggest inspiration to me as a child and now it is just a shell of what it once was. Fortunately, the planetarium is still holding shows but there's hardly anything left besides that.
This fun family place. I really can't find a single negative thing to say about my experience. Excellent service. Would definitely recommend people coming here. The family had amazing and it good clean family fun. The rest room was clean and kid friendly. Happy family a happy life
Went there for the IMAX only. Beautiful theater. The ticketing was efficient. Seats were comfortable. We should have chosen seats in one of the higher rows for the best view. Sound was loud. Next time I would bring earplugs.
Overall a fun place to visit, even though the size of the museum has been greatly reduced.
Great place for the family! We went with my 3 year old niece, 3 year old daughter and 10 year old daughter and all three girls had a blast ! Rhe price is very reasonable as well. Very neat place
Used to have a lot more small child friendly exhibits but they had to condense with the move and I guess that had to go. Good for older kids, my toddler didn't get much out of it just yet. I hope they will expand again at some point, the good staff and the vision for a cool learning experience is all there!
Expensive for the experience that I have there . Not works in that place ... Rip off money experience!
The recent down sizing has left a lot to be desired. We were very disappointed. No more dinosaurs and very little to do. It took us less than an hour before the kids were bored and ready to leave. Not worth the cost to go in.
Excellent place to take the kids or even a movie. Saw Star Wars there in there IMAX theater and it was awesome! There's so much to see and do that you can easily spend an entire day their just looking around. Parking is free with the cost of admission
We didn't actually pay for entry, we were getting info but it seemed nice. There's a free section that looks like info on space.
Good for kids. Lots of hands on displays. Also has an imax movie theater.
This place is a joke! I hated it, i paid so much for nothing, not like regular science and industry musiems at at all. my family and i felt so stupid to be in that place we did't even wait for our showtime at the dome theatre. We left rightaway.
Thought we would be in & out. It appeared to be small. BIG SURPRISE! We arrived at 1 and were still building st 5. The kids(14yrs to 3yrs) loved it. It stretched all of our imaginations. Would definitely recommend for all ages
Me and my wife enjoyed our visit and had a great time! Fun educational experience and nice IMAX theatre
Pretty weak. The IMAX theater is cool of course, but it's no different than any other one. The museum seems half-finished. There's bare, unfinished concrete everywhere and a number of exhibits that are open to the public but seem incomplete.
The small exhibit on 3D printing is neat but was lacking in some sort of demonstration aspect - which is exactly the strength of the technology! The disaster exhibit, similarly, had a couple props that were interesting to look at but was lacking in any real depth. Most of the displays simply discussed how to prepare for each disaster type. The electricity and magnetism section had the expected Tesla coil/plasma globe/Jacob's ladder displays, which were neat. The turbine blade which they claimed was generating electricity was clearly driven by an electric motor. The rest of the displays were either unimpressive, lacking in detail or broken.
The rest of the museum was taken up by a very large exhibit on health and the human body. The overwhelming number of displays here were simply bits of text to read with a video or quiz. Pretty dull overall - I felt that most of this was covered in my high school health class, and the rest could be found on a short trip through the internet. We got halfway through before we started skimming the countless PSA's on a healthy lifestyle and moved on.
All told, the supposed kids zone ended up being the best part! It had a large number of interactive exhibits, puzzles, and even a cool NASA-funded area with a pre-show, light-up moonbase model and some moon-themed simulations. (Though it's just running Moonbase Alpha, which you could download and play at home.) They had a number of life-sized displays, including an Apollo heat shield, a lunar lander model, and what appears to be a real biplane!
Outside, there's a a garden with some trees [descended from trees] that were in historical events, and a small butterfly garden. We didn't pay for the ropes course.
Overall, I'd say it's not the worst thing you could do if you're looking to kill a couple hours, but it's pricey for what you get.
Pleasure to have a museum that has full of historic events.
We had a great time here. There is a lot for kids to do.
Don't waste real money to go here! At least in my opinion, was very little here, might entertain a child for a few minutes, but I cant guarentee. Watch out they have brochures all over town that say they have 400 + hands on exhibits, an IMAX theater, i asked them and they say, we cant be responsible for brochures that might be old. Are you serious?! It's your business, I traveled all over the Tampa area and saw the same ad.
Very educational. Hands on science experiments for kids. Clears lots of concepts. It's ideal for kids above 7.
we bought the annual pass, and was a little disappointed in how small MOSI is. The best part of the annual pass is probably the reciprocal privileges to other locations. My favorite part of MOSI is the bed of nails which you can find at the entrance. The planetarium show is pretty cool. There's also a number of other fun things to do with your children as a way of learning.
