Montreat Conference Center Review

Great place for hiking near Asheville. Trails are well marked and heavily traveled by visitors. Small college campus located here afforded convenient facilities and safe parking.

Absolutely amazing trail system and playgrounds here.

Special place nestled in the mountains of western NC. Rooms are comfortable and updated. I stayed in a handicap room so the bathroom was great with a large walk in shower. Large lobby area with lots of great couches for reading. Lovely outdoor areas for more relaxation. Dining is ok--don't expect more then an average dormitory style meal. They don't serve alcohol here. Just water or ice tea. Would happily come back.

Photographed a wedding here in November of 2017 and loved it. There were so many great locations to shoot around the campus and on the hiking trails just up the hill from the campus.

I really appreciated that everything was so close - the bridesmaids got ready in a house on campus, the groomsmen in the hotel, the ceremony was at Black Mountain Pres, then the reception back on campus. It made my job super simple and allowed for an easy timeline! I'd love to come back and photograph here anytime!

Montreat may be the smallest city on the map (2.5 by 2.5 square miles) but it's serenity and striking architecture is bigger than anything. The stone buildings and bridges give the place solid beauty.

All the rooms in Assembly Inn have recently been updated and they are first rate. It is just like staying in a nice hotel plus you get the added benefit of the super friendly and helpful staff. There is also amazing history to this place and it is nestled in the mountains for great access to hiking and peaceful rest.

This is a conference center not a hotel. The bathroom is smaller than a cruise ship. The sank for the bathroom is actually out in the living area. There is no shampoo provided. You do for arb you are provided with sheets blankets pillows and soap. There's no TV, Fitness center, pool or hot tub. Only 1 stuffed chair for the 2 of us to share. A Perfect monastery experience.

It's spectacular. My first time here for our Church Conference. Love the stone, the historic feel and the surrounding area. Rooms upgraded albeit small, but that lends to the history of the facility. Hope to come back in the fall with the turning of the season.

If you ever visit Montreat, you will never forget it. Montreat is a conference center near Asheville, North Carolina that is tucked away in a cove in the mountains. Associated with the Presbyterian Church, they hold a variety of conferences throughout the year. The facilities are also available for rent to other groups for large conferences or even for family reunions. There are houses and lodges you can rent, or an inn where you can stay. There is a a college campus there as well. For recreation, there are tennis courts, a ball field, paddle boats on Lake Susan and 21 hiking trails. There are a couple of gift shops as well. Going to Montreat is always a very relaxing and fun experience. No matter how many times I go, I always hate to go home and leave Montreat behind.The best plan is find a friend who owns a house at Montreat so you can go frequently.

As close as we southern Presbyterians get to heaven on earth!

Life changing. From setting to staff, I felt the whole experience on a new level. Summer high school conferences work miracles through everyone. I was a camper for ninth through twelfth grade, and want to continue being involved. The Anderson Auditorium, the Huckleberry, the creek, Lake Susan, even every little open field was sublime. Both the creek and lake Susan have perfect trees for setting up a hammock for a peaceful nap. The beauty of the location matched with the friendliness and openness of everyone there is what makes the Montreat experience so surreal. Thank you Montreat!!!!!!!!!

We love Assembly Inn, located in a welcoming Presbyterian community. The site overlooks Lake Susan and has a commanding view of Lookout Hill. It's within walking distance of trail heads, the auditorium, the dance barn, the tennis center, resident cottages, & much more. The stone walls of Assembly Inn are infused with prayer.

You will not find a more peaceful getaway, nicer people, friendly staff, great leadership and caring.
