Moneythink is a non-profit organization that aims to empower students with the financial knowledge and skills they need to succeed in college and beyond. Founded in 2008, Moneythink has been helping students across the United States make informed decisions about their finances, reduce student loan debt, and increase college graduation rates.
At Moneythink, we believe that every student deserves access to financial education. We understand that navigating the complex world of personal finance can be overwhelming for many young people, especially those from low-income backgrounds. That's why we offer a range of programs and resources designed to help students build their financial literacy skills and achieve their goals.
One of our flagship initiatives is DecidED - a free college affordability comparison tool that helps students make informed decisions about where to attend college based on factors such as tuition costs, scholarships, grants, and other financial aid options. With DecidED, students can compare up to five colleges side-by-side and get personalized recommendations based on their unique circumstances.
In addition to DecidED, Moneythink offers a variety of other programs designed to support student success. Our trained mentors work directly with high school students through our Financial Mentorship Program (FMP), providing one-on-one coaching on topics such as budgeting, saving for college or trade school expenses like textbooks or tools needed for classes or apprenticeships.
We also offer workshops on topics such as credit management , investing basics , entrepreneurship , career readiness , tax preparation , home buying & renting . These workshops are led by industry experts who share practical tips and advice on how young people can take control of their finances.
At Moneythink we believe in the power of community engagement . We partner with schools across the country as well as local organizations like Boys & Girls Clubs or YMCA's so that we can reach more young people where they are at - whether it be after-school programs or summer camps .
