Delish margaritas and very tasty homemade food! Salsas were great too!
Five star for their goat cheese guacamole...
Their guacamole in my opinion is one of the best in the nation...
It's so yummy, just order it, you will thank me later
Delicious! I don't care what you order, it will be made well and be full of flavor. Margaritas? Excellent! We had the standard lime margarita and got a sampling of 3 of their specials, pineapple, hibiscus flower, and cucumber. Each were delightful.
For dinner, the house made guacamole is very good, although for me, I prefere a little more citrus in mine, but I might be weird. We both shared the Carne Assad and the lamb/mole enchiladas. They were both unique and delicious and the portions were not tiny, which I appreciated.
Go eat here. You will not be disappointed.
Everything tastes fresh here!, I had the camarones which were just okay, the goat cheese guac was perfect!
Favorite restaurant in Ohio City and maybe Cleveland.
Great place to eat! One of the best places in the area.
Cool quirky decor but in a cramped space with a farm house style bathroom. Based on recommendations and reviews from others the chef messed up the guacamole from its usual recipe when we were there. Tried the guac sampler with trout, traditional and goat cheese guacamoles and all were desperately lacking for salt or flavor, tasted like avocado paste. Pork chop had a bizarre mashed up flavoring with pork rinds crushed up around to add texture. You can tell the chef takes pride in his boldness but at the cost of only appealing to a small number of palettes. Disappointing experience based on friends recommendations.
My daughter and I visited Momocho upon the recommendation of our B & B host. Parking was very convenient at the side of the building. We were quickly seated upstairs- and instructed to use the back staircase when we were ready to leave the restaurant. Service was good - we were greeted and provided water immediately. The drink menu is very interesting with a nice variety of beers. The array of guacamole s was especially intriguing - we had the goat cheese guacamole ($9) as an appetizer and it was really excellent. We had the lamb enchiladas ($17) and trout ($22).
The kitchen side (k.s.) seats were a true gift, providing a birds eye view of every dish being prepared and served. The cooks were extremely knowledgeable and helpful with the food selections. The tequila list was extensive and they even had tequila's little cousin, called Sotol. Service was instantaneous, due to the special k.s. seats. Can't wait to go again!!!
The guacamole and fried ice cream were amazing! Also, the service was spot on.
The street corn was very good, all the food was good but I especially like the corn
Average Sunday night, and we waited over 1.5 hours for two orders of tacos. We sat at the bar, and that poor bartender, who said he was new, took a while to greet us, which was understandable. I guess he forgot to put in our taco order, as we promptly received or guacamole, and then proceeded to wait over 90 minutes for our tacos. The bartender eventually checked in, asking if we wanted another round. I said no thanks, but I'd love my tacos. Another 30 minutes and a free Margarita later, they finally came. Pork belly was delicious, chicken tinga was metiocre. Overall, would I go again, yeah maybe on a weekday, would I sit at the bar, no. Good food, good drinks, poor service.
Outdoor, dog friendly seating. Diverse menu, definitely shareable.
The staff was great, even though we were the obnoxious customers who run in minutes before closing. The app was delicious but the margaritas... so glad they offer margaritas flights because you must try several. They are all so good and we're not usually a fan of flavored margaritas.
Lively, colorful, eclectic atmosphere. Delicious food and cocktails (mango spicy margarrrrrita) Reservations highly recommended on popular nights or wait for first come first serve bar seating which we did on a Saturday night for 30 minutes. Well worth it.
One of my favorite places if not my #1!!! The food, the drinks, the shows, I come for it all! I've tried most of the menu throughout the years I've been coming and have yet to be disappointed. The mole here is to die for!
The best Mexican food around Cleveland. It is kind of expensive, but worth the splurge every once and awhile. I strongly suggest making reservations as this place is always hopping. If you and your group are looking for a place to be loud and and have fun this is it.
Ate here one time. Not sure why people rant and rave about dry, under seasoned food and a less than cheerful wait staff. I went here with a group of friends after numerous recommendations and we were all sorely disappointed. The food we received was dry (as if it had been left under a heating lamp for far too long) and had very minimal if any seasoning. The few times we were checked on, our waitress acted as if we were getting in the way of other things she d rather be doing. The kicker happened at the end when we received our overpriced bill and discovered we d been charged for every bowl of chips and salsa we d been brought. Wouldn t recommend unless you have a proclivity for poor food and poor service.
If you do find yourself in or near Ohio city I suggest TownHall, Soho Chicken and Whiskey, or The Black Pig.
This restaurant is a rare find. The atmosphere is quiet and cozy. The drinks are strong and palatable. The service is attentive and educated.
The meal served to is was amongst the best I have had in months. Flavor and presentation was a modern take with certain authenticity. Not a cheap spot, but the quality reflects the price.
Excellent in both food & service. Guac, scallops, Margaritas, bread pudding: all tip top.
Eclectic mod Mex, but they do a GREAT job with it!
I'm not sure what all the hype is about. The food here was average at best, like I had scallops and they are expensive and the portion was tiny. The service of our waitress was awesome but nothing else really shined, I even tried my friends food and it wasn't that great. Also the drinks are expensive as well.
One of the top 10 places in Cleveland. This place is must and when I am in the area this is the place I want to go. It can be very busy so be willing to wait, well worth it. If you have never been to Momocho you need to go now, what are you waiting for!
Stop reading and go there. Start with guacamole. Loved the sixteen spice chicken
No thanks, I have nothing positive to say for the location.
I went to Momocho for the first time about a month ago with a girlfriend. I ordered the pork belly taquito and thought it was good, but not spectacular--maybe it was because I was too distracted catching up with a friend I hadn't seen in awhile over drinks to pay attention to the food. I tried it again this Thursday with my boyfriend, and was happily surprised at how good our food was. We ordered the lobster fundido, wild boar taquito, and the braised beef brisket and everything was delicious. My favorite dish was definitely the lobster fundido in all its cheesy, buttery, garlicky goodness. Would definitely recommend this place!
I was really looking for a family restaurant,
And this is rather a canteen with snacks,
Very friendly workers, yes,
The food tastes good, but it is far from being authentic Mexican food,
The place is fine, to go have some drinks and gossip for a while ...
The guac here is also to die for. If you're in a group, definitely try the sampler. My favorites are the goat cheese, smoked trout, and regular guac. Be warned---it is A LOT of guac. For main dishes, you can't go wrong with their taquitos. Candidly, I haven't tried much else because the carnitas taquito is hard not to order.
This is an upscale Mexican food place that is to die for. Their chef-made food is seasonal, so it changes all the time.
I love the various, unique guacamoles they make! I once had one that had smoked Gouda and agave nectar in it.... soooo freaking delicious.
On my birthday last year we sat at the chef's table, and got to watch the chef cook all night. He was super friendly and let us try all kind of things for free.
Also, their margaritas are LIFE. Lawwwwd praise it. So good.
My boyfriend took us for our anniversary. Save your money. We sat at the chef's table and got to see how they make food. It's a real guys' atmosphere that is somewhat nauseating as they take themselves ultra seriously despite throwing literal trash covered in cups of sauce at you. The only redeeming thing was a flan made in a steamer, completely genius and delicious.
Well, I previously underestimated this place. We had a rushed meal here several years that was unpleasant. We finally gave it a second try and I'm so glad we did. To start, we had the salsa trio (Verde, Charred Tomato and Pico de Gallo) -- delicious! I had the margarita sampler (blood orange, spicy mango and fruit chimoy) -- all delicious!! Carnitas taquitos with black beans. I mean, the whole thing was fantastic. We will be back soon. I also have to commend the restaurant on their COVID precautions, the friendliness of the staff and a well-paced meal. It was an enjoyable experience from start to finish!
Great neighborhood place with outstanding food and beverage selection.
Mexican food and service here is very good. I love this place. I will be bringing family next time. It has a nice atmosphere. Feels like a place in Los Angeles I loved.
Nice atmosphere and food. Had the coffee brisket ta is and they were very nice.
Awesome food.. salsa & pineapple margaritas yummy!!
Great environment. Always busy. Best margs in town. You can also order the marg mixes to be picked up at a later date.
I have no idea why people are so crazy about this place. I came here and wasn't a fan at all. I had the carne asada and it was well done despite me ordering it medium. By well done we are talking it tasted and chewed like something I would imagine leather to taste like. Cleveland seemed to have a lot of better options for tacos and Mexican food, I wouldn't waste my time going here.
The food was delicious and drinks was great drinks. Service was excellent and the staff was amiable and courteous. The atmosphere was enjoyable and their prices were reasonable. I'd highly recommend it.
We just ate a fabulous take-out meal from Momocho's! We had one item from most of the categories -- yes, we were kind of hungry -- and each and every item was as delicious. It was as like we were eating it in-house. We also tried the margarita mix and it was perfect! Everything was packed well and traveled without any issues, which is pretty amazing given that we came from Akron! In these difficult times we could not recommend more highly availing yourself of this wonderful restaurant. And, they provided a link to a Spotify playlist so you can enjoy their usual soundtracks in the dining room -- very smart! Support them so we can all enjoy their in-house hospitality when the bad stuff is over. Eat up!
First impression of the restaurant was hesitation. We went on in and ordered our food which ended up being delicious. It is a bit trendy and pricey for the portion but I would make it a point to stop in if you are traveling through the area.
The food here is incredible and they also have tasty margaritas. I have come here on several occasions either with family or on a date and have always had a great time no matter what. It is a bit cramped and loud so of you are looking for a quiet evening I wouldn t suggest this place, but they are definitely a must try! Get the guacamole sampler.
I went yesterday for the third time. The first two times, the food and drinks were great. However, yesterday the food was below average. I got the carne asada, medium. The meat was not seasoned, overly cooked, and dry. The side of potatoes were so bad that I had to order a side of tortillas that I stuffed with salsa, guac, and the "carne asada" to fill me up. Next time, I'll stick to the tacos or enchiladas instead.
Ok....this place....was amazing!!! The margarita sample was so fresh. I got the flautas....which were to die for!!! The mole sauce has so much flavor and just the perfect amount of heat. So so so good!!!
What an amazing culinary experience! I opened with a glass of house sangria paired with charred tomato salsa chiltomate and warm corn tortilla chips. For my entree, I ordered Flautas - butternut squash + goat cheese | red chile + chocolate mole | brussel sprouts | hibiscus pickled shallots. This was definitely one of the best meals I ve ever tasted! In addition to a great meal, my server, Grace, was professional, efficient, and very personable. I will certainly return the next time I m in Cleveland!
Lived up to the hype. Fun decorations, amazing service, and the food was delicious. Guacamole was good, lamb enchiladas were great, and the sofrito green beans were some of the best we've ever had. A little pricy but the quality of the food was well worth it.
The vegetarian entrees are incredibly tasty and well portioned. Super cool atmosphere. I highly recommend this place.
Food and service were both phenomenal. Outside atmosphere is lovely in the summer. Great spot!
not that this is a bad place. but me and my boyfriend wanted to try new places in clevlanf hince we are from lorain and elyria. we are also on a budget. cheapest thing they have on the menu was 14 i believe ? nothing basic lile burritos or tacos. just stuff we knew we wouldnt like nor worth paying that large amount of money for. my advice if your a teen and on a budget. not for you. !
We are visiting Cleveland for the first time and found this gem. The food was delicious. Not your typical Mexican food. It had a modern flair to it. The nachos and salsas on point. The chorizo appetizer and gouda dumplings had great flavor. The main entree, lengua taquitos. The lengua was tender and sliced thin. The shrimp taquitos were cooked just right and well seasoned. The drinks are great, too. My favorite, cucumber margarita. Our waiter was attentive. Great service. Provided great menu suggestions.
Known for the different guacamole offerings. Last time I went there, I was not impressed with the presentation nor preparation of the food. It seemed to want to be more of a bar that has food that a restaurant that has a bar.
The best margaritas I've ever had. Favorite flavor was red pepper, but all we're wonderful.
What a awesome place to eat. Unusual decor, different take on Mexican food. Service was phenomenal. I would definitely go back when I'm in the area.
Amazing guacamole and very tasty margaritas. Good was delicious.
Appetizers, dinner and deserts were great. The only offsetting item was that it was a little hard to hear due to the number of diners in the restaurant, but we got over it.Great atmosphere and excellent experience overall.
I had been here years ago and fell in love with this place. Since then, I had began eating vegan and held that for three years so I failed to pay a visit. They never really seem to have vegan entrees, but if you re vegan and looking for a place to get drinks, it s still great. They have some vegan guacamole and salsa options. Recently, I ve loosened the reigns and began eating vegetarian. I took my boyfriend here, but was honestly nervous. If you re from Cleveland, you know exactly what I m talking about - you find a restaurant that you love and then slowly over time, it just isn t the same. Not Momocho. After not being here for four years, I was honestly impressed by how true this place is to when they first opened. Our meal was amazing. We started with the black pepper pecorino guacamole, and for mains we had the Flautas and the Chile Poblano Relleno. The Flautas were our favorite. I don t think that someone who eats meat would be disappointed with any of these choices. The dishes here are complex, as it s mod mex, but I don t feel that anything is done purely for wow factor . There is an understated intention behind the food, as well as the drinks. Margaritas are never short of perfect. And the staff is down to earth and kind. I never feel like anyone is performing for me, which is how it should be. This was my first time going to a restaurant since quarantine began, but I felt completely comfortable. We sat out on the patio, which has always been my preference because it s so laid back and charming. Thank you Momocho, please never change!
One of my favorites Mexican restaurants in the Cleveland area. Come here early on Friday's and Saturday's though because it can have a long wait oftentimes. The margaritas are also excellent!
Where do I start?? Okay! Of course always customer service and the welcoming factor is TOP
PRIORITY!! And when I say they surpasses my expectations!!! The food delicious! Atmosphere original. Cannot even begin to talk about the guacamole, I tried 3 of them and they were all good. Drinks strong! I would recommend this place to EVERYONE!!
Great food, great service, great atmosphere. Loved this place.
There are few mod-mex places out there but Momocho does it right. Great drinks, unique guacamole, and wonderful food.
The tacos we're good but are expensive for their size. Definitely worth it if you make it during happy hour! They also have great Taco hats!
The margaritas were fantastic! Not doing a great job of social distancing with tables, but all the staff were wearing masks.
Great Mexican. The dishes are unique and the place is also. Try and get a spot at the bar around 5 for half-price
A bit expensive, but good portions and distinctive flavors
everything is good but the price is a bit upper side but its fine, value for quality food.
first visit here based on recommendations from Food Network show Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives. Limited street parking in neighborhood. Get Tuna taquitos with blood red marmalada wrap in corn tortilla, yummy.
There was only one less perfect hitch. That was the fried ice cream was stale. Super great place. Three meals. All were terrific and service phenomenal
Solid restaurant and staff. Absolutely excellent food with contemporary twists.
My favorite restaurant (like in the world) The butternut flauta dish is the most incredible dish ever cooked on this planet. The balance of savory, sweet, umami, the mixture of textures with the soft cheese, the crunch of the Brussels, the chocolate mole, it is unparalleled. highly recommend
Listen my lovelies!!!
You will not find a better restaurant than this.
It s very clean in the front and in the kitchen and the owners care so much about their customers.
Stop in now and taste how well their dishes are full of flavor !
All I can say is amazing! You will not be disappointed.
To die for goat cheese guac and $9 happy hour carnitas taquitos - how can you go wrong?
The food is amazing and the drinks are even better! Unfortunately, it's NOT worth having to deal with the rude, unhelpful and arrogant staff which seem to delight in making their patrons feel unwelcome. Save yourself the trip, there are better places to eat in Cleveland with much friendlier service professionals!!!
Good food friendly and quick service! A fun experience
Very very small place, but you have to try it. The food is out of this world good! Not traditional Mexican but that's what makes this place. The wild boar taquitos were my husband and Is favorite! They have a great happy hour that if you play your cards right you can get out on a decent check. The waitstaff is accommodating and very friendly. We always have a good experience here.
