Moksha + Modo Yoga International: A Holistic Approach to Wellness
Modo Yoga is a unique yoga studio that offers a holistic approach to wellness. The studio welcomes both beginners and experienced students, making it an ideal place for anyone looking to improve their physical and mental health.
Founded in 2004 by Ted Grand and Jessica Robertson, Modo Yoga has grown into an international community of studios with locations in Canada, the United States, Europe, and Australia. In 2013, the company merged with Moksha Yoga International to form Moksha + Modo Yoga International.
The philosophy behind Modo Yoga is based on seven pillars: Be Healthy, Be Accessible, Live Green, Community Support, Reach Outwards, Live To Learn and Be Peace. These pillars guide every aspect of the studio's operations from its classes to its community outreach programs.
One of the unique features of Modo Yoga is its focus on hot yoga. The studio's signature class is a 60-90 minute sequence of postures performed in a heated room (37°C/98°F) designed to detoxify the body while improving flexibility and strength. The heat also helps students deepen their practice by allowing them to stretch further than they would be able to in a cooler environment.
In addition to hot yoga classes, Modo Yoga offers other styles such as Yin yoga (a slow-paced style that focuses on stretching connective tissues), Vinyasa flow (a dynamic style that links breath with movement), Hatha (a traditional style that emphasizes alignment) as well as meditation classes.
Modo Yoga also places great emphasis on sustainability and environmental responsibility. All studios are built using eco-friendly materials such as bamboo flooring and low VOC paint. They also use energy-efficient heating systems powered by renewable energy sources like solar panels or geothermal heating systems.
Community support is another important pillar at Moksha + Modo Yoga International. Each year, the company hosts a "Grow Your Yoga" campaign to raise funds for local charities. In addition, they offer free classes to first responders and military personnel as well as discounted rates for students and seniors.
Moksha + Modo Yoga International is more than just a yoga studio; it's a community of like-minded individuals who are committed to living healthy, sustainable lives while making a positive impact on the world around them. Whether you're looking to improve your physical health, reduce stress or connect with others in your community, Modo Yoga has something for everyone.
