It's compulsory to visit Mithra samaj whenever you visit Shri Krishna mutt. It's situated within with mutt premises. Their famous items are bullet idli, goli baje, buns. They have retained this authentic taste since many years. Hot steaming goli baje is the best thing you can have. They don't use onion in any of their dishes. Hygienic also. Waiters are also good at their work.

The dosas are crisp, the idlis are soft and the juices are freshly made in front of you. Though the sambar could do with less oil!
Do remember to order juices and coffee with saperate sugar as they by default make everything generously sweet.
Had high hopes of a very tasty breakfast but was let down. Coffee and Sheeran was tasty but wasn't happy about the masala dosa and Puri. At times when vehicles are not allowed in the area, it is a short walk.
Very nice Idly, Sambar, Vada, Masala Dosa. It is believed that this restraunt in Udupi has made the first masala dosa and it became very famous. Further the Baji was very fresh and heart melting.

Located inside Lord Krishna's premises. Right opposite to Sri Puttige Matt. This is one of the few restaurants to have their own Wikipedia page. They are closed on Wednesdays. Must visit hotel in Udupi for authentic coastal cuisine. Don't miss out on Masale dose and seasonal snack called Mulka, made out of jackfruit.

Goli bajji ...the famous and the most wanted..was served hot .Tiny ,cramped restaurant and crowded always .All their tiffin dishes taste good. Kesaribath,mini idli and vadas , everything tastes yum.
However their chutneys can be made little less spicy. Alu palya quantity can be improved in their masala dosas.krishna matha and mitra samaj goes together always . Satish Bhat is one senior waiter who does a wonderful job .

We visited this famous eatery in Udupi in February 2018. They are one of the pioneers of Udupi dishes all over India. Mitra Samaj is a pure vegetarian restaurant located close to the Udupi Sri Krishna Temple. It is open from 5.30 am to 9.30 pm, which coincides with the temple timing.
We tried their masala dosa, and it was very tasty with their sambar and chutney dips. It is believed that the owners of Mitra Samaj, the Holla family, popularised the masala dosa, a rice pancake fried to a crispy brown and filled with a potato stuffing, and it is now readily available at Udupi restaurants spread all over India. Idlis, wadas and dosas have become synonymous with Indian Fast Food, and are competing successfully against the McDonalds , Pizza Huts and KFCs, where vegetarian fast food is concerned.
The ambience at Mitra Samaj is not that of a fine dining restaurant, and the service is quite ordinary. It is a place to grab a quick bite and a cup of tea or coffee, make the cash payment at the counter, and run to your place of work or worship. Besides the staples mentioned above Mitra Samaj also have some other popular dishes on their menu. Their goli baje , upma, pineapple sheera, parottas and Mangalore buns are very popular. They do not use onions and garlic and some other root vegetables in their preparations due to religious reasons. They have another outlet across the road where they serve their unique Udupi style meals for lunch and dinner. Prices are extremely affordable.
