Mission Bay Aquatic Center Review

I've been coming here for over 5 years. I've taken hobiecat, keel boat and windsurfing lessons here and they've always had outstanding instruction. I'm so grateful for the service they provide the community. Great prices for boat rentals. They put a lot effort into maintaining their equipment and I've never had equipment fail on me during a sail. Big thank you to the staff that have worked there for years. I believe their presence keeps the standards high. Thank you!

For the past couple months I have signed up for the Wakeboard Free Ride sessions. These sessions have been great, perfect for anyone who has never been on a board to the more advanced rider. The staff at MBAC is great and always welcoming.

I have had the chance to have Tony, Marissa and Amy as the wakeboard session leaders and all have been great. The coaching the have provided is top notch. I will definitely keep returning due to the great staff and many activities MBAC has to offer.

Nice variety of things to rent, a very polite staff, and a nice location on the bay. A good student discount to boot.

This place is awesome as allways. Great staff and have every manual watercraft you need.

We took a Paddleboarding course...amazing Guide Jacky! So much fun...

I can't recommend this place for surfing courses. I took the semester long intermediate surfing class and it was the worst surfing class I ever took. The surf instructors don't really teach, they kinda just hang out in the water. So if you really wanna learn surfing, I recommend not wasting your money on this but take a real surfing course somewhere else. The material and the facilities of this place are nice though

Yuh I ve been coming to the summer camp and I d say it s 420/69. The staff are nice, you can do many activities like stand up paddle boarding, surfing (personal favorite) , wakeboarding/tubing (they have frickin speedboats, you can t complain about that!) very epic I recommend to every parent that is thinking about brining their child here.

Love it here. Awesome staff and love the instructors! I'm an SDSU alum and I've taken tons of classes here and even years later I'm still going regularly!

Awesome Camps for my daughter who has attended the last 5 summers. Also Watersports equipment is for rent at reasonable prices. Facility is clean and all who work there are knowledgeable and friendly.

Did 2 hours of stand-up paddleboarding. Perfect weather. Perfect water temperature. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Easily Top 3 best full-body exercises I've ever tried :) Can't wait to go again.

The counselors were hilarious and always made me feel welcome. I did the morning surfing and the only problem was that the counselors weren't always able to help me. There were about 42 kids in my group and about 7 counselors. But when the counselors could help most of them really helped.

I had a wonderful time. The staff made sure I understood how to kayak and the safety rules, they made sure everything was clean for me and above all safety and their guests having a good time was important to them. I ll be back again.

First ever time wind surfing today, I had lessons with Matt it went great! Learned all the basics and by the end of the two hour lesson I was working my way around the Bay!

Ive used MBAC for many years, from lessons for the kids and myself to beach and bay rental equipment, to DayCamp for my daughter this past summer. Their staff is friendly and very helpful. They are good about assessing your capability and making recommendations for gear and/or classes. My daughter had a blast at their camp this year, doing sailing, kayaking, tubing, surfing, and body surfing with many other campers her age. Highly recommend this place for their staff, expertise, and equipment.

Wonderful place to go when it comes to wanting to kayak, boat, etc. but don't have the equipment. The staff is friendly, quick, and give out concise instruction to ensure safety. Had no problems with any of the equipment rented (kayak, paddles, life vests) and for about $26 for 2.5 hours it's money well spent. Parking in the lot may be a headache during peak hours, but if you're willing to park outside and walk in or circle for a bit, it shouldn't be too bad.

Extremely ecstatic with my experience at this place! The workers here are amazing, super helpful, really want you to learn, and enjoy your time. The equipment is top notch and a huge variety. The workers were the best part that made the time better! Highly recommend this joint

their prices are reasonable, but they make you wash the kayaks once you are done. you have to clean them up. It was a first time for me. I usually just return them, and they have someone to maintain them.

Went stand-up paddle boarding, super easy to sign up and fun. Boards are fairly large and not too difficult to stand up with patience.

Mixed experience on rental sailboat. Counter assistance great, poor efficiency after that. PFD's disorganized, waiting on dock for boat prep and launch and poor assistance for debarking with family. I was charged for these process delays.

They offer free parking, shower place, and discounts for students. Bring your student ID and check their websites. They have many events such as 1+1(one paddling board / free).

I've been wakeboarding here multiple summer and just enrolled in my wakebording course for this spring semester. If your looking to wakeboard or waterski, this is the place to learn or get better. They have nautique boats which are best for wakes as well.

We LOVE this place. Great place to learn to sail, wakeboard, windsurf, paddle board and more. Very cool for kids to go through camp and then take a step to be a CIT. Being a CIT in San Diego sounds easy, but our teen son had the opportunity to teach young children to sail while keeping them safe. It was a wonderful experience.
The sailing and windsurfing were absolute favorites for my kids. For kids who really want to surf, this may be too basic.

It was alot of fun. Easy to find a place to park, friendly staff.

my son have a lower back pain do to the kind of work he does, he loves this place and he always take the whole family and somtimes friends to this spot and have an account with them, he rented a kayak yesterday and after 2 hours he returned it ,they made him take the kayak up to their storage area and put it on the rack for them,i wasn't so sure if thats their policy but he was in pain for just lifting that thing , he's not the kind a guy saying no if you ask him to do somthing but i'll contact some one to make sure that's part of the rental agreement.....

Would strongly recommend this place for anyone who is looking to get out for a quick wakeboard set while in the San Diego area. They have brand new nautique boats. I was fortunate enough to ride behind a 2019 Nautique GS. The instructor, Hunter, did a great job helping the newer ride on the boat. Not only that he made sure we had the right gear, so that everyone had a marvelous time!

Mission Bay Aquatic Center does rentals of kayaks, stand up paddle boards, sail boats, etc. They also have classes for sailing, stand up paddle board, etc. The staff is friendly and the classes were good. The rental gear is in good shape also. They have locker rooms that you can change in and store items while on the water.

Had lots of fun, friendly staff! Definitely coming back..

Had a great experience wake boarding. I would suggest a private for 2 hours if you re in a group between 2-5 people. We paid $360 for two hours and the boat was new and all the equipment was in great too.

They also offer different water sports making it a one stop shop for all your water sports!

A great place to spend a day with your family! Clean bathrooms with showers, rent kayaks, sail boats, etc... Associated with SDSU & UCSD. Classes and Summer camps available. Within Sail Bay.

From a member of the SDSU Aztec Sailing Team while attending State to sending my son off to their Summer water sports camp MBAC has been a pillar for decades on Mission Bay, SD. Staff and counselors are great.
