Wonderful historic building, built in the 17th century. in the middle. It is part of the ensemble of buildings of the former Jesuit monastery novitiate, which began to form in 1602. 1991 handed over to the then Department of Defense, the building was heavily abandoned and demolished. 1992 The reconstruction and restoration works started in 2002 lasted until 2002.
Those interested can visit (it is necessary to agree on the excursion in advance) the historical White and Black Halls of the Ministry of National Defense, see the hypocausal furnace, the remains of the Vilnius defensive wall, and get acquainted with the history of this building.

The palace of this ministry has a long history: here was a Jesuit novitiate who was demolished in the 19th century. The building has many authentic monastery buildings and architectural elements from various periods. In one of the rooms you can see a fragment of the masonry of the defensive wall of Vilnius city. Of course, no one will let you in there unless the ministry ever manages to organize tours. And that would be a super idea!
