Beautiful lodge experience nestled in a quiet town and beautiful alpine peaks.
Visited last Winter for a planned single day heli-ski as an add on. Actually never got to heli-ski because of the poorly run reservation system and the disorganization at Wiegele; but I did spend a day in the lodge while my buddy was luckily added on to a chopper for what he described as mediocre heli-boarding. I wrote a long letter to Wiegele, hoping, at least for an apology for a two hour drive, their systems reservation failures, and a wasted ski day, but they never replied, or just as likely the reply got lost in their system. That attitude, or disorganization, fits with the general vibe we got starting with our arrival in the early am, at the appointed time, per their instructions, to the clueless, albeit friendly enough desk staff, and the mostly rude or uninterested guides we encountered while we tried to sort out our reservation. The lodge is bland as heli-ski lodges go, the place disorganized, the scenery not so good compared to most of B.C., the costs high, most of the guides unhelpful, and the heli-skiing certainly not top notch compared to other operators and locations I've experienced over 25 years of heli-skiing. They do have a nice, but expensive, ski and board shop on the premises which accounts for the two stars above zero.
Great experience but pricey and we had a grumpy pilot who hardly engaged with the group...
Just held a training weekend there for 46 people. Staff and accommodations were all first rate. We had a few internal issues with some of our people, and the front desk staff bent over backwards in order to help us sort out our problems. Couldn t have stayed at a better place!
Amazing cabin/hotel place. This is a summer review. They have a small gym to workout and a game room with pool and ping pong. They have sand volleyball and canoes to rent for free. You can go fishing in the small lake and here is also a dock to swim and jump off of. Great place for family's and for young adults.
Just would like to take the time to let everyone in the world know what type of people work for this company.
I worked in house keeping for nearly 3 months and the all the staff seemed really nice at first but unfortunatley things turned around very quickly as the management were really toxic, minipulative and unprofessional as they treated majority of the house keeping department like numbers and animals, (mainly the supervisors).
What an amazing experience we had with this resort and staff. I just recently sent a member of my crew to work up there at the resort. We were extremely impressed by how kind they were to him. They made sure he was looked after at all times. I also was very impressed with Andrea, who I was in contact with several times while she arranged everything. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Well done, we wouldn't hesitate to recommend you to any of our friends or family!!!
Beautiful lodge and cabins with social area. Free usage of canoes, SUP and bikes. Eleanor lake beside property is very quaint. Mosquitoes are very bad at this time.
AMAZING! Perfect place to relax and unwind! I had a lovely four days here. Cabin is well maintained, has a full service kitchen with lots and pans, cutlery even cookie sheets for cooking! A kettle and coffe machine, washer and dryer which came in super handy with all the hiking and boating we did. The best part and such a handy little gadget was the boot warmer right by the front door! The cabin can accommodate a big group. There are three rooms within one cabin with two beds and their own bathroom each which is super great of a family or big group are travelling together. I really liked the red porch chairs and hot tub (sadly didn t get to use the hot tub because of covid) the beds are comfy and there s enough pre chopped fire wood to keep you going for days. Staff were super responsive by email and because we came at a weird time of year and also during the pandemic we were the only ones on site. These cabins were waaaaaay more well maintained, quaint and all around 100% better as well as good value for the dollar and I would say here again a million times over - I can tell you they are a million times better than the Harrison Hot Springs Cabins (who charge a lot more $$) Also, this would be a great venue to get married at!! Close to the lakes and a lot of the trails if you are outdoorsy!!
Dream place, just beautiful! Do not forget the mosquito products, they are ferocious ;-)
We were booked in for one night could not park near our room so had to carry every thing 50 feet in the heat, looked for the air conditioning in room but there was none went to make a cup of tea but there was no plug for the kettle. Room was off a very poor standard so we asked for our money back and moved on.
Great resort, but in the summer it has a lot of mosquitoes!
Super Heliboarding Area for all real snowboarders. Condition and ability is absolutely necessary!
This is the finest skiing, guiding, dining and atmosphere in the entire world of skiing. I've been six times and am signed up again for this coming ski season. Worth every cent of the cost. I love Wiegele's!!
Top resort with the best powder snow far and wide. Great guides!
The beautiful area can understand why the would take flight.
Great resort we had a great time in our cabin. Maybe in future it would be a good idea to have a small convenience area in the office with bread eggs and milk as there is no large grocery store open in evening.
Incredible organization to visit would highly reccomend.
5 star without exception! Fantastic guides, equipment, snow conditions, food, lodging, and staff... this is a 5-star resort!
Beautiful place to stay saw a bear on patio while having breakfast
Beautiful cabins and great people. Lovely year round.
Loved our weekend off season get away. Thank you for the great cabin. So relaxing and the cabin was amazing. Beds comfy. Everything you need. Thx blue river for your friendliness and adventures.
Amazing everything, the guides, the ski, the snow, the food, the rooms, I would live here if I could!
Best powder, with the most experience guides in the mountains. The entire experience, from food, service, and accommodation is incredible. And then you get to ski the best powder in the world, with the safest most experienced guides.
We loved our stay here, it was clean and they let us pre check in. They give out free canoes to take out to the eleanor lake. The heli tours are pricey and it is better to take heli tours in jasper/banff than here. Highly recommended.
Experience with regards to the restaurant on the road to Jasper. Great dishes at reasonable prices. Very friendly service. Ideal stage.
Arrived quite late while passing through town, was only place left with a room as all other motels were full. It was my birthday so we splurged and stayed at this Heli-skiing resort. Usually we would not have paid this much for a night, but considering we had a fully appointed chalet with a kitchen, wood fireplace and tons of wood, washer and dryer, king bed and huge dining and living room,it was well worth it! Clean all around, friendly staff who didn't mind we checked out over an hour past checkout time. Makes me wanna return in the winter to go Heli skiing here with my buddies!
My room had a sink that would not drain. The town's power was taken off line for 3 hours but that wasn't their fault
I love it here. Great people. N all the employees r amazing. They have great packages for skiing n skiing n the food is amazing at the lodge.also the gym n massage. It's all yr round. In the summer there is alot to do as well there is hiking swimming canoeing the river safari. N much much more.
Amazing place. Friendly staff. Beautiful scenery and amazing Log Cabins
Look up the definition of excellent customer service in the dictionary and you will find "Mike Wiegele Helicopter Skiing". Everything about this place is exceptional, from the world class heliskiing to cozy "rustic-chic" log cabins, but what's truly amazing is its superb customer service. Every stay has been stellar. Can't wait to return!
Neat hotel. Rooms are in cabins. Restaurant across the street was not the greatest though. Hello tour was the highlight of the road trip.
The lodge is beautiful, the metal work done local blacksmith is absolutely incredible. Although I was only there for a couple hours, I definitely felt at home
Lovely log cabins , superb location , nice service and a decent breakfast
Does not treat snowmobilers well. Does not provide lodging if you're a snowmobiler
Beautifully set up. Caters well. Mainly fir the rich
Fantastic experience for those who love to ski. Guides are great. Always felt safe with one guide riding front and another in the back. Lunch provided on the mountain (soup, sandwiches and snacks). Doesn't have to be expert skier to enjoy. Possibility to leave mountain earlier if tired on a heli gas run. Our pilot was extremely competent. Loved the tight and accurate landings.
After our long drive. We stopped by and checked in for the night. Our room was clean, weird set up as there were two double bed in different rooms. My husband and I had to share one double bed. The bed squeaked so loud. Checked out time was supposed to be 11am but the housekeeper woke us up at 8 in the morning. He/she tried to open the door too but gladly my husband used the latch. Frustrating when you planned to sleep in. Other than that it was quiet and okay.
Went for the sales. They had technical gear at 50% off. Prices might have been inflated to begin with but all my favourite brands had decent prices.
Wonderful property and great chalets to share with separate bathrooms.
Incredible place. Very nice and open to catch fresh and pure air. Big houses, with two beds per room. Each cabin has a common living room with kitchen. A nice lake is besides the cabins perfect for campfire. Nice food.
Mike Wiegele Helicopter Skiing: The Ultimate Powder Experience
If you're a skiing or snowboarding enthusiast, you've probably heard of Mike Wiegele Helicopter Skiing. This pioneering company has been offering the world's finest powder since 1970, and it's still going strong today. With unlimited vertical, 1.2 million acres of terrain, and a first-class luxury resort in Blue River, BC, Canada, Mike Wiegele Helicopter Skiing is the ultimate powder experience.
The History of Mike Wiegele Helicopter Skiing
Mike Wiegele was born in Austria in 1938 and grew up skiing in the Austrian Alps. In 1959 he moved to Canada to work as a ski instructor at Banff National Park. He fell in love with the Canadian Rockies and decided to make Canada his home.
In 1970 Mike started his own heli-skiing company with just one helicopter and a handful of guests. Over the years he expanded his operation to include more helicopters and more terrain until he had built one of the largest heli-ski operations in the world.
Today Mike Wiegele Helicopter Skiing is still family-owned and operated by Mike's son Eric Wiegele. The company has won numerous awards for its outstanding service and continues to be recognized as one of the best heli-ski operators on the planet.
The Powder Snow Experience
What sets Mike Wiegele Helicopter Skiing apart from other ski resorts is its focus on powder snow. Unlike most ski resorts that groom their runs every night, at Mike Wiegele you'll be skiing fresh tracks all day long.
The company operates in an area known as "the Powder Highway" which receives some of North America's deepest snowfall each year. This means that even if it hasn't snowed for days before your trip, you'll still be able to find plenty of fresh powder thanks to its high elevation location.
Unlimited Vertical & Terrain
Another unique feature of heli-skiing with Mike Wiegele is that there are no lift lines or crowds - just endless terrain waiting for you to explore! With over 1.2 million acres (4856 km²) available for skiing or snowboarding across five different mountain ranges including Cariboo Mountains Range , Monashee Mountains Range , Selkirk Mountains Range , Purcell Mountains Range & Rocky Mountain Trenches; there's always something new to discover here!
And if that wasn't enough already - they offer unlimited vertical too! That means no matter how many runs you take during your stay; there are no additional charges for extra vertical feet skied!

After a long day on the slopes, nothing beats relaxing in luxury accommodations surrounded by stunning mountain views!
