As if God himself came down to earth and gave us a slice of heaven, It doesn't get better than this. Loved the experience, I come here every time I visit Hornby. Sit upon a patio on a log cabin and bask in the view of Hornby and beyond, and taste the exquisite toil and cultivation of this peaceful island. Ask to sample the Rose Mead, blew me away. Edit: Gets better every year, try the charcuterie relax, oh! and I heard they have extremely tasty lavender lemonade! Kid Friendly, Massive garden spilling over the hilltop for them to play in Try to review this place at under 4 stars, I dare you.

Mead is one of those alcoholic beverages that deserves more recognition. I have tasted local meads from Coastal Black (Black Creek, BC) and Campbell's Meadery (Abbotsford, BC). I am glad to add Middle Mountain to the list of places I have had the pleasure of visiting. Parked a little ways up the hill, the garden and views were absolutely stunning. Jeff facilitated our tasting with a generous selection of samplings, even offering little tips I would never have thought of. We ended up buying a box of mead, Black Magic, which, when enjoyed with some sparkling water is absolutely divine. We also purchased a couple other bottles that we loved the most during the tasting. The view alone is worth the visit; however, the hospitality and mead make this a must-visit on Hornby in my humble opinion.

Over the past several years, going to Middle Mountain Mead has become a Hornby Island tradition. I discovered this gem of a place after taking a trip to Hornby with a friend, and on a day too rainy to hit the beach we drove up to Middle Mountain. The meadery is located on a beautiful property, and the tasting room deck overlooks rolling hills and the lush gardens where many of the botanicals featured in their various meads are grown. Tastings are offered by the owners, both of whom are friendly and very interesting to speak with. You will get to sample something like eight different kinds of mead, all of which have creative flavour profiles, and the owners will walk you through how each kind is made. We usually end up leaving with 2-3 bottles to bring home with us! Overall, a beautiful place to visit and a Hornby Island must-see!
