My Manager really wanted me to shoot with Michael. I wasn't familiar with his work but I checked him out online and definitely liked what I saw. His images tend to "pop" off the screen. So I decided to give it a go!
Shot with Michael mid December 2019, and was very pleased. Good headshots are about much more than just good lighting, and I feel that Michael was able to get out some great emotion in my shots and that's exactly what I was looking for! Other than that he's a really chill guy and I had a great time shooting with him.

Words can't describe what both Michaels mean to Michael Roud Photography. Yes, there is also a Michael C. which is his assistant ironically. Like Mom said, "you get what you pay for". This is not your LA discounted headshot photographer for 10 looks for $10.95. Therefore, you will appreciate his keen eye to detail, his vast knowledge working behind the camera on movie sets and even writing and producing movie scripts in his downtime. Lastly, this man knows amazing shooting locations around LA to produce the perfect background for my GF photoshoot. *You won't be disappointed

I am so thankful I chose Michael Roud to shoot my headshots. He instantly pegged my "type" and shot until we got the perfect image to represent me. He made me feel comfortable and confident. He is a director as well so he really knows how to get an actor in to "character". I came away with great commercial and theatrical looks. After taking 10 or so years off from acting, I was excited to get back in to it. As soon as I got my photos, I submitted myself for a commercial and booked it! Thanks for getting me in the door, Michael!

Michael was great - I felt comfortable from the start to the finish and he let me choose my own music, which was huge. Michael is a professional and really knows how to get the best out of you. Highly recommend him for head shots.

Michael is a true pro, making you look even better than you thought you could! He is also very patient, and makes sure he gets the exact right shots that you need. And talk about making your eyes pop, hello! I will definitely be a repeat customer.

Do you dred getting headshots? Me too. Michael Roud understood where my anxiety was coming from and went above and beyond to get me the great photos I was hoping for. I told him my personal insecurities about how I didn't feel I was photogenic and he captured me with great natural smiles and many looks to the point where I had a VERY hard time choosing from all the options! In the end I chose the photos he personally selected; definitely get his Approved Photos. HE just KNOWS what conveys best. I was very apprehensive about one of my looks and he offered to retake it to make me happy. That's a rarity in this town and when I left from that shoot I was beaming with confidence. He is a down to earth really cool guy and his photos speak volumes about his talent for bringing out the talent in his subjects. Thank you Michael Roud!

If you are seriously looking to have a photographer capture who you are then look no further. Michael is truly a talented photographer that understands how to best showcase your talent.

The process is unlike any other photographer in this town. First you start off by carefully selecting the perfect wardrobe to bring out your best looks. Then your off to some of the coolest locations in town. But instead of getting lost behind fancy locations Michael teaches you postures and looks that bring out the best in you! It was like an on camera workshop.

I learned more about my camera looks in this session then in any workshop. I know it will help me book more jobs! My entire management team loved them and my fans are all melting from what you captured! If your looking for stunning pics then schedule your session right away! Bravo Michael!

I ordered a Agency Package from the Michael Roud LA Photography Studio. I had a Great half of day with Michael. Michael is professional , intuitive and unique. He was able to coach me with forgiveness, patience and charisma. I'm from Dodgeville, WI or the Midwest USA and I am so happy I had the opportunity to work with Michael. Michael's studio staff ( Mary ) also took care of my hair and make-up! Michael and Mary were such genuine, creatively intune stylists. Thank you Michael Roud & Staff! Well worth your penny! I had a great time shooting at MRP. Abigail is a delight to work with, made things fun and comfortable so my confidence was high. Very helpful in choosing wardrobe and what looks best for the looks I was going for. Got MUA done by Penelope and she made me look great! The pictures turned out so well, met all my expectations.

I had a great time with Michael- he definitely got in there and didn't want to just snap at his camera for me but instead painted scenarios for me to imagine so that my face and eyes would come to life because they truly believe "eyes are the window to the soul". If I was pushing too hard or "trying" to do a look- Michael could tell right away and would stop and give me some time to warm up and take a minute to think.
He was very patient and understanding of when I struggled a bit to be a character I've never thought of before. His lighting in my images were exactly what I asked for and better. Thanks so much for that.
I'll be reshooting with him again in the future.

Shot my headshots with Michael and it was the BEST decision!

He is an incredibly talented photographer and made me feel completely comfortable. He takes so much care to make sure you are happy with your photos and is very helpful with determining how to make you the most marketable. He truly is a professional in every sense of the word and I couldnt' be happier with my headshots.

I would highly recommend him to all of my friends and will definitely be going back the next time I need to shoot headshots again in the future!

Michael is an AMAZING photographer! Not only was I incredibly pleased with the shots we took, but we had a great time throughout the process. I felt a little uncomfortable and unsure of myself going into the shoot, but Michael and his assistant truly made me feel at home. He knows exactly how to help bring out the best in you and then capture that. Afterwards we went through ALL the (hundreds of) pictures together and discussed what worked and what didn't. I would recommend this studio to anyone.
PS - The negative reviews on here are clearly from fake accounts that have never even worked with this studio. If you're thinking about getting headshots - do yourself and your career a favor - this is the place to get them done.

This was my first time getting professional head shots done, and I was not fully sure how the process worked but I had heard great things about Michael Roud Photography. When I got there I found that he and his team were nothing but friendly people who made me feel very comfortable. Michael is a tremendously nice and down to earth guy who made the whole process extremely fun and easy. Of course this isn't even including the actual head shots he took, which were fantastic. He really knew what he was doing, and the pictures turned out phenomenally. Michael is truly a professional, and I highly recommend using him for all your photography needs.

My experience with Michael Roud photography was amazing from the start. They fully prepare you for the day of your shoot, have excellent videos and articles to help guide you through your preparation, and you know pricing up front. The actual shoot was fantastic. Michael is so warm and super collaborative. He wants to help you stand out in castings and in front of agents, so he is very intentional and thoughtful about the types of shots he thinks will work for you. I had such a great time. He made me feel very comfortable and in trusting hands. At the end of the session when we went back over final pricing he made talking about money very easy and light. I would highly recommend Michael Roud. He takes great care of his clients.

Michael listens to you what you are looking for and he recreates it, if that is what you want. Other than that, he will do his own style which is simply really cool and the photos get you noticed. He is dedicated and very focused. I'm glad I went to him.

Working with Michael and his crew was such a fantastic experience! Penelope did my hair and makeup and she was an absolute charm. I could tell from the very beginning that Michael cares about his work and wants the best for all of us. We went over wardrobe choices and what I wanted to accomplish from this session. Michael is so very talented, and he knew just what to say to calm my anxiety and focus on the characters I was trying to convey. The whole experience was super chill, and I'm really proud of the work we did!

Michael was great to work with - he worked with me on further investigating and developing my specific branding as an actor and then brought it to life in my shots. The studio is a great place to work creatively and the off-set location he used was perfect for the look I was going for. If you are looking for someone who will keep your branding in mind while also bringing out the best in "you" in every shot, check out Michael. I did the agency package and felt that everything was taken care of and I could just focus on the shoot. As an actor, his direction brought out the truth in every picture. Mostly I appreciated his quality over quantity approach - shoots can be tiring and he was focused on getting the best shots rather than the most shots during my shoot. Needless to say, it was really hard to pick final pictures - so many great ones with so much to offer casting. I have 4 distinct looks to to showcase myself and he made certain that the outfit wasn't just changing but that characters I could play were coming to life. Thanks to Michael!

Working with Michael Roud was one of the best experiences I've ever had! The guy worked tirelessly getting the perfect shots. When my last shoot with him ran late I asked him if his next client would be angry and he informed me that he didn't have another client that day. --That's how much time he invests in his clients. It's not just the shoot, its all the work he does after the shoot. He really prioritizes his work by allowing for more time for each client. And take advantage of his other deals. He's giving away discounts all the time-- some of them include his pre-viewed and approved imaging services and re-touching. With Michael Roud, you get what you pay for and moreover. Also, the hair/makeup stylist is AMAZING. Besides making you look the best you're ever going to look, she's a political science wiz and probably one of the more interesting people you'll ever meet.

This was my first step after graduating college a couple of years ago to really take my future seriously as an actor. I am so happy with my photos but more so with the experience to work with Michael, as well as Mary who is such a talented hair and make-up artist. Michael is THE best. I know some people may just casually use the word "best", but I don't use it unless the thing I'm describing is truly that and Michael certainly deserves to have that word describe his work. I've been getting head shots since I was fourteen, but they've never turned out with such quality and pop. I usually just get head shots because I look older and I think nothing of it, but I really feel like these new shots are going to lead to booking jobs at lightning speed. And on top of his skill as a photographer, he's just a cool, down to earth guy. I highly recommend him, if that wasn't already obvious.

I'm so happy with my new headshots and I loved shooting with Michael. He is an exceptional photographer who really understands lighting and how to make you look great. He made me feel relaxed and comfortable and took his time during our session. He went through all my wardrobe to pick the best colors for my skin tone and the looks I was going for. He has a very cool studio with a lot of background options and there's a parking lot right next door which I found very convenient. His makeup artist is fantastic, a real sweetheart, knows what she's doing, and very pleasant to be around. In today's marketplace, your headshots can't just be good, they have to be great, and I feel like I got great headshots with Michael that capture who I am and the roles I can play. Highly recommend.

I had a great session, I felt very comfortable and the overall experience was just plain fun which was important for me since I am new to this. Michael is the best! he definitely got skillz which is clearly evident in the quality of his work. I will be booking more shoots with him soon.

Michael and his team are amazing. I'm always super nervous when it comes to photo shoots and with Michael and Mary, I felt super comfortable and had such a great time during throughout the shoot. I loved that Michael would stop between sets of shots and let me see the photos! It definitely helped keep me feeling excited and fresh throughout the entire shoot. I also loved his direction and he genuinely wants you to get the best shot possible. He's very talented and also very fun. Mary was so welcoming and her hair and makeup skills are bomb. Choosing a photographer is an important decision because when the event/session is over, it is the visual images that remain. I wanted someone who had an artist's eye and an ability to make people comfortable, so that the pictures would be both artistic and natural. Michael Roud was all that I hoped for and more. He is professional. The hair and makeup staff team leader - Mary Freitag, was very professional as well. The environment was relaxing and inviting.

Michael Roud Photography has a level of professionalism and creativity that is hard to find in photographers. I truly felt incredibly comfortable and before I even got my proofs back, I knew the pictures were going to turn out great. I was right!!!! They are wonderful photos. I feel so fortunate to have chosen Michael Roud and his wonderful staff member Mary Freitag for my photography session.

I just got my first headshots here and let me tell you WOW! Michael was more then a pro when it comes to being a photographer! his staff was extremely helpful and kind and I would recommend getting ALL not just one but all your headshots here! absolutely fantastic.

Michael did the photos for my family. He did an amazing job!Very professional, and the photos came out incredible. He is also very reasonable in his prices. I would highly recommend his, and plan on having him do our holiday photos!!!

If you spend a moment in Michael's studio, you quickly realize he runs a very tight ship. There is no rush, he works with you at your own speed. He really gets to the bottom of what your look is. He is impartial, having this understanding what looks will help get you booked. He is professional but still able to be friendly and make his clients feel comfortable. He has good assistants, calm music playing, a small dog, and even hot tea in the studio to help you relax and warm up to the process.

He is a very busy man, but I encourage you to keep at him and book a session. Because when his phones aren't ringing and his days aren't full, he shows he wants to help. He is as capable as any photographer I've met and in full command of his craft. Very recommended.

Sometimes I feel like I've taken a million headshots and all the same one. For the first time I feel like I didn't just get "another headshot." I feel like Michael truly captured EXACTLY what I wanted. He listened to how I wanted to be marketed- what hadn't worked in the past, what I already had, and what I wanted to accomplish with these new shots. And man did he Deliver!! Exactly what I wanted and I could not be happier!! He is so friendly, fantastic staff and directs the perfect amount to capture that perfect shot. Don't look anywhere else... Michael is an amazing photographer and coach. He's incredibly knowledgeable, and he listened very closely to what I wanted to get out of the shoot and gave me honest, professional feedback about what I wanted vis a vis the industry. His studio provides a totally relaxed space in which to get the best results. I am just diving into the industry, so it was really important that I work with somebody who could give me clear and specific feedback about what kind of shots I would need. No one made me feel stupid for not knowing certain things or for being a bit green. Mary Freitag is the makeup/hair artist in the studio, and she is the real thing. Not only is she a kickass artist, but she is really warm. The two have a great dynamic and they keep things fun and light. I love my headshots and would go back to Michael any day.

WOW WOW WOWZERS!! So delighted with all my shots, as is my representation. I booked 4 looks, and definitely covered all the bases for everything I needed and more!
Michael and Mary (MUA) found my best colors, and put together the looks with perfection. He found my best angles, and was great with direction. He has an amazing eye for detail and like other reviews noted, he doesn't stop until he gets exactly the right shot. We shot two looks in the studio and went out to locations for the others. Mary is highly skilled and has an amazing bedside manner.
Michael not only is a creative perfectionist but is also very informed on what works best in terms of marketing yourself. Thank you Michael for making the most unfavored part of an actor's job painless.
