Great Ministry! I normally don't trust "charities" but they are many steps above the rest and help so many people. I also had the opportunity to meet a couple leadership members and was very impressed.

They help people. You have to have no where to go but up to appreciate this place. It's an independent ministry but it kind of felt more like a federal government office. But they do have areas they can help.

Touching the Tampa Bay Area in so many ways! Good work & Good People. Congratulations on your newest venture - Inside The Box - I've had an opportunity to eat there twice and the food is always great and so are the prices. It's amazing how you can do so much with so little!

If u get S.S.I income. There isn't much assistance u will receive other than some donuts & food. Which i didn't need. They have programs, and referrals to agencies & schooling or housing, pay utilities. Only if u live in shelters, have kids. Or low to no income. They help around the holidays also with food if u apply. This was over 5 yrs ago i went to see what assistance they render. None for me but food i left and never returned. It was tuff but I managed to sort it all out.

Assistance they provide here is invaluable. They were able to give my brother-in-law and ID and a voucher where he can go get a state ID that didn't cost him anything. When he came here he absolutely had nothing at all. They also provided food and clothing. If it weren't for one staff member in the employment office they would have got five stars! Thanks Metropolitan Ministries!

I sat there for 5 hours and went through 4 ppl, so they knew why I was there.. no one bothered to tell me that they couldn't help me until after I had been there half the day! They said they couldn't pay more than $50 of electric bills, but my friend works there and they paid hundreds of dollars of hers.. I've never been in a position where I needed financial assistance, but I'm disabled and have no support, so decided to seek the assistance and the one time that I needed it, I was turned away. They paid $0.. Mind you, I wasted over $20 going there and back on uber. It was a really bad experience and makes me not even want to try again not recommend anyone else to either.

Very disappointed about my visit today. I checked in to the front to see if I can get assistance for rent and I was told i could not be seen because they were too full. Then I asked to speak with a manager and I was told by a female supervisor to have a seat and someone will be right with me. Not knowing she was a supervisor. Bad communication from all three individuals the lady at the front desk her name is Chrissy she never had me on the list to receive any services so I was sitting for 2 hours and was never on the list to be seen for help . Bad customer service and lack of communication

This place is not good for people who are in real need and emergency status. If u got nowhere to go with your children immediately this is not the right place to go. You gotta do a whole bunch of stuff and then u have to wait several weeks to be helped. Very sad.

I am a RN student and part of my Community nursing was 30hrs of community health service. I tried an AA meeting, but felt like I was intruding. Then I found out about Metropolitan Ministries. I lived 2 miles away for over 15 years and had no idea about what all they do for the community. Housing assistance for homeless families, GED program's, job placement assistance, Daycare assistance, Food pantry and clothing and the list goes on! The kitchen on site is one of the cleanest I have ever seen! So impressed. Even though I have my hours in, I will definitely be back to volunteer for the Holidays!

Whatever you do don't give monetary donations to this charity it only pays big bucks for the CEO and other executives. If you want to donate give canned and boxed food so that it actually helps people.Good thing potatoes and gravy.

Me and my family seeked help and is currently receiving all the assistance they can provide for us. The staff here are a team of wonderful, exceptional people that goes out of their way to assist us in any shape or form. Especially Ms. Katherine!! I love the conversations we have (she does know it) but she can makes my day when I'm feeling a little down. A gal pal to have in your corner I would say and I'm appreciative of her. Metropolitan Ministries is a Godsend because its giving people chances and opportunities to start anew... For Godsakes I'm grateful.

About Metropolitan Ministries

Metropolitan Ministries: Helping the Homeless and At-Risk Communities

Metropolitan Ministries is a nonprofit organization that has been serving the homeless and at-risk communities in Hillsborough, Pinellas, Polk, and Pasco counties for over 45 years. The organization was founded in 1972 by Reverend Morris H. Cerullo with a mission to provide hope, care, and compassion to those who are struggling with poverty.

The organization's vision is to end homelessness in Tampa Bay by providing essential services such as food, shelter, clothing, education, and job training. Metropolitan Ministries believes that everyone deserves a chance to live a dignified life regardless of their circumstances.

The nonprofit operates several programs that cater to different needs of the community. One of its flagship programs is the Outreach program which provides emergency assistance such as food boxes and financial aid for rent or utilities. The program also offers case management services where clients can receive counseling on how to improve their situation.

Another program offered by Metropolitan Ministries is the Uplift U program which provides transitional housing for families who are experiencing homelessness. The program aims to help families get back on their feet by providing them with safe housing while they work towards achieving self-sufficiency.

In addition to these programs, Metropolitan Ministries also operates several other initiatives such as:

- Holiday Tent: During Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons each year they set up tents where people can come pick up holiday meals.
- Food Pantry: They have multiple locations throughout Tampa Bay where people can come pick up groceries.
- Career Development Center: This center helps individuals develop skills needed for employment through workshops & training sessions.
- Bridge Builders Program: This initiative helps young adults aging out of foster care transition into independent living through mentorship & support services.

Metropolitan Ministries relies heavily on volunteers and donors who share its vision of ending homelessness in Tampa Bay. Volunteers play an integral role in helping run various programs offered by the nonprofit while donors provide financial support that enables it's operations.

If you're interested in supporting Metropolitan Ministries' mission you can make donations online via their website or sign up as a volunteer through their volunteer portal on their website too! Your contribution will go towards helping those who need it most within our community!
