Methodist Children's Home Society: Providing Hope, Love, and Support to Children in Need
Methodist Children's Home Society (MCHS) is a non-profit organization that has been providing professional Child Foster Care and Child Adoption Services in Redford and Detroit, Michigan for over 100 years. The organization was founded in 1917 by a group of Methodist women who saw the need to care for orphaned children. Today, MCHS continues to provide hope, love, safety and support to children who are searching for a better life.
Child Foster Care Services
MCHS offers professional Child Foster Care services that provide temporary or long-term care for children who have been removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect. The organization works closely with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) to ensure that each child is placed in a safe and nurturing environment. MCHS provides ongoing support services for foster families including training, counseling, respite care and financial assistance.
Child Adoption Services
MCHS also offers Child Adoption services which provide permanent homes for children who are unable to return home. The organization works with prospective adoptive parents throughout the adoption process including home studies, placement services and post-adoption support.
Child Foster Care Licensing
In addition to providing foster care services, MCHS also offers Child Foster Care Licensing which allows individuals or families interested in becoming licensed foster parents access to training programs as well as ongoing support from experienced professionals.
Independent Living Services
For older youth who are aging out of the foster care system or transitioning into independent living situations MCHS provides Independent Living Services which include housing assistance programs as well as educational resources such as job training programs.
Residential Treatment & Clinical Therapy
MCHS provides Residential Treatment & Clinical Therapy programs designed specifically for children with emotional or behavioral challenges. These programs offer individualized treatment plans developed by licensed therapists along with 24-hour supervision by trained staff members.
80 Acre Campus
The 80-acre campus located in Redford Michigan is home to 60 boys between the ages of 5-18 years old who arrive at MCHS searching for hope love safety and support every child deserves. This campus includes residential cottages where boys live along with recreational facilities such as basketball courts soccer fields swimming pool gymnasiums etc., all designed specifically around meeting their needs while they stay here at our facility until they can be placed into loving homes again!
Aftercare Program
The Aftercare Program offered by MCHS provides continued support after youth leave our program through education health wellness programming mentoring opportunities etc., ensuring they have everything needed not only succeed but thrive once leaving our facility!
Education Program
The Education Program offered by MCHC ensures that every child receives an education tailored specifically around their needs whether it be traditional schooling vocational training GED preparation etc., we work hard so no matter what path these kids choose there will always be someone there helping them achieve success!
Health & Wellness Program
The Health & Wellness program offered by MHC ensures each child receives proper medical attention mental health counseling nutrition physical activity opportunities etc., all designed around promoting healthy lifestyles while staying here at our facility until they can be placed into loving homes again!
