The course itself is in average shape, with quite some room for improvement.
Food quality is generally good,
Notably poor customer care; but fortunately, dealing with customer care issues in a golf course doesn't happen that often, but if ever happened to you, you might regret pursuing it;
It can be quite humiliating, when your character and claim get checked and scrutinized... take a rain check for an example, what they advertise for is simple and straight forward, but will not be delivered without an interrogation, and from the top course personal if necessary!!!
Next time if there is a chance of rain and you care about rain check, better go somewhere else.
You may also find yourself lonely as you leave the course, make sure your round doesn't last long into the evening (half an hour b4 sunset max) unless there are a lot of golfers still around!

Based on many previous Google reviews I was expecting more from my experience. However, in hindsight was pleased by the service (5-star), but disappointed by the golf(1-2 stars) = 3-star overall rating.

Yes, the course (and many others in the Ottawa Valley) clearly took a beating this past winter. Greens on the front nine are awful- should be 2-put greens. Some of the fairways have faced years of neglect, improper drainage and care. Ever played through a hydro tower? If no and you want to, this is your course! This is a country course, and not a well manicured or consistently groomed course I was expecting.

On the positive side, some nice natural scenery (outside of the hydro corridor), the last few holes are in ok shape, great signage to guide your play and the staff are well organized & very friendly.

Great local course. Friendly staff and good food. Plenty of challenge for the good golfer and the hacker like myself. Lots of shade for those hot days. One of my favorite courses in the area

Had our wedding ceremony and reception here, best price we found any where in Ottawa. The staff, food and grounds were all amazing. Only thing would be if they had an area for the bridal party to get ready.

I have been playing the course for 3 years now and each year the course conditions get worse. There is no evidence that they are working to improve the course. No aeration of the fairways, no seeding on the greens and they don't even provide sand seed to repair tee box divots. It's unfortunate because the course services are great and the food is top notch.

This is a great little course with a separate 18 and 9 hole course. Staff who understand what customer service is and a friendly atmosphere. make the place special. Today, as I left the parking lot, I realized I had a flat tire. Before I could park the car, someone had gone in to ask the guys in the shed/repair shop if they could give a hand. I was ushered into the shed by a competent man who then proceeded to change my tire and put on my spare. Working fast, he did an excellent job. When we were done, I asked if I might offer something. No, he said, he was the owner of the club!!!! I was gob smacked. Clearly, service starts at the top! I shall be back, Mr. Welch! You are a class act.

Another underwhelming experience at this golf course. I'm disappointed they wouldn't honour a paid for gift certificate that was partially expired, even though the course had been closed for a portion of the season due to COVID-19. While this is my "local" course I find myself going there less and less as I find I can get better value for my golf dollar elsewhere.

Unfortunately my experience wasn't good at all. I...

Unfortunately my experience wasn't good at all. I called and booked a tee time for 5:04 for my wife and two kids. I wanted to play 18 holes and the pro-shop informed me of a special they had going on for a family of 4. This included the round of golf, and one cart that sat 4 people. When I got there I was told the special was for only 9 holes and not 18 like I first inquired about. I calked it up to a miss understanding, regardless we took the 9 holes and paid the special price of $70 plus tax. It was once we got out and saw the cart for the first time that made us really laugh. The 4 person cart was a utility cart that sat four people but didn't have a place for our clubs. We needed to pile the clubs in the back on the cart laying them down on top of each other. When I asked about getting two real golf carts instead of this utility cart I was informed by the pro-shop guy that they had already asked the boss and that he said no... This indicated to me that even the pro-shop attendee knew this setup was ridiculous as he asked his boss even before I got there. None the less, we piled our clubs into the cart and headed off. At first, things started off O.K as we were all laughing at the ridiculousness of the cart and the fact that we were only playing 9 holes. None the less, we were trying to make the most of our experience but things only got worse from there. After 4 holes the marshal came around and said the juniors were on the course now and we would need to speed it up... Two problems with this; 1st. we only had one cart with four people in it and we weren't hitting the ball to the same spot on the course, which meant more driving around the course. 2nd; we were well below our allotted time to finish 9 holes. We were on pace to finish the round in just under 2 hours, yet we had the marshal pushing us along (not fun at all). All in all, we tried to make the most of a really bad experience at this golf course. I happen to live in the area and I am a golfer that gets out around 40 times a year and this was my second time to this course. All though the course was in half descent condition I would never recommend this course to anyone given my experience. There is way better courses out there for the money and from what I've seen, better trained staff. This is my very first review of any course and that should tell you something about my experience. at this course. I must say, we did stay for food and my meal was good as was my kids meals, my wife's on the other-hand, not so much. All and all our waitress was wonderful and I do give her 5 stars and the restaurant 3 1/2 stars.

Course is in amazing shape! Hit 18 and was extremely happy with all greens and fairways. Staff were great and helpful, I took a little too long getting off on my tee time and the staff were super understanding. Ordered food and it was available to pick up at their entrance.
The course is fairly difficult but perfect for all levels from beginner to experienced because of the large fairways. Definitely will recommend and will 100% be back.

Here's a story for you. I just tried to book a 4some for October 21 at Metcalfe and was told they "can't book more than 7 days in advance because it would open them up to all kinds of people calling in and booking too early". Isn't that what reserving a spot is about?? Calling in advance?? So instead of booking my 4some at Metcalfe, (because Lord knows I don't want them bombarded by other people who want to golf that day), I found another course to book us in. Way to go Metcalfe for turning away 4 paying customers!!

Great golfing tucked away off highway 8. Dad and I played here and enjoyed it so much we went for another round. Clean fairways, well manicured greens, the first 5 on the 9 hole is a tad back and forth but the golfing overall was great. Clubhouse is loud but entertaining and fun. Fees are reasonable given the cost of other courses nearby.

I have visited Metcalfe Golf club on many occasions and always enjoy the atmosphere of the club and the exceptional service from the staff. Although I don't play golf, I have been told it is a great golf course, I have enjoyed many delicious meals in their restaurant, most recently the excellent Mother's Day brunch.

I live this place, the staff is super friendly and accommodating. The food in the restaurant is excellent. The course is not easy but you don't have to cross anything off the tee to get to fairway so inspire confidence for the novice. The green are in good shape. I recommend to all levels of golfers.
