Service was slow one of the two times I dined here. They brought me the wrong meal and the food was good but not amazing. Patio seating looked really cool but it was all full and had to sit inside, despite making reservations. Inside ambiance is nice though. Great for business meetings.

We have eaten at Meriwether's twice and loved it both times. We sat on the covered, greenery enclosed patio both times for a great Portland experience. The food is superb and diverse. We love that it is farm fresh. You have to try the More

Usually I would give a 5 star rating, but my last visit had really poor customer service, which included grumpy faces and sighing from the hostesses when we let them know that one of the party from our reservation was a baby. They came across as inconvenienced and put out. It was a really sad interaction over a 15 minute period. But, as usual, the food was excellent.

We went to Meriwether's to celebrate a marriage, and were a party of 6. We made reservations, and detailed plans for our special night. What a mistake. From the very beginning we were rushed and pushed through our meal. The server kept breaking into our conversation and asking us what we wanted next. He took our plates away before we were even finished, and we had to literally hang on to them to finish our meal. The manager came over and asked us to leave as she had "to turn the table." We spend almost $500 for the dinner, and expected to take our time, and enjoy this special night. It was absolutely awful. The food was very average, they took no time at all to explain the menu, or the items their menu so proudly touted as local and farm grown. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone as they simply don't care about your experience and only care about getting people in and then quickly out. They knew it was a special occasion and just couldn't see past making money. Entrees range from $30 to $40 and are generally way overpriced for what you get. Don't bother going to Meriwether's - as they are many far better choices in Portland that will honor the occasion and offer outstanding food and service! $500 and asked to leave so they could turn the table, that's unforgivable to us, we won't go back.

Another gem in the portfolio of great dining establishments - and we've been multiple times in the past 10 weeks. Vegan ground members were happy, carnivores were happy, and all farm-to-table fresh and creative!
Sunday night 8pm can be surprisingly quiet - good time for an intimate meal with friends where a conversation is paramount. Other times the place is crawling with folks and lots of fun! Try the patio dining, too....

My adult children decided to help me "celebrate" my 66th birthday by taking me out to drinks and dinner at Meriwether's. It was a grand culinary adventure and experience. The folks who took care of us were fantastic. The food was beyond description. The atmosphere was very comfortable and enjoyable. We certainly plan on visiting again, and again. Thank you so much for making our first time a great time.

I came here because it was highly recommended, and I am very disappointed. I ordered the bread dish as an appetizer, which tasted fine, but was only a meager four pieces of bread with oil. ( house made focaccia 5.50$) Most nicer places tend to be able to accommodate guests with complimentary bread, but not here. The bread was 5.50 too much. Then I had a salad which was way overpriced considering it was only 8 pieces of lettuce, sliced carrots and sliced radishes. It was covered in a very bitter dressing that was not at all appetizing. (farmhouse salad 12.5$)Then for the grand disappointment, i ordered one of the two pasta options. It was the Mezza Luna ravioli, and it was a sad sight. We counted a total of seven ravioli pieces. Seven pieces of pasta for 27$!The flavor was good however the sad amount of pasta made it totally not worth it. I was still super hungry after so i walked across the street to "The Gold" which is a Mexican restaurant. So if you're hungry after your Meriwether's dinner, try going across the street!

Hadn't been there for ages. Was surprised to see that a spring salad was $14. Hot tea $4.50. Can not go back at those prices even though it was tasty and the salad was big. The tea cup was ice cold and the hot water turned warmish when I poured it into the cup. I would expect warm cups for a $4.50 cup of tea.

Mediocrity at best! We were welcomed by a poorly dressed couple and after 10 minutes waiting at a half full restaurant, got seated next to a service area where a non-stop parade of waiters bumped into our table. The room was stuffed with tables so close together the wait-staff could not easily maneuver the incessant number of chairs they carried over our heads to other tables. Blinding street lights and deafening noise from patrons added to the nauseating ambiance that preceded our $200 meal. We particularly noted the 2% feed added to the bill to offset the new minimum wage which will not start in another 6 months! Then the menu touted their garden vegies, which never made it to our table, instead we were fed bagged green. The chef boiled my Idaho trout in bad oil atop lentils. I eagerly looked for the promised leak fondue, but alas it was nowhere to be found. Food should taste food and leave one feeling good. I'm sorry to say the chef failed at both of these. We could have tolerated the culinary attempt at being an upscale restaurant, but the horrible staff, seating and noise bring this one down to a 2 star or less. Do not waste your time here and don't believe it brings anything from their farm to the table.

Went for brunch on February 4th. Ambiance is nice and staff was very professional and welcoming. However the food was disappointing. The pork belly omelette was bland, and chewy. My wife's truffle scramble was overpowered by truffle oil and disappointingly oily in texture. Both our dishes came with potatoes that were over cooked as well as bland and several were blackened. Overall the food was bland and overpriced. We were saddened by this given that this restaurant was recommended to us. Perhaps their dinner service is superior. We will certainly avoid it for brunch in the future.

I would like to share my story with the people who use Meriweather's Gift Card in the future, because I had bad experience in this restaurant today.
A few month ago, after I paid my bill with my gift card in Meriweather. I thought my balance was about $5.00 shorter than I guessed, so I paid rest of the balance with a another gift card because there was nothing I could prove it. So when I came home, I wrote my remaining balance that was $40.00 on my card with a permanent pen. Today I went to Meriwheather and had a branch. Please, guess what was my balance on my gift card?!! This time, my left over balance was $13.00. Someone took $27.00 out of my card. I felt bad when I came back home, so I called to the restaurant and explained what happened on my gift card to one of the manager. Of course, she denied and asked me to bring my old receipt that was a few month old, and she said they keep all of their customer's receipts for 10 years and hung off. Who keeps gift card receipt and restaurant bill together for a few month? I know there is nothing to prove it if they say so. I just suggest to people who use Meriweather's Gift Card to be careful, and keep your balance well even though you can't prove it at all.
If it happens to you, than write it here, please.
By the way, their brunch is good as always.

Visiting from Naples Florida and we thoroughly embraced Chris Delaney's well thought out magic! No salt or pepper shakers on the tables here. Seated next to the six-foot water (should be Champaign) fountain outdoors I had one of the best trout dinners in my life! Growing up in Michigan's fishing environment and have had enough fish to sprout gills, I can say nothing but Wow about this dish. I see many of the reviews posted here warn of the high prices. I've paid and had $400 meals that weren't this good! This restaurant is another asset to Portland's amazing diversity and accomplishments in the growing food industry! Bravo!!!

At $100 per the food was mediocre at best. As a retired chef-disappointed. Loud. Service lacked presence. Salad a disappointment for a local-sourced food venue. 2% surcharge for minimum wage increase in package for December (when it actually changes in July 2017 per my understanding). Probably won't be back.

I like the concept of farm to table. They also have daily menus depending on what is available to them that day. The food really is delicious. Not saying this is a problem but the hours are a little different ghery aren't open regular hours. I think it has to do with the area it is in.

I have only been here once for dinner, so take this review with a grain of salt. The food was very good and for the most part reasonably priced for a nice dinner out. Out of the three dishes I was looking at, two of them were steep. My father-in-law and I split two dishes so we could try more. We ordered the beef Wellington and the pan roasted chicken. Both were very good, but the chicken had the more appropriate price range. Still, we mentioned to each other about splitting the dishes and the waiter overheard us and had the dishes cut in half for us. That was very cool. Also, doing that lowered the cost. Again, it was great food. Just felt like a high price for very specific dishes, not the restaurant as a whole. After dinner we had some desserts which were extremely good. Their chefs are all very skilled. I also enjoy the local sourcing. That is probably what raised the costs. None the less, we will be back to try the brunch. I am already salivating in anticipation.

One thing we noticed on the way out, they have a jar of mini play dough tubs for the children. Brilliant.

We went to Meriwether's to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary and it was wonderful. We ate outside on the patio and the aroma was so tantalizing with he smells of fresh bread and the growing garden. I was telling my husband the only thing that could have made the night even more perfect was if we could have arranged for it to be slightly warmer and as if reading my mind someone walked by and gave me (along with several others) a blanket for my legs.

I had a lasagna like I have never experienced before a freshly rolled out noodle stuffed with a variety of fresh and local mushrooms and some impressive sauce. My husband also really enjoyed his lamb ravioli.

They also surprised us with a complimentary glass of champagne. We followed the champagne up with a flour-less chocolate torte that was topped with local huckleberries.

Only complaint would be for the bar .. I felt like we sat for quite a while waiting for our drinks. As excited as I was for my drink I didn't like it at all .. the good thing is the server and the bar tender were eager to fix it and came up with something I liked much better. Side Note: if you like a VERY strong martini you would have loved this.

The crowd at Meriwether's was slightly older and that almost scared me off at first. I think in this case older and wiser is evident because everything was truly wonderful.

Nice restuarant, where they grow their own! Was a bit taken back with their prices, but then, I felt under-dressed for this cute little place. More upscale, but all are welcome. What we ate was superbly fixed and presented. Great place for that special night out!

Had a noon reservation. Seated 30 minutes later. Waited 30 minutes for food even though the place wasn't full. Paid $51 per person for a marginal brunch. Worst restaurant value I have ever had

Terrible restaurant. Multiple bad experiences here. If you want to wait a long time for food, pay an insane amount, and have awful customer service, then this is the place for you. Do not recommend at all.

We have used Meriwether's a few times for client events/presentations.

Pros:
Great food
Good wait service
PARKING!

Cons:
They put large groups outside when it's raining and cold and inside when it's nice outside which is extremely frustrating.

Went here for Easter Brunch and was less than impressed with the service. We had to wait 20 mins regardless of our reservation. Once seated the waitress came over and took our drink orders. It took obout 30 mins for us to get a cup of coffee. Food lacked any kind of seasoning, not even salt or pepper. Way over priced and the 20% gratuity was included on the check so we couldn t adjust it based on the horrible service we recieved. Only reason why I gave it two stars instead of one is bc the atmosphere was nice. Unless this place gets a new chef and staff, we won t be returning.

Nice ambience, indoors and the covered outdoor seating alike. Service and food is upscale. But the entrance is off a standard (narrow) sidewalk along a busy street in a partly industrial neighborhood. Which makes it an oasis! lol
