Management a great, love what I do, benefits should be there after 3 months, a year is to long, that's why I give 4 out of Five stars, ( still is a great company to work for, they care about there employees) .
Jim, Thanks for your honest response. Being retired now, I just can't see myself coming back to that type of work. It's good to know, if I ever need the extra money, I would have that chance to work their again. I always knew you were an honest man. I thought for sure that was your Lexus. LOL
It's a good company supervisor are great and they work with you if you need anything the only down fall would be that the pay But other than that I love the job
I worked for Merchant's Security for approximately 2 years. Great company, great people. Supervisors were courteous and respectful, however, if you continually called off, or came on shift late, etc., they would only tolerate so much, and rightfully so. When you did either of these 2 items, someone had to fill in that gap, even if they had already worked their shift. Rich and Tony were my Supervisors whom I respected and worked well with. Overall a good company and a good experience.
I have been working weekends with Merchants for a little over 4 months and I can honestly say its a really good job. Communication has been good, and the people I work with are always willing to help me out with any questions i have. i have no other words other than its a great company.
Great company to work for that truly cares about their employees. Merchants is a good place to start when you want gain experience in security. The diversity in the contracts they service make for an excellent opportunity to learn many new skills and gain knowledge about the business of security.
I worked at the Exel (Hormel) Trotwood distribution facility for a couple years and the merchants supervisors would come out about 4 times a month to check on the guards. I DIDNT care to check the employee's "EXEL" stickers during shift change because when you are paying me a little over minimum wage, you really dont give a crap about who you let in because if you get a complaint against you from the client, merchants security will simply move you to a different contract. When the supervisors would visit, it would mostly be small talk and jokes and nothing would be asked about the distribution facility or the instructions we had to adhere by based on the request of Exel. Its a complete false sense trust on their website when they claim that they employ " [a] reliable and carefully trained security force". My friend can easily enter any facility simply by executing the weaknesses I have told him based on my personal observations with the lazy guards I work with. Even though you have merchants guards on-site, dont get too cozy that your business is 100% protected according to your requests. The guards are very leinient due to the fact that you get what you pay for as in terms of making less than $300 a week after taxes full time. The trucks hauling over 40 thousand pounds of meat, we just waved them through because none of our merchants security supervisors put forth the effort to visit us regularily. The office on Wayne Ave. wants to be lazy. Well, so do I when nobody is watching me behind my back.
I've been working here for a few months and everyone has been pretty cool so far. The job is cool and people do not micromanage. Its not stressful and the supervisors are understanding. This job is great for someone who is not too much of a people person and who likes to work independently. I think this has been my favorite job since the pet store. Cons: There is not really any training.
I have worked here for fifteen years. I have good repore with the clients I work with. The company has issues and problems like all companies but overall they are a good place to work. I love my job and I love my current client that I work with. If you are a hard worker who likes to work with the public then this is the company for you.
From the time frame i worked at Merchant Services. I had to come to terms on a few things. One - When i first left the company I was outraged by the actions that were placed on me before i decided to leave on my own terms. However, looking back at the job - I did truly enjoy some of the factors there. But Merchant Services at the time needed some improvement. Supervisors at the time were a hot commodity but sadly Merchant services couldn't hire more at the time. Which made the job significantly more difficult to do our jobs correctly based off our procedures. The good news I've heard recently ( Merchant services has changed ) with improvements. Overall - Depending on the Site you were at I would say this company at least deserves 2 to 3 / 5 stars. I would rate them higher if I could personally see the changes and know the bad things I had to deal with when i worked for them have been resolved.
I love working at merchants the people are so friendly and my wife recently fell down the stairs at home and they let me off early so I could go to the hospital to see her she is doing ok now and I just want merchants to know that I thank them for everything they have done for me thus far I will continue to work for merchants for as long as I can I also love love where I am working
Originally an unsavory experience with some intolerable individuals, the past couple years have seen a gradual improvement over time with said people being removed. More effort is being spent on keeping the guards happy but there's still room for improvement. Overall not a bad place to work.
An excellent security service with extreme attention to detail and customer service. Employees are top-notch, well-trained and motivated to take on any service needed by the customer.
Wouldnt recommend them at all. Strange people who look at you crazy and judge you based on your skin color rather than your work performance. Not a good place to work also they under pay you.
Coming up on my fifth year of employment, so I thought I'd write a review as a form of appreciation for the wonderful opportunity.
Jim, Nate, Dennis, Greg, Russ, Heather and all of the K6 and Motor Patrol. Thank you for the opportunity, continued support and acceptance. It has truly been an honor to work here.
As an employee: Opportunity is the number one factor here at Merchants Security. If you want overtime all you have to do is ask for it. If you want to work at multiple locations, easily done. Uniforms that look great, peers that focus on the job, and superiors that focus on customer satisfaction. Being a self-motivated employee means all the difference.
As a service: You won't find a more able and well equipped team to meet all of your needs. Friendly, competent, reliable and approachable. Not to mention the loyalty we bring to the table. I've known guards who shown up to shift no matter the conditions, rain, sleet, and snow.
Once again, thank you so much for the chance to make something happen. Here's to another five years!
Merchants is by far one of the better Security Companies. There pay is above average for the area, ample chances for OT, management is very easy to talk to and assist when questions arise.
