The ED (emergency department) and the heart center...
The ED (emergency department) and the heart center are top notch. However...the nursing staff on other floors (3rd floor, particularly) are glaringly incompetent, rude, forgetful, and overall, just not capable individuals, nor do they work as a team. They forget to bring food to diabetic patients, or give them insulin without food, and in some cases, will outright lie to you. To your face. They will also forget to log certain events (bloody vomit, odd colored other bodily functions, etc.) In addition to this, they will discount information on prescription meds, if they think they either know more than previous prescribers, or just don't feel like dealing with the "hassle" of having to give meds. So overall, this hospital has been a mixed bag. It used to be a 4 star hospital, but now? 2 stars and getting worse. Their level of pay is sub average, so they don't attract the best care givers around. The nurse my mother had this last week seemed like he was just trying to cause the hospital a wrongful death lawsuit. He pushed meds through her IV that was infiltrated. Not just once, but twice! So the meds pooled in her tissue, instead of getting into her bloodstream as needed. Severe incompetence. Or maybe he just didn't care? I'm trying to figure out which is worse. He failed to log certain events, and had other failings as well.
Some meds can cause tissue death when that happens. Then, when a new nurse was put on her case, she outright lied to our faces. If you have a choice in treatment, use a different hospital. At least until McLaren quits dragging this once great hospital into the sewer.
