Excellent clinic.....using clinic facilities for 30 plus years. We are very fortunate to have a clinic of this large size with all of the specialties available in Central Iowa. Both Mary Greeley and Story County Hospital are very modern and support each other during any major events.

Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about the things that matter
McFarland, hands down, is predatory. They only seek your money to line their pockets. They care not for the poor, the helpless, the people who have no support but truly need medical help. They choke out all competition. Ask yourself, why are there no other choices? Where is Unitypoint, Mercy Clinics? Why are we force to have no options in this town? What backhand agreement did the city of Ames and McFarland make? This kind of cutthroat and Predatorily tactics is never for the good of the people, it further pushes them further away from access to a basic human right. Access to healthcare.
All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing

Tried rejecting work release due to medical condition. My neurologist at McFarland had prescribed wrong dose of medication. Now seeing Dr's in Iowa City at the University of Iowa clinic. Mcfarland wouldn't sign a work release but signed a letter for DOT for license. Very messed up that mcfarlands neurologist caused my problems, then occupational medicine rejected me. Thank God for the University of Iowa hospitals. Will gladly make that drive to not see anyone at McFarland. By the way, have had no problems since the University of Iowa has me on the correct dose of medication!

My feedback is I went over your heads and got the job anyways

McFarland Clinic through the years has had its ups...

McFarland Clinic through the years has had its ups and downs as far as care is concerned. They are able to provide some great medical care, but it will come at a cost to you. We all know just how expensive medical care can be for persons during economical downturns and struggle. McFarland will make sure you do NOT get care with them, even if your debt is over a dozen years old. They just don't care about the little guy. To them, medicine is a business, and if you can't pay, too bad. What's worse is that the woman in their Financial Department is extremely condescending, and she will use her position to snark at you, laugh at you, and basically treat you as a low life because you couldn't afford medical care during the recession, or any other long, long ago period. They want ALL their money up front, or no care at all. Frankly, humiliating people for medical debt is pretty disgusting... and the problem is McFarland has a monopoly of care in this area. Other clinics are either likely not covered by insurance plans and seen as out of network, or they are outside of the immediate area from basic public transportation. It hurts my heart to see a medical clinic doing this to people. This is a clear violation of "do no harm," when you don't care how you harm the mental health and the welfare of others, over a buck. I am especially disgusted they keep that woman employed there. I guess it shouldn't surprise anyone that they are greedy, and careless, since when they expanded their facilities and damaged the homes of the surrounding area, they could care less about compensating those people for their trouble. This place is pitiful.

Countless HIPAA violations have been reported and no action has been taken - Administration will never take action against department managers due to their lack of ability to hire new staff. A supervisor specifically told me a patients name, their living situation, their diagnosis, etc.
I was/am not involved in this patients care nor was I authorized to receive this information. A HIPAA complaint was filed and no action was taken.

Be careful on how you d like to be treated and if you want your health information spread across the clinic.

These people take great care of their patients. But because of Covid I was separated from from my Dad. Not able to be with him during labs and other appointments. He very well could have gotten moved. And he was without me being told. Let caregivers back in.

I have to say that Chelsea NP (lily pad and care coordinator) just set me up with the best Allergy MD I have ever met. Dr. Brown is fascinating. He loves his specialty and loves educating. I have learned more in 1 appointment from this passionate, brilliant, interesting, empathetic doctor than I have in the months that I have been having problems. I am so glad that I found McFarland Clinic. Everyone here has been professional, kind, helpful.
