Maumee Bay Resort and Conference Center Reviews

Maumee Bay is still a fun place to visit and has something for everyone. But sadly, COVID based budget cuts have taken their toll. The flowers and landscaping are at a minimum. When we were there the fountain in the front pond wasn't running. Staffing has been cut. It is still worth going and we use the marina which is modern and sheltered from the weather. Maumee Bay Lodge has an indoor pool, hot tub and gift shop. The Nature Center has been closed since the pandemic. Lots of walking trails, bike rentals and golf are available. The huge beaches are crowded on weekends. A great bird watching place in the Spring.

Ate Lunch here was very good at the Lodge a day prices were reasonable and not expensive at all espically the portion sizes we all recieved. Hit the beach looked at the boats, not many since season just began. Good time with Family

This review is related to the Water s Edge restaurant at the lodge. We went to the restaurant during breakfast hours. We stopped at the hostess s desk to request seating. The hostess leads us to our table, provided us with waters and menus, and we waited for a waitress to take our drink and food orders. We waited and waited and waited. Meanwhile, the waitress working our area was attending to all of the tables around us. She even attended to a party who was in the restaurant just to sit, they were not even eating. We continued to wait, while watching her continue to service everyone around us, completely ignoring us. We were seated near the entrance to the kitchen, so just about all of the waitresses working there had to pass by our table multiple times. No one stopped by our table, no one acknowledged us, and no one asked if we had been waited on.

Finally, a waitress who was working on the other side of the restaurant, shouted out does anyone have table 35? Or something to that extent. No one responded to her. We knew she was referring to our table. Finally, she came over to us and asked if we had been serviced. We responded no . She told us that there was a mix up and no one knew who had our table. We knew that wasn t the truth. Before we were seated, I noticed that the hostess had a map of the restaurant in front of her. The names of the waitress were listed on the map, and you could see which waitress was responsible for which tables. There was a waitress assigned to our table. She, however, chose not to acknowledge us or service us. All of the waitresses passing by ours ignored us as well. They all saw that we had not been serviced, so that wasn t a legitimate excuse.

I wasn t quick to assume this, but I began to feel as if we were being discriminated against. We were the only African-American party in that area, and only 1 of 2 African-American parties in the restaurant. My feelings were confirmed by what we experienced next when a Caucasian party entered the restaurant. I can tell that they did not stop at the hostess s desk because they picked their own table, and they did not have drinks nor menus, which was usually provided by the hostess after seating. They hadn t sat for 5 minutes, before the waitress working our area greeted them, asked if they were eating, took their drink orders, and yelled out let s get these folks some menus! . Wow! We went through the proper protocol of stopping at the hostess desk and we could not get service. Meanwhile, a Caucasian party did NOT follow proper protocol, went straight into the restaurant, picked out their own table, and they were serviced within minutes of sitting.

Needless to say, we will NEVER return to this resort, we will be reporting our experience, and we will be sharing the discrimination that we experienced with others. I know this isn t a 5 star restaurant, but whether or not someone receives basic service shouldn t be determined by the color of their skin. Period.

The lodge, park and surrounding area have a lot to offer. There are many things to see and do to keep you busy, and lots of nice quiet areas to spend some time if you just want to relax. Unfortunately, our stay was very short, so we were only able to take advantage of a few amenities. I rented a cottage for my stay. The cottage was very comfortable. The only thing I would recommend would be to bring baking and serving dishes with you if you intend to fix your meals in the cottage. My cottage only had one serving bowl and one platter. I didn't see any baking dishes, but there were pots and pans.

It has been newly renovated and is a beautiful lodge. We stayed in a lake view deluxe king room. There were a few things that the room was missing. Our room was missing : a safe in our room, towel bars in the bathroom and not enough hangers. They took care of the hangers immediately.
They have big fireplaces in the lobby for everyone to enjoy. Also many walking trails, that were very well maintained!

Everything you could want is here! Lake Erie waterfront w. beach/smaller inner lake w. beach/great trails and boardwalks/indoor and outdoor pools/great food in the restaurant/clean rooms...the works! Not all amenities were open yet (early May), but I will definitely come back to see this place in full swing in the summer!

We rented a cottage for a mini vacation. We were still able to use the services of the lodge. We took several nice walks and enjoyed the pool and spa. We were somewhat disappointed by the litter that is probably attributed to not recovering from that recent major snow. Some areas could use "freshening/update". We enjoy the privacy of the cottages and the ability to prepare our own meals. We were even able to take a pet with us.

Tammie at the front desk was extremely helpful and friendly. What a gem!!

This place is a hidden gem! It is peaceful and beautiful. The rooms are clean and sanitized, the restaurant located inside this resort, has good food reasonably priced. There are splash areas near the pool for the kids. It includes a sauna and 2 jacuzzi tubs for relaxation, an arcade, and volley ball court are located inside. There are also tennis and basketball courts for those who love outdoor sports. There are also hiking trails and it's all located right on the lake! If you want a couples retreat or just a family get away, check this place out. However you will need to dress warm when the weather is under 70 degrees, with it being right on the lake. This is a beautiful peaceful place. We could step out onto our patio and see the lake!

We had one of the best rooms in the Lodge. It had a patio right on Lake Erie. It was a nice size room with a nice bathroom. The shower was super nice with a waterfall and many other water jets. We enjoyed the lounge both evening for happy hour. Erin was a friendly and very knowledgeable bartender. Great Birthday getaway!

We love this place! We've been to several hotels in Toledo and won't be Bay Lodge is by far the best place if you need to have a hotel room. The restaurant serves excellent food. The pricing is very fair. Of course when you go it's best to get a view of lake Erie. I did get a chance to play golf and enjoyed their golf course and driving range as well. I have not yet rented one of their cabins but will soon do that with a couple family members. The hotel is clean and very comfortable. The atmosphere is relaxing the front lobby is very comfortable as well. A lot of entertainment for younger kids. They had kid play areas. A place where you can play handball or volleyball. Exercise rooms all of which was inside. Will definitely be going back there. Five stars all the way.
