We moved to MGH Aylesbury in AUG 2019. During our new home search, we found many developers around; however we found MGH specifications and build quality exceptional. Throughout the process the MGH team were so helpful especially Emily and Jo (Thank you for your friendly and smooth service!). Even after moving in, MGH customer care team and Site Manager were so responsive to our queries.

We would definitely recommend MGH properties to our friends and families without any doubt.

Thank you for your great support! Mr and Mrs Tank

I feel that the one star reviews are unfair and so...

I feel that the one star reviews are unfair and so I feel it only right as a resident of their Summerswood development 6 months in that I offer my own view.

First the purchase; this went smoothly although we were put under what I felt was an unreasonable amount of pressure to complete within a very tight timeframe. Clearly MGH needed to get some cash together to continue the development. This pressure and the various associated agreements we were obliged to sign made us rather nervous and uncomfortable but in the end our solicitor managed to turn things round very quickly and our buyers were in a great position to meet the timescale.

Now the move; this went smoothly and the site manager, Joe Beard, was wonderful, he made a real effort to make us feel at home and looked after us right from the off. Indeed Joe is to be commended for the customer service he has provided over the last 6 months.

Aftercare; I was nervous about the 'snags' and having never moved into a new home was worried about what I might find and how promptly things would be resolved. I need not have worried. It is true that there were snags, every new build has them, and indeed I raised over 25 issues in the first 28 days. Most of the snags were minor. Since then I have raised more than a dozen further issues which have all been resolved within days or weeks at most, some within the day. In summary I would say that 80% of the snags shouldn't have been there at all and I believe MGH would benefit from a quality assurance (QA) inspector. The snags are as a result of the way the developer employs contractors from the various trades. Many of these contractors aren't particularly loyal or diligent and go in and out to do a particular job on a price which means they rush the job and dont do anything other than what has been stated on the job sheet. This results in issues with the finish and compromises the quality of the product. Its a problem for all developers but one that the employment of a QA inspector would largely resolve.

As I say, there have been many issues, far more than I had imagined and clearly some careless and lazy contractors have worked on my property but the fact is that MGH have resolved everything promptly to a very good standard and for that they deserve credit.

Whilst things haven't been without issue we love the house, the interior was very well thought through, it's light, spacious and well equiped and the exterior is sympathetic to existing properties nearby. MGH have achieved a lovely blend with the existing landscape and we are proud to own a home within our MGH development. For that reason I feel a 4 star rating is realistic. If they get the QA inspector in place to resolve the snags before the customer moves in they would get that extra star.

Update April 2019. It took 15 months to get all the snags and other issues resolved, we lost count in the end but possibly up to 80. Not what you expect buying any new product. However, finally we appear to be defect free. The number of defects discovered is completely unacceptable. However we are now comfortable in our home and hopeful that we can now sit back, relax and enjoy it. I ve therefore increased the star rating back to 4.

From the moment we first saw our home, we were impressed by the style and design choices that had been made. The house was obviously of a superior quality to other new builds we had seen, with more character and more attention to detail. As soon as we put in our offer, the sales team were exceptional. They kept us updated on the progression of the build and we were able to visit whenever we wanted to get measurements, review the progress and ask questions. Our point of contact at the sales office was impeccable. She answered all of our hundreds of questions quickly either in person, via email or on the phone. You absolutely knew, as a buyer, she was committed to you to ensure things ran as smoothly as possible. Even once we moved in, she answered other queries that occurred and popped round to check we were ok.

We recently moved to Summerswood a Martin Grant development in Ifield near Crawley and can safely say it was the best decision that we could have made.
We had looked at other new builds in the area but the houses never had the feel of the house we bought at Summerswood.
The house is well built and had been finished to a high standard with a superbly fitted kitchen and lots of features that make the house feel very spacious.
All the little snags we had were dealt with immediately and Joe the site manager was always very happy to make sure everything was sorted out to your satisfaction.
In fact the customer care has been second to none and Sarah helped us so much with regard to our move here.
We would definitely recommend a Martin Grant Homes development to any of our friends and family.

I do not live in a MG home, however, I have the misfortune to live in a road which has recently has a MG development, During the 8 months build they ran hundreds of heavy vehicles into the site. This severely damaged the road. MD generously repaired the road adjacent to the site but absolutely refused to repair the other damage, blaming "bin lorries" and "other site traffic". Their MD Mr Hamilton was particularly unhelpful. "Profit not people" should be their moto.

They make basic and cheap houses where the emphasis on costs rather than quality.
Even when they repair things they send inept workman with gutter mouths and no skills.
Changed my rating to 1 star after living in their home for the last year, cheap materials and poor workmanship is how they build these house, so be warned.

We bought an MGH home on the King's Reach developm...

We bought an MGH home on the King's Reach development in Biggleswade in 2013. We had a few initial glitches, nothing major, but did later find the ensuite cold and had a leak in one of the bedrooms. The cold ensuite, we were told, was 'normal'. It took four years and many emails to get them to come and look at the bedroom leak; it only took a squirt of silicone in the right place to fix it.
Soon after the bedroom leak was fixed we found the cause of the cold ensuite - there was no insulation in the attic above it. We also found that the ventilation ducts had been fitted incorrectly in the attic, draped over the trusses in a way that can allow condensation to form inside them. That was a breach of building regs but we had to pay for someone to fix it because we didn't find it in the 2 year warranty period.
Soon after that my partner became disabled; our house was, internally, well suited to a wheelchair. Externally it was different. Building regs require a level threshold and we have a 3 inch step (and some MGH houses on this development are worse!) and the roads had been laid out as per plans developed before the DDA came into force in 2004; our route to the main shop on the estate involved cobbled or rutted grass/mud surfaces, and was not at all wheelchair friendly. I contacted MGH about this two years ago and they don't seem to be interested in solving it, they seem to want to palm the problem off on to the council.
In short - I would recommend anyone buying an MGH home get a surveyors report within a month or two of moving in, and notify MGH of all issues they find, and chase them to ensure they are.
I would also recommend that any local planning authority involved in dealings with MGH check their work very carefully, for they have quite clearly signed off properties and roads on King's Reach Biggleswade as being compliant with the necessary legislation when they shouldn't have done.
