Horrible customer service! I literally called before driving all the way there. It's a one hour round trip, for us. The man who answered the phone said they rewire lamps for $25. After my arrival, the man gave a convaluted excuse why he didn't want to fix it. People would rather you be honest on the phone. UGH

I replaced a Dyson with a Simplicity vacuum from MarBeck two years ago and I still like it so much better then the Dyson. This is my go too place for filters for my fridge, vacuum bags, and small appliances. I always receive courteous service and I highly recommend this store. My only complaint is they don t stay open late enough.

I came in about an hour to closing time, brought in a Orek XL2 that was passed down to me. Come to find out it was missing a piece, which was $45 dollars and they would have to order it.
As I was waiting for the gentleman that helped me to find the part, I saw some refurbished vacuum, got it on sale for $90 dollars. Great place to buy vacuums at! Would recommend this place to anyone that needs appliances.

A repair on my wife's KitchenAid mixer required the removal of a "groove pin." Ordinarily a simple step, the pin can sometimes become stuck, as ours did. Not wanting to damage the appliance, I decided that I would take it to Mar Beck to have the pin removed.

I told the man behind the counter that my wife's mixer had a stuck groove pin, and I asked if they could get it out. His answer was that they "have a Technician" who "services the appliances." (Yes, of course they do. That's why I was there.)

This is what the conversation should have been:
Me: Can you get this stuck pin out?
Him: Yes.
Me: How much will that be?
Him: A zillion dollars.
Me: Ok.

Instead, he explained condescendingly that if I used a punch and a hammer I could remove the pin by simply tapping it. I told him I had tried that, with a punch and a hammer I bought specifically for that purpose. The pin was STUCK -- which is why I came to them for help. (Why I had to justify asking for help -- which I was prepared to pay for -- is a mystery to me.)

This prickly little man seemed to be offended that I had the audacity to try to repair my appliance myself! He told me that if I wanted their Technician to Service The Appliance, there was a 5 day backlog. My wife needed the mixer before then, so I went home and put it back together.

What this profoundly unhelpful man never did was offer to serve me. That's an incredible failure for a person who makes his living in the service industry. He doesn't seem to understand that the Technician services the appliances, but his job is to serve his customers. That is, as long as he still has customers. It's no wonder to me that Mar Beck has closed two of its three stores.

The guy on the phone didn't mince words at all. All business and not much help. Seemed as if I was annoying him when all I did was call and try to find a part. Not shopping here. You just lost my business.

These guys are great. Each employee there has years and years of experience, and they are factory authorized to repair MANY brands including Eureka, Bissell, Kitchen Aid, Cuisinart, Hoover, Dirt Devil, and Black and Decker. You may have to wait for a warranty repair for a couple of weeks like you'll see in some other reviews, but it's not Marbeck's fault. Virtually all small appliances are made in China now, and the companies don't necessarily import any replacement parts. It's not uncommon for a company like Bissell or Hoover to take 3-4 weeks to get replacement parts to them to finish a repair. If it's under warranty, there's no charge to the customer for parts or labor. Be thankful that there's still a company even working on small appliances. It cracks me up that someone would buy a $49 vacuum cleaner at Walmart, expect a free repair, but not understand that there might actually be a wait involved! Gasp!
I've been using Marbeck since the mid-90's.

Took my Bissell in for warranty work the beginning of January because it didn't work. I keep having to call and check the status and keep getting told 2 more weeks, we'll now here it is the 2nd of March and I still don't have my carpet cleaner back and still no word after they said they couldn't fix it. Was told Bissell is sending me a whole new unit and it would be two weeks when I spoke to Bill on Feb 17th... GUESS WHAT?? NO UNIT AND NO COMMUNICATION FROM THEM EITHER!!

This place has no respect for the word COMMUNICATION, if you have someone's things you should keep in contact with them don't just leave them hanging and waiting.. CALL YOUR CUSTOMERS!!

Fantastic folks, great service. I needed a couple dryer parts and they were quick to help and provide suggestions for me. They have most items I needed in stock and ordered the one they did not carry. I ended up having to return one item and they were helpful and quickly got me taken care of. Can't recommend highly enough!!

I've done business at this small store for years. I recently purchased $63 worth of small items, including filters for my humidifier. Buy 3 get 1 free!! Great deal right? Well the clerk gave me the wrong size (even though I had a picture of the model number for his reference). I put a new filter in and because the size was incorrect, it made a crazy rattle! Knowing they would not want or accept a wet/used filter, I took the other 3 back for a refund. $7.99 per filter. Purchased on the 10th I returned on the 15th....but the clerk would only refund me for TWO of the filters, even though I gave him THREE! Over the cost of one filter...(maybe $2 total for them), THEY HAVE LOST A CUSTOMER!!!!!! I even said the clerk, "seriously? Should I have brought in the wet filter?" to which he replied, "we would not have taken it back".

POOREST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I needed a part for our washer machine. I told the man what brand it was. He knew the part number off the top of his head. I didn't even give him the model number. The Overland Park location is MY store. They always have what I need.

Where's the ZERO STARS??!! On Mar Beck's web site, I searched for my Crock Pot's Model number, got to the page showing the replacement crocks, clicked on it, ordered it and then received the wrong sized crock - it does not fit my crock pot's base unit. When I contacted Customer Service, I was told to return wrong one (at my $8.99 shipping expense) and do the same thing again to order the replacement crock (with another $8.99 shipping). I replied that I have no confidence in their website as doing the same thing would potentially result the same wrong part again. They replied with "sorry for your confusion" and no further support.

Beware! this was my experience, I'm sure I'm not alone.

Purchased black and Decker coffee pot. Little high priced compare to competitors. But hears they are family owned. The coffee pot fell apart while removing from box and was low quality. Planned to exchange for better product. However, the desk clerk was rude and irritated about the return. I can get that service at walmart. And the price us better. I guess local isn't better

Poor communication, customer service and knowledge...

Poor communication, customer service and knowledge, I had to give them one star because zero was not possible. They just don't care. Took a Eureka vacuum in for repair, and the service representative said it would be about 2 weeks to get the part plus repair time. THREE MONTHS later, I picked the after Eureka contacted us. MarBeck wouldn't fix it. Turns out they don't repair Eureka vacuum cleaners if it is warranty work.

I had called several times inquiring to the status of the repair, to which I was told they would call when it was fixed. They just don t have the time to communicate with their customers. Eureka notified us to pick up the vacuum and take it somewhere else; they could not work with Mar-Beck and have terminated their contract.

When I went in to pick up the still broken vacuum, I asked him why did not tell us the vacuum could not be repaired there, or just call to pick it up? Why hold on to it for three months?? He didn t want to talk about it, and just turned and walked away.

If you need your vacuum stored for a long period of time, this is the place. If you need your vacuum repaired, I suggest another somewhere else.

Several of their male employees were arrogant, rude, condescending, and very difficult to do business with. That would explain why their Independence, Missouri and one other location are now closed! You reap what you sow!!! I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. Save yourself the trouble and take your business elsewhere because this place doesn t respect customers, cannot comprehend customer loyalty, nor do they have the capacity to express genuine appreciation for the valued business those customers bring.

Signed,

A PREVIOUS 25+ YEAR LOYAL CUSTOMER

I would NOT recommend this company .They fail to give reasonable accommodations, lie about sending an e-mail after requested many times due to hearing loss and learning disability. KitchenAid said to call them and they would mail apart because KitchenAid doesn t keep parts it s a small part but they said they don t mail it and they didn t understand that I can t hear the part numbers over the phone and process them but he didn t care. He also refused to allow me to speak to the owner of the company. So now I m stuck with over a $600 make sure that I can t use because it doesn t have a proper foot and you can t use it without the foot. This is disgraceful way to treat a veteran and any person.

I took my Bissell here as recommended by the manufacturer due to a defect. They told me it would take 5-6 weeks to fix. Most of the time was allotted to Bissell delivering replacement parts. I contacted Bissell directly in order to speed up the process. It took 3 weeks, but Bissell sent the wrong model and they delivered it to Marbeck. Markbeck should have caught this mistake before I left the store. Now, I have to contact Bissell again to get the problem corrected.

My partner brought in our upright vac, basically for a tune up. I could not be happier with its performance now! My rugs look better than they ve looked in ages. Just like cars, sweepers need a good, professional overhaul from time to time. They fixed issues we didn t even ask about and returned it 100% cleaner looking than it was upon delivery. I was adamant about not wanting a new vac because I loved this one. I could not be happier, nor could my rugs, with the service our old Hoover WindTunnel received. We are customers for life now.
