I used to go there a lot but the customer service is been very bad lately
We used to go all the time as we really like the food. Last night we decided to go back to the Darlinghurst store. Staff were far too busy talking to eachother the whole time. Asked me questions then talked to for another minute before asking me the same questions.
When I paid the girl did not smile or say thanks but passed the money to me rudely and turned her back and kept talking to her friend
Worse part was the quessadillas, not sure on the spelling were in large parts empty with NO food inside. I would say between 30% and 40% of the quessadillas had zero filling insde only flat toasted bread.
We will not go again.
Quick fast healthy options. I ordered the quesidilla and it was awesome.
Delicious! I'm from the US and Mad Mex blows Chipotle out of the water. Grande Melt is great!
Dense bricks of mexican goodness. Add all the extras as usual. Don't worry about drinks cos they are exxy just go for the burritos! The one on King Street is probably even better though.
For inexpensive, tasty, satisfying Mexican food, come here. I love the options that Mad Mex give you and for a 'fast food' type franchise it really delivers. Love their black beans and the pulled pork.
Mad Mex is such a let down nowadays. The burritos lack any real flavour, need to be drowned in the hot sauce provided. The Churros is a joke.
The place always so clean, very friendly staff, the food is always so fresh and good. I really love having this authentic Mexican food. The guacamole is super fresh and good
I thought it would be in the public interest to report the following...
A few days ago my partner and I had a beef burrito at Mad Mex. When I arrived home I stated to experience some bad pain in my stomach, the pain progressively got worse. Between 12:00pm and 5:00am I went from vomiting continually to the most severe stomach pain I have ever experienced. The pain was so excruciating that at 5:00am, my partner took me into the emergency department at St Vincent's hospital. I was admitted and eventually put on a drip. At this stage I did not know if it was the Mexican food I ate at Mad Mex or something else, as my partner at this stage had not shown any symptoms. After 12 hours of all kinds of blood test, scans etc, It was clear that I had eaten comtaminated food at Mad Mex. Unfortunately when I got home I found that my partner was now almost as bad as I was.
We still have not fully recovered. Neither of us are sensitive to food and this is the first hospital visit I have had after birth, I'm 33 years old.
I have reported the incident to the NSW Food Authority and they said they will investigate Mad Mex. I am sure there are other victims as we went the only customers that night, I hope they also come forward to report.
Mad Mex clean up your act and stop making your customers sick...
I used to head out to Mad Mex in Darlinghurst quite often and started going to Newtown one instead because it's closer. Food is generally good and fresh, sometimes not as tasty though. Last experience was so so, I went there for their special price $5 buritos, the meal was not a good as normal but you can't complain for that price, I guess they were too busy that day. Anyway will come back for more.
My first mad mex experience was at this store and it was fantastic. I walked in not knowing what to expect and it was brilliant. Every since the first time I have eaten it atleast once a fortnight. Thank you for the fantastic food.
worst service ever. Ordered off deliveroo clearly stating NO SALSA. It comes with Salsa. I think okay no worries, I'll call the store and see if I can get another one sent to me. The phone was answered by a very rude male, who told me to call back in half an hour cause they're busy. I was not going to wait another half an hour just to speak to someone about getting the correct order. He then said "what do you want me to do". I said well I want the correct order, I was told again to call back later.
Not worth your money people.
Staff were very friendly, food was very tasty and fresh. Definitely coming more often to this place
Beware if you get the owner (tall Indian man) to make your burrito. Very stingy with the meat.
Cheap meals with great serving sizes, the staff are always friendly and fast. Delicious, and fresh. They always serve up consistent food. Fantastic for a quick lunch or dinner
Small fast food type place
Food isn't expensive, tend to have their burritos, always packed with flavor.
The best nachos in Sydney.......
They have awesome staff very friendly and fast service........
The food was fresh and tasted great I didn't leave a single scrap on my plate .I'd recommend it simply for its simple yet tasty dishes that are also relatively healthy provided you don't pack on the cheese etc etc etc
They also sell alcohol BEST MARGARITAS
Fresh and Fast, just how I needed it to be, thanks guys
Decent, hearty food with a better Mexican ethos than most of the imposters that have sprung up around Sydney. However it really doesn't capture the marinated-for-a-week richness of flavour that is typical in Mexico (even at roadside taco stands) and which Guzman y Gomez does well. Also, the hottest salsa, "picante", barely rates above mild. The burritos also aren't well formed, which might have something to do with me passing on the lettuce - suggested that, as with Zambrero, they pad out the burritos with lettuce in order to cut down on the core ingredients.
Great burritos! Love their pulled pork! Plenty of options to add on. Nice side options, large tortilla portion size compared to other local Mexican places. Some of the best guacamole I've had since arriving in Sydney.
Reasonably healthy fast food at this mexican style eatery. Service is fast and you can specify how spicy you would like your food. Alcohol available.
My friend got a BONE in her 'vegan' burrito bowl (I myself actually got a large amount of foil inside my food but that's not the point) . This rude lady who works there refused to give her even a partial refund! She then claimed that she 'couldn't identify the item' when asked if it was even edible she responded 'I don't know' which honestly sounds like a whole OH&S issue on its own.
When we clarified that the item was infact INEDIBLE and shouldn't be in the food she started becoming aggressive, slamming chairs and telling us she doesn't know who put it in their because she made it (blaming the customer). So basically what happened was she couldn't accept the fact that she was WRONG and in violation of several work regulations so she got angry at customers.
Terrible attitude.
The staff were very nice. I walked through to use the loo on the evening of NYE. The food smeel was very nice. I ll definitely try those ones
Food was made fresh. Was tasty. I ordered pickup through menulog, and the vegetarian option I had selected was all out, so they replaced it with the vegan chicken at no extra cost.
We placed an Uber Eats order and everything was delivered as requested. Food was great and the spicy salsa was decently spicy.
I will never get sick of this place - mad mex is the best and this Crown St store especially always deliver on the goods - burrito bowl or just normal burrito - they nail it every time
It's fast food, but from the better sort and good value for money! We liked the burrito.
Great food but every time we pay for extra sauce they are never delivered. 3 times now.
Staff let this place down. Too busy talking to take anyone s order.
Two more cheerful, friendly and enthusiastic staff you couldn't hope to meet! I had the naked burrito and it was really yum. I also had the lime margarita... delicious! Nice breezy spot to eat on a hot Sydney day. Loved it.
If you're after traditional Mexican food at a fair price then you can't go wrong with Mad Mex on Crown St.
I found this place by accident and have been back there every time I'm in the area. The service is always friendly and fast and the food does not disappoint. The servings of the burritos are generous and the meat tastes delicious.
Very recommended if you're into Mexican food, don't miss out.
If you are craving for Mexican food, try out Mad Mex. The food is consistently delicious. You can't go wrong when ordering a buritto, of course the guacamole is extra, but it makes the wrap more filling. Its nice to know that there is a place that consistently provides delicious food.
Always good for a workday eat with a good window bench to watch people from!
Wonderful! After a dearth of good Mexican food in Queensland I felt like I was back in NYC.
This place is awesome. You can either get pizza or pasta as mains and is very worth it during lunch where all dishes is $12. The portions are massive. The food is also creative. The menu changes at times too meaning you don't always have to order the same dishes. Like them on facebook and you can also get free shots (or has that expired)
A little too overpriced for the food quality.
Had the Nachos, they're okay but the cheese wasn't even melted.
Otherwise, hands down to the friendly staff and friendly environment.
A little far from any station but otherwise, tasty yum yum :D
I've eaten here twice and won't bother again. The first time the pizza was undercooked. The second time my pasta (ravioli) was actually burnt (not the butter). Its a shame, I like the concept (although BYO would suit this style better).. but not well executed.
Taqueria style mexican, pretty authentic. On par with Chipotle in the U.S. Great for a quick burrito.
Good for a quick bite. Best mexican burros in my opinion
A nice Mexican food joint, indoor and little outdoor seating. Pay at counter and take food. Sweet staff.
If you're trying to cut down on carbs these guys let you do double beans instead of half beans half rice. Guzman charge you for double beans.
I had a Grande Melt, it was one of the most horrible tasting food I ever had till now, also the sour cream was ozzing out, there was no flavor. I would never go to this place again
Not the biggest fan of burritos but it was ok, place is quite expensive, service was 2/5 and they wanted $1 to toast the Burito
WORST SERVICE EVER!!!!!!!! I passed over there and saw an advertisement FREE BURRITO , I downloaded the app and I did everything what I had to do , at the end The burrito was charged on my account and the staff said SORRY, we can t do anything . I paid 13.90 AUD for a free burrito .
You would think Nachos are a basic for these guys but apparently not! They can't grill cheese - only option is cheese as a sauce - what a joke.
Very good but a little overpriced, especially when you get the vegan option. ( + $1 for vegan cheese, +$2 for vegan chicken...)
Great outlet, friendly staff. Staff were really encouraging of the 1KG burrito challenge. Food was great and wasn't too crowded at lunch. Recommend if you are in the area.
fresh mexican food chain - good service and good location near oxford st
Place was a little bit dirty and staff seemed to be bored. Still food was tasty and price was good payed 12 dollars for a burrito. Good snack. I would eat there again
Good place for a quick break and fresh salad. The staff was really nice and fast with the food. I ve asked for a hot sauce and that was available on the tables.
Mmmm I had to pay 2$ extra to get just a bit more of off beef.. and it was nice to see the restaurant very dirty with 3 stuff just having fun and talking behind the bar/station..
the 3 starts where for the brand that I LOVE and the music but the staff -5...
clean up carajo... :)
This is absolutely C**p. I went there with great anticipation and expectations. THe staff was rude. There was no one there and they still threw my food around. Every little this costs extra. My buritto anded up costing me more than $10. I thought I was going to get a taste of mexico but got a mouthfull of microwave homebake mush. I wouldn't feed my dog this grule
Once you get a hang of the ordering system (think Subway), it's a pleasant experience! Fun decor, all you can pour picante sauce on the tables and a massive Grande Melt. Eat it with your hands!
Pretty standard example of a Mad Mex. They do everything right, nothing amazing though it is a good place for a beer with dinner before you go out cause it's never packed and the food is nice and cheap.
Of all the Mad Mex restaurants, this is by far the best. Delicious food, and great service
5/20/2020 around 8pm I ordered 3 tacos from a guy who had thick beard and wearing black uniform. I asked for 2 crispy and 1 soft tacos. He gave me a soft one without toasting it. After that I asked for 2chicken and 1 pork filling but ended up he gave me all pork fillings on 3 tacos. Really unhappy with his unprofessional service and his super bad attitude.
good food reasonably priced, excellent fast food option
Not a bad option. The price is right for quick serve Mexican here, but nothing really sets them apart.
Favourite pizza place in Sydney.
Great pizza, cocktails. MUST try the caramelised onion bread.
They are often far too busy so can be hard to get a table.
I am not a massive fan of Mexican food but this place is not bad. I had one of 1kg burritos as part of the challenge and got me a mask. The service was nice and friendly.
It was really bad. They used to have Latinos who knew how to what was needed for mexican food.
The nachos I ordered ended up soggie because they didn't drain the juices from the things they served.
The quesadillas were not crispy as they should be served.
Not going back.
Mad Mex has decent sized meals, they're fast and the food is always fresh. The burrito bread can be a little undercooked from time to time (tastes a little floury) but other times it's perfect. Some chain mexican stores get a little lazy with the guac, not Mad Mex, the guac here is incredible; garlic, lemon well season goodness. In particular i love their salsa's here. Warning: they're pretty hot so start with the mild and work your way up.
Food is great, it's pretty $$$ though especially for nachos or a burrito...2 ppl will easily be $30-$40..
Worst burrito ever.
Stone cold.
Food was OK but this place is pretty pricey. I was asked if I wanted 60gram of guac with the open burrito for extra 2$ . I'm a bit surprised that it doesn't include it already. An average size meal with a drink and extra guac costs around 18-20 dollars. Guac portion is too damn tiny! That made me unhappy.
Deeelicious. LOVE. very happy customer. Will be back. Burrito was great nachos yum.
