It's a nice little place and you can tell it is a working farm. It's nice to visit at still operational Family Farm. Not many left today. The cheese was outstanding and they have received numerous awards for their Cheese's.

Do not buy from this vendor. They do not stand by their products. I shop at the Woodstock farmer's market almost every Saturday. I purchase cheese every week I go. I went to use the last cheese purchased & found it to be extremely moldy. It was refrigerated from the time I bought it , so I took it back today to show them & get a replacement. I was told NO by the child that runs the Woodstock booth & that he didn't know what to do, there was no one else there. I called the Creamery to speak with an adult & once again told "I don't know" by the gal that answered the phone . Customer service is king in this world & this business doesn't have any.
Thank goodness there is another cheese vendor at the market.

About Ludwig Farmstead Creamery

Ludwig Farmstead Creamery: Crafting Artisanal Cheeses with Love

Ludwig Farmstead Creamery is a family-owned and operated artisan creamery located in Fithian, Illinois. The creamery was founded by Jim and Laurie Ludwig in 2000, with the aim of producing high-quality European-style hooped cheeses using milk from their own herd of cows.

The Ludwigs' passion for cheese-making began when they were living in Germany, where they fell in love with the rich and complex flavors of traditional European cheeses. When they returned to the United States, they decided to start their own creamery to bring those flavors to American cheese lovers.

Today, Ludwig Farmstead Creamery is known for its award-winning cheeses that are made using only the freshest milk from their grass-fed cows. The creamery's motto is "One farm, our cows, great cheese," which reflects their commitment to using only milk from their own herd of Holstein and Jersey cows.

The cheesemaking process at Ludwig Farmstead Creamery is a labor of love that involves careful attention to every detail. The milk is pasteurized on-site before being transformed into delicious cheeses that are aged for varying lengths of time depending on the type of cheese being made.

One of the most popular cheeses produced by Ludwig Farmstead Creamery is its signature cheddar cheese. This creamy and tangy cheese has won numerous awards at national competitions and has become a favorite among foodies across the country.

In addition to cheddar, Ludwig Farmstead Creamery produces a variety of other hooped cheeses including gouda, havarti, colby jack, pepper jack and more. Each type has its unique flavor profile that reflects both traditional European techniques as well as modern innovations developed by Jim himself over years spent perfecting his craft.

At Ludwig Farmstead Creamery visitors can take tours around the farm where they can see how everything works firsthand or even participate in cheesemaking classes offered throughout year-round events like Cheese Days Festival held annually during June month which attracts thousands visitors each year who come together celebrate all things cheesy!

If you're looking for high-quality artisanal cheeses made with love and care then look no further than Ludwig Farmstead Creamer! Their commitment to quality ingredients combined with expert craftsmanship makes them one-of-a-kind among American cheesemakers today!
