Our team has raised over $20,000 in the last 7 years for this organization for their annual bike ride. I took a close appreciation for what they did because I lost my Dad due to diabetes. But now I've lost all respect for this association the longer time goes by. We always had a TEAM that raised the average of $200/person from our TEAM. Now they are setting a new rule to that it doesn't matter if the team collectively raises average of $200/person on the team, each person MUST raise $200 no matter how much a team will raise, so now our team has chosen to never participate in this group again going forward. Sad they are chasing good people away with a passion for their cause and fundraising all because they are greedy after a buck. But I understand why now. I've looked further into the organization and learned lots of our money we raise for the cause is to pay salaries such as the CEO who gets over $1 million and roughly $9 million in Administrative costs. Now I see why the American Diabetes Assoc has a bad Fundraising Efficiency rating because wasteful spending and bad management means less money to fight this bad disease. Furthermore, the local Director Donna Betzer in Metairie, Louisiana is not someone I would work with again to form a few fundraising team. I miss Adam and Candace who did whatever it took for teams to participate and raise money AND AWARENESS for Diabetes. Looks like they are only concerned with money and profits now. Shame on them!!!!!!!!!
