Welcome to the Long County School System, a premier educational institution located in Ludowici, Georgia. Our district is committed to providing quality education to students of all ages and backgrounds. With a focus on academic excellence and student success, we strive to create an environment that fosters learning and growth.
Our district serves the communities of Long County, which includes the cities of Ludowici and Walthourville. We have six schools under our jurisdiction: Long County High School, Walker Middle School, Smiley Elementary School, Joseph Martin Elementary School, Long County Pre-K Center and Early Head Start Program.
At Long County High School (LCHS), we offer a comprehensive curriculum that prepares students for college or career readiness. Our faculty members are highly qualified professionals who are dedicated to helping students achieve their full potential. We offer Advanced Placement (AP) courses in various subjects such as English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, Science and Social Studies.
Walker Middle School provides an excellent transition from elementary school to high school for our students. Our middle school curriculum is designed to help students develop critical thinking skills while also providing opportunities for extracurricular activities such as sports teams or clubs.
Smiley Elementary School is where young learners begin their educational journey with us. We provide a nurturing environment where children can learn through play-based activities while also developing foundational skills in reading, writing and math.
Joseph Martin Elementary is another elementary school within our district that focuses on providing quality education for young learners. Our faculty members work closely with parents/guardians to ensure that each child receives individualized attention based on their unique needs.
The Long County Pre-K Center offers early childhood education programs for children aged 3-4 years old while the Early Head Start Program provides services for infants/toddlers up until age 3 years old.
We understand that every student has different learning needs; therefore we offer various programs such as Special Education Services (SPED) or Gifted Education Programs (GEP). These programs are designed specifically for students who require additional support or challenge academically.
Apart from academics we also encourage our students' participation in extracurricular activities like sports teams/clubs/organizations which helps them develop leadership qualities along with teamwork spirit & socializing skills outside classroom hours too!
Our district's mission statement reflects our commitment towards creating an inclusive community where every student feels valued:
"To provide all learners with opportunities necessary to acquire knowledge & skills needed by them so they can become productive citizens capable of contributing positively towards society."
We believe that every child deserves access to quality education regardless of their background or socio-economic status; therefore we offer free/reduced lunch programs along with transportation services within certain areas so no child misses out on learning due lack resources at home!
In conclusion if you're looking for an educational institution committed towards academic excellence & holistic development then look no further than the Long County Schools!
