The only reason I gave this school one star is because you have to in order to leave a comment. Dr. Culpeper and the vice principal and his wife all need people skills as well as alot of education on teaching children. They lack manners and social skills. They act as if their jobs are so superior and are oppositional when challenged with an educated parent regardless of the topic. They seemed mad that we are not dumb and know that we, as parents are our kids first educators. Mrs. Hicks was excellent and their art teacher was wonderful as well. I would never, ever send my kids there again or my dogs fleas here. The teachers quit every other month because of the crappy director and her unavailable schedule. Most of the kids are unruly and curse like sailors. The summer camp is a real joke where they advertise on the radio for the entire AV to come sign up but then after you turn in your enrollment forms early, they call you and say that it is full and they can't take your child. They truly suck as people and don't care about the kids or parents. They need to be investigated in every way possible. I was embarrassed to say that my kids went there for 5 months. I took them out after I was able to see what goes on there by volunteering every day. I would not send any one here who actually don't want detention for absolutely nothing in their detention room. This where you write standards for needing to go to the bathroom or having white soles on your shoes. It is pathetic to call this a school.
A reset button needs to pushed on this school with a whole new director and some staff. I remember my kids having 3 math teachers in a few months. This is just a terrible place to be. Don't waist your time.

My daughter use to attend another public school down the stret- they academic level was not high or even set to a standard and my child started to act out and lose interest in school all together. I moved her to L.S. at the begining of the school year and there has been 100% improvement! She is getting all A's and her speech has improved! She wont stop talking about how much she loves school and all the things she does throughout the day. I am very happy!!

First things first do not put your kid in this sch...

First things first do not put your kid in this school unless you want your child to fall behind. The school has nice festivals and things but the process behind the scenes is terrible. They ask for volunteers but do not reward them. At first people who volunteered would be more eligable to go on field trips than those who do not ,but now it;s p to the teachers. Then you ask the teachers and they refer you to the office. Now you at the office, what happens now...they send you back to the teacher ad the cycle repeats. Everything they planned was unorganized. On field trips, the buses wouldn't come or leave on time ,and that time would sometimes be hours. The teachers would sometimes not even last a few months before the kids got a new one. I remember one year my child had five different teachers for math. There would be days when my child would come home and say I didn't learn anything today in math or science or I'm just wasting my time in there. I agree with the other moms as well with the office staff. Ms.Lopez is very disrespectful ad does not have any patience for the parents. She thinks she runs the school or something. I was in the office with my child asking Ms.Powers a question when Ms.Lopez comes in. Ms.Powers looks at me and says one minute. That one minute turned into more than 20 minutes. I didn't know you had to leave a parent that you already were attending to go asses Ms.Lopez. I found that very disrespectful. Whenever there's a complaint and you want to talk to Ms.Culpeper, you can't. She's never there and when she is she's busy or in a meeting. You can't go assess your precautions because there's no one. You leave a letter or notice at the office and you never here from them. Overall, the school has too many problems for one to deal with.

I personally like the school. Unlike Ms. Ramirez unfortunately. I never experienced a school that gives money for scholars who recievie good grades. Or have family entertainment for everyone. Most of all scholars are being taught great education, social skills and being taught at a early age coping skills.

Everything about this school is horrible. The teachers don't have credentials, the principal is never at the school, the curriculum is not up to date, they are never available to speak to you, the office clerks NEVER know anything and don't get me started with their SUMMER CAMP. A week before it begins, they decide who gets to attend and who doesn't, any excuse goes, they don't care if they let the parent stranded with no were to send their child because they already reassured you that everything is ready for your child to begin. Although they told me before that the school had nothing to do with the summer camp, they told me they are only using the campus. After I called for over a week and they couldn't find my paperwork it magically appeared and they decided that he couldn't attend because he is not a "scholar" HE WILL NEVER AGAIN BE A SCHOLAR AT YOUR MAKE BELIEVE SCHOOL.

I believe every school can use improvement in the antelope valley but so do the families at home sending there children to school. You can't just send your child to school but not help them with homework at home. I personally like the school my child have been here for two years now and have improved so much also the after school program is nice my child get her home work n get to play active activities for free. I agree they need more staff but that takes time. I like the fact the kids are in uniforms keep them focus on what's important n less stress on the pockets not big on the locations kinda of small. The staff and teachers are nice and helpful never had any issues the school is nice I would and have recommended this school to friends and family.

This school is abosolutely horrible. My son had been attending since they were at the 10th Street West location. I immediately took my son out of the school because I was tired of getting phone calls every other day for him getting detention. He got detention for the smallest of things. All they want to do is throw kids in detention for talking and getting out of their seat. Not for fighting, being disrespectful or anything of that nature. The teachers don't have the patience to deal with children who need extra help. My son is one of those students. Teachers come and go and are always dropping like fly's. I took him out of that school in October of 2015 immediately and placed him in another school. He was struggling and behind. Today Oct 26th, 2016 I had a parent teacher conference and the teacher had nothing but positive things to say about my son. He got As, Bs and Es. She understands that he needs extra help and that is what teaching is all about. I emailed Dr. (I don't know if she even has the credentials to be called so) Culpepper regarding my concerns before I withdrew my son and she never responded. If you click on the link of their school report card and you will see that they rank very low compared to the district and the state, 62% of their students are African American and 33% are Hispanic/Latino and only 20% of the African American population are scoring at either proficient or advanced level and 67% of Hispanic and Latino are. I inquired several times about after school tutoring, when they moved to the new location no response. But they always offered, for a fee, childcare before school and during the Christmas and spring breaks. I know plenty of people that have taken their children out for the same reasons, and I run into people that have the same gripes. Funding should be taken away and given to a school that actually teaches children

My experience was just like ms. Ramirez's statement. My students attended lifesource for many years, before they moved from the 10 the street west location and after. The director dr. Culpepper has fallen off. There is bullying, unorganized staff, and low state performance scores. The final decision to take my students out came after I experienced the front office losing my paperwork 5 times, literally, for the summer school/summer camp program. The 5th time I gave the completed, personal forms to ms lopez at the front office, they were misplaced again. I was told it was too late for my students to attend even after there was proof that it was lifesource's mishap. I was told by the director in an email that she will address the matter after vacation... Well, I had to find my students a new summer school/summer camp that was available to them. I found them new schools to attend for the fall school year as well.
