Its a 3 star hotel made to look nice. Staff very average and breakfast was like a travel lodge free for all. It's ok if your on a budget but don't expect 4 star quality. The spa was way too busy also, there are clearly no limits on numbers through the door. Shame as the grounds are superb.

The staff are helpful and the package treatment was good but the decor is getting a little tired. The resteurant staff couldnt have been more helpful with my special diet, they catered for me brilliantly, but they hadn't been made aware. I had phoned in advance to advise, which I was instructed to do whilst booking, I fealt this was a waste of time.

Build up - booked on line, then called the spa to book treatments, anyway all the good ones were gone, but the lady sorted out a massage and a facial, i said can i call my wife and confirm, i had to call back by 7pm as they didn't have much left - anyway called at 6pm, waited 25 mins no answer, called back another 25 mins no answer- anyway called in the morning and complained spoke to the manger, she said sorry but they were busy, i did say i was busy too no discount etc- explained you need to set expectations.. Venue, food, treatments could not complain, very nice.. Welcome staff average- Restaurant staff FANTASTIC! shame the customer experience for me was poor before i even walked through the door.

Very disappointing!!!

Very disappointing!!!
Very busy on arrival and receptionist was not very friendly.
Changing rooms and spa (pool area) - standard. My location gym has better facilities. The jets in the chairs didn t work, one of the spa rooms was out of service half the time. It was so busy there was no beds to lay down or put your robes on.
Food was AMAZING!!! Restaurant was the highlight of our stay (steak was beautiful)
Rooms, clean and comfortable with lovely views.
Biggest disappointment was the treatments! I had a Swedish massage that might as well have been a tickle. I asked for it to be firm, it was far from I it. My husband had a leg and foot massage booked, again this was falsely advertised. He had 20 mins of someone rubbing half his leg with a towel then rubbing cream in (NO Massage)

Lovely place to stay, staff all excellent especially Josh who works in the bar. My wife had a hypo due to diabetes type 1 and he was quick to come to my aid to help. He gave her a choc bar and coke to get her blood sugar levels up.
Thanks again Josh. Only downside is no fried eggs at breakfast.

I booked this a few weeks ago as an anniversary getaway. I was told over the phone that they were unable to confirm times over the phone and they couldn t email the schedule either due to covid because the timings could change. I waited on the day of the arrival to see the schedule they mixed up our timings in terms of treatment time and food reservation time. I then spoke to the spa receptionist Angie who had spoken to us and sorted our schedule. However she either misunderstood what we said or made a mistake because the next day when I woke up to get a massage my partner was called but I was still waiting for 20 mins until I went to the reception area to find out that my massage was later during the day. I was really disappointed because we originally booked together for 10am and kept the slot 2.45pm if they were any cancellations she totally had ruined my mood because when I went to them for our bookings at 10am they didn t even confirm that mine was later. However, they did get the spa reception supervisor who then dealt with my issue but she was more concerned with me covering my mouth than dealing with my problem she could see the frustration in my face and how unhappy I was but instead she find things to come at me. We then went for lunch at 12pm as we were super hungry I let the restaurant know to tell them we could be slightly late for manicure. He then came back to say they were able to change my partners timings but I would have to go to the main reception and sort mine out. I just found that completely rude as they already knew I was unhappy with the service. The spa reception supervisor then came over with a moody face to my table to say it s been changed and that my lunch was at 2.15pm not 12pm as if it was compulsory to follow the timetable and point this out. Anyway we had the treatments which was great the staff were lovely and Victoria had dealt with my issue well she gave me lunch as complimentary as she knew I was not happy. I wouldn t come back here again as the spa receptionist Angie and Supervisor ruined my whole weekend which I was sooo excited for.

This is not my first time at this hotel/spa and I always enjoy my stay there. Unlike other hotel/spa that I have visited, this one is the most quiet and relaxing spa. Only reason for 4 stars is the hotel and spa prices which are a bit too high and that you really need to book in advance to have a treatment done. Other than that I highly recommend this place and will be returning again and hopefully with better price deals in place!

Great Night! We booked using a virgin experience voucher, which gave us access to several facilities, as well as a nights stay and breakfast. The facilities available included steam rooms and pools, all of which we enjoyed using. We had dinner in the restaurant and it was both delicious and reasonably priced, however drink prices were an utter joke. Breakfast was great, a decent selection. Everywhere was clean and tidy and staff were friendly.

Spa hotel surrounded by greenery. We arrived on a morning visit to accompany one of our children to work at the facility.
The environment is nice, semi modern with large and well-kept outdoor spaces where it is possible, for those who stay, to move around in a bathrobe and enjoy the tranquility offered by nature.

Poor communication with guests, Requested latest ...

Poor communication with guests, Requested latest massage time, and was told 6.15pm, as My friend and i were unable to get to lifehouse spa any earlier than 4pm, I never got my email confirmation until i telephoned on the day of arrival. i telephoned Lifehouse and was put on hold for over half an hour then when i got through i was told an email would be sent but no email was sent. I telephone Lifehouse on the day just before leaving my house and they said it can take 24 hours for emails to arrive!! Then the gentleman on the phone told me that my massage was at 4pm! so missed 4pm massage as booked! I had no way of knowing, no provisional times were sent to me, I was stressed when i got to the lifehouse spa with my friend and then they told me it was our meal that was at 6.15pm!! They changed our dinner time to 9.30pm, I was up all night as that time was far too late to eat, i had bad indigestion. They need to email clients with provisional bookings so that clients know when to arrive and what time to expect their treatments. Poor communication. We know treatments are subject to change but send email confirmation with 'PROVISIONAL' bookings to give clients some idea when to arrive. Its common cutesy and provides good customer relations.

I was really looking forward to an overnight stay ...

I was really looking forward to an overnight stay at the Lifehouse Spa for my boyfriend's 30th. We have a one year old and barely get any time to ourselves to relax. I was also looking forward to a decent night of sleep.
I purchased the couple's package which seemed like a really good deal which included the hotel room, dinner, breakfast, a couple's Swedish massage, access to the spa facilities and gym. The spa was busy but still enjoyable with a range of facilities including a salt inhalation room, sauna and steam room as well as scented showers. The food was brilliant and the waiting staff were attentive despite how busy it was at times. The hotel room was quite frankly a let down. I paid for a garden room, but decided to get an upgrade as it meant we could check in earlier and thought it would mean we should get a comfortable night's sleep. So I paid the extra charge for the signature room. When we walked in though it was largely underwhelming. To be honest it did not seem "signature" at all. OK the room was larger and there was a a coffee machine that looked ridiculously complicated to use. That night I had probably the worst night sleep I have had in a while. The room was so stuffy despite a fan being on and the huge French doors being open. Also the mattress was close to rock hard and I woke up at half 4 with the worst neck pain and so much stiffness. The pillow was full of lumps and the other one was flat as a pancake. I found it difficult to get back to sleep. And even when I did find a decent pillow it didn't make that much difference.
Luckily we had our couple's massage that morning. I ate breakfast barely able to move my neck. I told the hotel reception that morning and told them that I had moved the pillow onto the sofa in the hope they would throw it away as it was pretty useless. I asked for painkillers. The only ones they had were anadin (for sale in the machine in the toilet) and I really needed ibuprofen. They did apologise somewhat.
I hoped that my neck would feel better after our massage. Our massages were amazing and I felt like alot of my shoulder tension was eased. Unfortunately my neck was still a bit sore and stiff afterwards. I hit up the sauna and salt inhalation room to try and ease it as I was driving home later. When we were in the sauna, other people mentioned that they had experienced the same issues with their signature room.

After lunch we decided to check out. My neck stiffness hadn't eased anymore. When they handed me the bill, I said that I didn't want to pay for the upgrade as I felt that the bed was so uncomfortable. I had to speak to a customer service manager. She seemed reluctant and not particularly sympathetic. She implied that I should have come down from my room at half 4 in the morning so that they could give me a new pillow. I explained that after 5/6 hours of sleeping with a hard mattress and lumpy pillow it wouldn't have made my neck feel any better. Basically it seemed as if she didn't want to give me a refund.
Eventually she reluctantly authorised a refund when she pondered how maybe if she went to stay at a hotel she might like to sleep. Well yes especially if you have paid a decent amount of money. As she authorised it she said "just this once" to her colleague! And there was not a hint of humour either.
It has taken a couple of days and anti inflammatories for my neck to feel normal again. I felt shattered when I left Lifehouse not relaxed.
I would go back for a day or evening, but I don't think I would stay overnight.

Was really surprised how enjoyable Lifehouse was. Booked for two nights as the rates were very good. Rooms nice, clean and contemporary. Whole place had a lovely chilled out feel and the [people were very helpful - young staff. The food was great. Not cheap but then you begin to realise this is a classy place which at the moment is offering great rates. Spa treatments were excellent if a little pricey. But this was a special occassion and we pushed out the boat. Really memorable break

The Grounds are amazing if you like nature. The room was great (no hairdryer tho and they couldn't/wouldn't provide one). The spa facilities themselves were nice, and the massages we had were well done with good products. Don't eat there though, it's more like bad pub grub than nice hotel food. My wife's risotto was under done, and the Mac and cheese I ordered was made with spiral pasta (animals!) And was kinda just meh! Great location, good facilities, nice treatments just avoid the food and bring your own hair dryer ;) also cheap!

I have been going with my friends to Lifehouse Spa...

I have been going with my friends to Lifehouse Spa for many years. I always have had a good time. This time on the 22.10.19 we stayed overnight, and things didn't go very well from the beginning. It took a lot of effort to book the room, and treatment. I had to make 5 phone calls and after emailing, finally managed the booking.
The stay itself was spoilt by the overcrowding, it was the fullest I have ever seen it. It was not helped by the Sauna being shut, one day, as out of order, and the staff could not maintain the cleanliness and hygiene as usual due to overcrowding and clients being unsupervised.
The Restaurant was upto its usual high standard of quality and choice, I wonder if they have different management?

I like the garden and the facilities, the salted steam room is amazing.
However, the facilities is not so much different compared with other 5 stars hotels while the price during holiday is very expensive. Furthermore, the massage is horrible. I have been to many massage before it is the worst one. I have indicated that I would like 'medium strength' but massager is like 'touching' me... cannot tell any skillset for the massagers.

Spent a lovely SPA day at the Lifehouse - the food in the restaurant was of a high standard
the reception staff were polite and informative.
Our treatments which were included in our package were relaxing and therapists were lovely. Overall we throughly enjoyed our time but there were definitely a few areas which could been improved on such as the steam room could do with some maintaince - broken mosaic tiles lying on the floor - missing ones on seating area.
I used a few of the public toilets and the floors could have done with a clean or sweep up.
Also the waiting areas outside the main spa and treatment rooms were cold. We heard a few people mention that they were cold walking around as were we.
The last thing was the bar staff - I stood waiting to order a drink and the girl behind the bar was busy doing something and didn t even acknowledge I was there for about 5 mins - another bar person came behind and also didn t ask if I wanted something - I then did my order and she said I ll bring your drinks over to too - she then moved on to serve a regular and forgot about us - I went and collected our own drinks from on top of the bar
Overall it was a great day but some areas just need some TLC

I ve been to many different spa s over the years and this is probably my favourite.
We went on a bank holiday weekend last time and it was a little too busy for our liking, but we still had a relaxing time.
In my opinion it s in need of a little TLC as it s starting to look tired!

Everything was great apart from the poor bar service. When you order then are told to take a table you don't expect them to keep serving customers at the bar to take drinks away. 15 mins and we had to ask where our order was to be told those waiting at the bar get served first.
