Lichfield Cathedral is a giant amongst all others around. It has served people and the Lord for over 1,300 years. It is a journey through history and it has been through fires, wars and rebuildings. The latest being a gothic masterpiece.

Impressive Gothic cathedral with three spires close to the city centre. Unlike some religious buildings this one has a happy, busy feel to it. Welcoming staff and free admission although a donation towards the maintenance costs would be welcome.

If anyone is interested in Church architecture or even just unusual old buildings then spent a little time in and around this beautiful cathederal and wonder at the incredible structures and stained glass windows if nothing else. I am in awe of the incredible skills of the artisans of the period when this building was contructed.

Beautiful architecture, dedicated to saint Chad. Medieval in construction however the cathedral was decimated during the English civil war due to its highly defensible location in the close. It's the only cathedral in England to have 3 remaining spires and can be seen from all over the city. Is well worth a visit and is a wonderful day out! Nearby is the pool which is overlooked by the cathedral and makes a great place for a picnic. Definitely worth a visit and full of history! There are a few pieces collected from the Staffordshire hoard on display which was an interesting surprise also.

Incredible as you walk around the exterior, the sculptures of the saints are multiple and incredibly impressive. Walking the vista is breathtaking. The carvings, the whole of the interior is such an awe inspiring dedication to their God. There are multiple chapels, and the access allowed is incredible as many places of worship significantly restrict the areas you can enjoy, Not here! Whilst we were there a choir was rehearsing and the acoustics were breathtaking. A must visit for anyone of any faith, or none, to truly enjoy an incredible historic and architectural achievement that we can all enjoy. I hope you are lucky enough to hear a choir even close to the harmonic beauty of the one we enjoyed (by chance). I am truly glad that we "dropped by when we were in the area".

So many different exhibitions on throughout the year and their artist in residence does an amazing job at providing so many different things. The light shows that they have are aware winning and rightly so, with the while outside and inside of the cathedral transformed. With so many cathedrals charging for entry these days, it's refreshing to know that there is no barrier of entry and only a donation is asked for i8
