I am just very unhappy with this school. I had my child in preschool and they did nothing to further his learning or growth to the point where I had to take him out. I am convinced that this school is only there to separate the rich from poor kids. I would ask him regularly did they go over your ABC s, work on numbers, or even on his penmanship. Constantly he would say no. I spent close to $10,000 a year for him not to mention driving 45 minutes back and forth and he learned ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!! I then brought him to an after school tutoring site, Kumon. After just three months he was reading full sentences and doing arithmetic and only cost $ 200 dollars a month. Don t spend your money at LCA, particularly since most of it will likely get allocated to the high school kids and not your elementary or middle school kids.

We enrolled our kids in preschool at Lexington Christian Academy and were so happy we couldn t imagine ever leaving. Despite our initial plans for them to attend public schools, after one year at LCA, we knew this is where we wanted them to graduate. For us, LCA goes way beyond providing a good education for our kids, it is helping instill a strong Christ-centered foundation in their lives. The love that surrounds my kids at LCA is evident at all levels. The teachers and staff get to know all of the students and go above and beyond to provide a happy and safe environment to learn. The greatest testament is probably that my kids love school and truly can t wait to go every morning!

UPDATE: I am changing my review due to recent changes that have happened at this school that caused me to to pull my son out. LCA is facing at least two pending lawsuits for wrongful termination of former high-level faculty, including a headmaster and a very beloved, long-term junior high principal. The current leadership at this school has shown that they are intolerant to differences in children, unless they come from affluent families.

LCA used to be one of the best schools in Kentucky, but recent changes in leadership have resulted in people who do not have the best interests of the children as their number one goal. Many of the people in leadership positions have become more concerned about running LCA as a business rather than as a school dedicated to providing an excellent, top-notch, Christ-centered education. There is PLENTY of discrimination happening and unless your family is rich, it doesn't seem to matter. Teachers are extremely underpaid and underappreciated, so they are having a difficult time recruiting new quality teachers who have Christ first in their hearts. One recent addition was a math teacher who retired after 30 years in the public school system. Sorry, but that's just rarely going to work out. She spent her time screaming at the children, insulting them, and bullying them in front of the other students. And even though her classroom was within earshot of the office, nothing was ever done to reign her in. They kept her until the end of the school year, even though she caused some children to be traumatized, then they just didn't renew her contract. Way to be proactive, LCA! If she isn't good enough for next year, she wasn't good enough for last year! I could give plenty of examples of how they treated my son last year, but I'll save that for my attorney. Another issue I've noticed recently is nepotism that goes all the way to the top. That's never a good thing.

If you're considering sending your child to LCA, here is my final take: They were GREAT in lower grades (preschool through 5th, maybe 6th). Starting in Junior High, it's like night and day. I wish I'd realized this before I allowed them to traumatize my son for 7 months. The staff and faculty at the Intermediate campus (housed at Immanuel Baptist Church on Tates Creek Road) is an absolutely wonderful group of people who will show your child love, compassion, and grace beyond measure. But I would suggest that you search for a new school starting in 6th or 7th grade. Their new 6th Grade Academy just opened in August 2018, so I don't have any experience with that area, except a few of the teachers were 6th grade teachers the year before when it was also housed at the Immanuel campus. Some were great, some not so much. I've been told by other parents that the Sixth Grade Academy did not live up to expectations or promises. It seems LCA is trying to keep up with the vision of public school STEM initiatives, rather than being ahead of the game. Again, that's due to poor leadership.

It was absolutely heartbreaking for our family to choose to leave LCA. But we felt like they had already left us. We couldn't sit around and do nothing while they failed our son miserably. I know with 100% certainty that had we been rich, we would've had a completely different experience in Junior High.

The one star I'm giving is for preschool thru 5th or 6th grade, not JH.

In the interest of full disclosure, the following is my original review:

I absolutely LOVE LCA. I would never even consider any other school for my son. The teachers and faculty are absolutely phenomenal! They're all so caring and loving. My son would be completely heartbroken if he ever had to change schools. As for tuition, I figure we can either pay for his education now, or pay for it later, and college tuition will be MUCH more expensive when he graduates from high school. (Most students have some form of scholarship when they graduate from LCA.) Everyone LCA is like family to us. Sending our son there is one of the best decisions we've ever made.

I am a former LCA student and attended the school for 4 1/2 years. My time at LCA was a living Hell. I experienced bullying from both students and teachers. LCA is a growth place for mental illness, but they don t offer any support to students other than to just pray about it. The academics aren t worth the distress they cause. I received a much better academic education and social environment at a different private school in Lexington. If I could rate LCA 0 stars I would.
