Terrible! I waited over 2 hours in the office. The office is very solemn. He was running in and out of the rooms. I attempted to ask a question, he refused to answer it. He was curt and rude and making me nervous during the exam. He didn't explain anything. I heard he was good once but not any longer. There were 20 people waiting for him when I left. I don't know if he knows what he's doing anymore

After I retired and no longer worked in the city, I had few reasons to continue to see doctors in Manhattan. I live in Brooklyn and public transit is not very convenient. I switched to medical professionals more local to me. But I won t stop making annual visits to Dr. Cohen. He and his staff provide the essence of top notch health care. I do sometimes have a long wait if he s busy but I get complete attention and through gentle care once I m in the exam room. Dr. Cohen knows my diabetes needs careful attention to my eyes and he gives me confidence that I am healthy. He sent me to a retina specialist when that became needed. I can recommend Dr. Cohen enthusiastically and I hope he stays in practice for a long time. He s my favorite doctor because he is so competent and because he s a mensch. Great staff. Easy to get an appointment. Takes many insurance types.
I have been seeing Dr Cohen since 1988, which may have been right around the time he opened his office on 5th Ave. I have always found him to be gentle, caring and having all the time for me that I have needed. Even when I hadn't seen him for years, when I saw him again he remembered me as a person and not just as a patient.
I live on W 225th St now but I will still make appointments to see Dr Cohen. I can't imagine seeing any other eye doctor for comprehensive care, so I hope Dr Cohen has many years of practice ahead of him.
I saw Dr. Cohen yesterday as an emergency. I was under the assumption that I had a retinal detachment. After a short wait, I was seen first by his nurses who conducted a detailed eye history as they ran some preliminary tests. In addition, some drops were placed in my eyes as I was instructed to wait in the waiting room to be seen by Dr. Cohen next. When I was examined by Dr. Cohen, he immediately put me at ease, reassuring me that there is always a solution. It turned out that I don t have retinal detachment despite the suggestive symptoms. He explained to me in details what to expect in my particular situation and he instructed me to reschedule an appointment in a month for follow up. I am so glad I saw Dr. Cohen and his attentive staff yesterday. A qualified and experienced doctor with advanced knowledge and skills is worth waiting for. Without any doubt, Dr. Cohen is worth every second of the waiting.
Hi, I have been going to Dr Leeber for years and I truly believe he is the best I referred him to my friends and family and no regrets. God bless you Doctor. Fina.
Dr. Cohen is thorough, clear, and very kind; he takes the time to explain exactly what's going on, without condescension. The waiting time is lengthy, but I figured out that it was due to the fact that he takes the time to take care of each patient, regardless of what is needed. Felt very confident I was in good hands.
Dr. Cohen saved my life. Simple as that. He is the single nicest, most competent and most compassionate doctor I have ever encountered. The staff is, without exception, professional, friendly, easy to work with, easy to communicate with, competent and I'm just realizing as I write this review that they are completely effective at making a typically anxiety producing experience one that is an absolute pleasure.
The short version of my story is that I was given a referral to Dr. Cohen and the general doctor making the referral didn't take my situation seriously. I was essentially blind in my left eye. When I got the referral info, I called his office and said "I think this maybe shouldn't wait." Dr. Cohen called me back, and agreed - mind you, he had never met me before. He saw me the next day, and the day after that I was in the hospital for treatment. Within 5 days, my vision was completely restored. He saw something very rare in my eye that would have killed me if it went untreated for much longer.
So, friends, I do not exaggerate one bit when I say that Dr. Cohen saved my life. If you need an eye doctor, he is a supremely qualified one. He accepts lots of insurance.
When you thank Dr. Cohen, he says, "My pleasure." I believe him, and it always makes my day when I hear him say it. He really is the best. And it's my pleasure to finally write something publicly about what he did for me after all these years because I really owe my life to him.
