We had the pleasure of dining at The Tasting Room on Saturday. What an amazing experience. The service, the food, the wine and the ambiance was absolutely fantastic. Every dish came as a surprise and we were just in awe of everything. Highly recommendable. Would love to go again.

Loved every moment of our stay there. Breakfast is included and they whipped up gluten free treats each day for my celiac wife. The real stars are the people. They are still ramping back up and trying to figure out Hoteling during the Covid era and everyone was amazing! Looking forward to our return!

Had lunch at the Garden Room. Cocktails were nice but not boozy. They advertise the menu as tapas style but portions are larger. Out of the 8 tapas we got, only 2 were outstanding, the rest were under-seasoned. Had high expectations for this place. Service was great though.

My wife and I dined at The Tasting Room, LQF in August of this year. Because we saw it as a special occasion and not something we would do often, we went for the 8 course tasting menu with wine pairings.

The food is superb and a real experience for food lovers. The service and wine pairings were also fantastic.

Used to be one of the best restaurants in the country, but recent experience suggests that the prices have sky-rocketed, teh porions have got smaller and the food is good but uninspired. You can do just as well a lot more cheaply elsehwere in teh town, notably at Bon Vivant and Petite Ferme

Went here for a spontaneous lunch with my parents one day. We loved the interior of the restaurant and the food and drinks tasted amazing and looked beautiful too. Definitely a rather special place. Vegetarian options available.

An African Inspired Surprise Tasting Menu

An African Inspired Surprise Tasting Menu

The wine tasting of Stellenbosch was complete. I was so impressed with Stephen Flesch and his company Gourmet Wine Tours of South Africa that I decided to ask him to join me for this dinner meal, which would be an eight course meal, surprise tasting menu of South African inspired cuisine, with a ladies touch. Steve and I started in the Lounge Bar, as I enjoyed a cocktail starter with Primitiv Cederberg, South African vodka, and then was called into the main dining room of The Tasting Room, by last name and business title, which I thought was a very nice touch. As you enter the dining room, dangling from the ceiling are hundreds of white globes, with a service station to the left, then the main dining room to the right and straight ahead. To the right were the windows and a door leading to the patio area. The ceiling was low, about nine feet high, and the tables were a light brown oak, a very modern look.

Quiet area. Nice service. 2 calls in the morning if you want to have breakfast or have any other wishes. Almost too much . Pool was not so clean and bathrooms a bit dated and loose faucet.

We came for a three night stay at the Quartier Francaise and enjoyed it thoroughly.
Room was great and newly refurbished, as was most of the hotel.

We had lunch in the garden at the Indian restaurant and dinner at the beer bar. Both were great. The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful as we were travelling with a toddler.

Parking was available and the gym is decent although not fully equipped.

To my dismay I posted a one star rating for the LeQuartier Restaurant and my review immediately disappeared. Why? Let s try again. I booked several days in advance from our hotel the Vineyard for reservations at the LeQuartier Francais Restaurant with the hotel s receptionist, Justin. Several years previously, we had enjoyed a delightful lunch there and we wanted to celebrate my Boxing Day birthday there. When we arrived from our long drive we were told by the restaurant Manager that our reservation was made with the Asian restaurant (where the hotel serves breakfast). The Asian restaurant was totally/completely empty. When we explained that we definitely made reservations with the LeQuartier restaurant; that it was my birthday; we have driven from Cape Town; and the mistake was with LeQuartier. The manager laughed when he heard our explanation, unprofessionally patted my husband on the back and arrogantly said there was no room. Too bad!!! In other words, they wanted to fill the empty Asian restaurant. The restaurant manager, was not only unaccommodating knowing that the fault was with LeQuartier. What was even more difficult , he was ungracious and glib about our situation! If I could I would give LeQuartier NO stars. We went to the nearby Reuben restaurant as most restaurants were closed for Boxing Day LeQuartier s offhanded and bad attitude don t waste your time to go there!

It's been a few years since I was last here, but the memory of the meal remains that is truly how good it is. Le Quartier Francais quite literally is my favourite restaurant on earth and I wish only to live closer. The food quality, service diligence, waiter knowledge and of wine and passion for the local produce really shone through for me. True fusion of foreign methods with local ingredients that has evolved quite naturally and beautifully over the years. Thank you Le Quartier Francais for a dining experience that has stayed with me for years.

We spent the evening dinning at La Petite Colombe.. it was one of the best gastronomical experiences. A highly recommended fine dinning experience. Chef John and Manager Morne run a fantastic establishment.

We were two times guest, as Margot Janse still the restaurant led. Her 11-speed surprise menu has always been a sensation! Unfortunately, you are currently taking a break! One of the best cooks in South Africa with awards!

I have been at the Asian place for lunch with my girlfriend! The food was just ok, we have been charged for an alcoholic cocktail (pina colada) when we actually ordered and got the non alcoholic version of the same drink, worth 1/2! Fine an error can happen, we just really disappoint about the totally non honest way the waitress replied when I reported it: the alcoholic version costs more than 90zar, not just 85! But in the bill it was clearly written "charge for alcoholic beverage 85zar".. We really felt cheated! Never again!

Very nice - stopped for a g and t and a snack. We sat outside on a lovely terrace. We had chicken sate and sesame seed prawns, both of which were delicious and inexpensive. One thing to note is the tonic water is twice the cost of gin! We would recommend and would go back.

With high expectations we have today visited the restaurant of which the chef is highly praised. A limited menu initially seemed to confirm our suspicion that an exceptional meal awaited us. Unfortunately, this was an absolute disappointment! To make matters worse, we sat next to a noisy group of eight partying people. At our request and following the example of another couple, we moved to the garden. We then worked my husband's tiny stew and my tasteless mussels in between the masses of flies. A pitiful experience, not worth repeating!

The food was magnificently prepared. The wine pairing was definitely well thought through. The food.... as good as it was I must say I have had better but is a very deserving 4 stars as the experience was pleasant the service had heart and the waitress Charlynne was a gem and made the whole experience a fantastic one.

Great hotel but staff's service was a bit inconsistent. The Conceirge was not helpful following up to our stay for dining recommendations. Our agent did all the hard work for them. The place itself is situated in a convenient and walkable destination in Franschhoek.

Touted as one of the top restaurants in ZA, I actually had better, but I will still give it 4 stars for being the "experience" it was. Multiple courses with wine pairings all very good, some fantastic. The decor was modern but a tad cold for my liking even if pretty overall. The staff was efficient but snobby. Also I tried for months to get a reservation to no avail, but my guest house "mom" got one for us it a couple of hours! I think it's running off previous reputation that is waning, the locals even know it

Stayed here with family a couple of years ago. This place is incredible, rooms are great, service and food fantastic. We have done a lot of world travel and always compare hotel breakfasts to LQF, we haven't found one that comes close. Looking forward to staying again next time we are in the Cape.
