Favorite brunch in Richmond. The fried chicken platter with a side of sausage gravy can't be beat!
Eclectic American menu. Good food. Really nice vibe. Not inexpensive but worth it.
Good but pricey
And the waitress didn't listen to my friends food allergy to nuts and served an appetizer with NUTS
First off, this is a beautiful restaurant. A+ for the decor and the warm atmosphere! They were also very understanding when the other people in my party, who were coming from out of town, were late for our brunch reservation. However, we were underwhelmed by the food and service. Two of us got the steak and eggs and immediately disliked the house steak sauce. Very sweet and sticky. Unfortunately, the steaks seemed to be marinated in it, and they were not very warm. My friend s pancakes were decent, and the fries were amazing and kind of saved the day. The service was very slow and not super attentive, even though it was not crowded at all. Coffee refills went mostly overlooked and I never received a condiment I asked for. Overall, this was an okay experience but it didn t quite live up to the rave reviews!
Really cute modern vibe with an amazing brunch menu! Staff was extremely friendly and the food was delightful.
Top notch food, service and atmosphere. Can't wait to go there again!
The food is some of the best in town all made ih house. The service is outstanding.
The menu is small as they put a lot of love into their homemade dishes.
Great variety of food and drink, friendly and knowledgeable staff.
One of Richmond's best restaurants. The decor is beautiful, friendly and has tons of style. The bar is quite big and the bartenders are great. Great cocktails and probably the best wine selections you'll find in town. We moved from San Francisco and were blown away with the wines here. And we can't for get the food! So delish. It's elevated hipster local. Definitely go and enjoy! Pro Tip: the combo charcuterie and cheese board is huge and well-priced. We often go get wine and share this with maybe another appetizer and it's a steal of a night out for two.
Very nice place. Have been a couple times over the years and the quality of the food has remained high. I was most recently impressed by the sunchoke appetizer and the crab cakes.
Tasty, cute, good service. Great frozen sauvignon blanc, with elderberry and grapefruit.
Generally an insanely good restaurant but Thursday of restaurant week was seriously lacking quality control. Our meals came with a fried egg that was about half raw with running clear egg whites all over our food, and scallops were rubbery and very overcooked. Overall the quality was much lower than normal, with an overeliance on meat instead of the perfect spicing and usual quality of the food here.
Everything, crab cake, poached eggs, avocado toast, and fruit was all top notch.
Excellent fried oysters! Staff was very attentive. Will definitely go back!
Great food. Parking is a little challenging. But over all nice place to dine.
Great cocktails and the food was excellent. Laura Lee's just became may favorite restaurant in Richmond, and that is saying a lot!
Of you have not been, go.....tonight. Fantastic appitizers - try the scallop, delicious entrees and THE best staff in Richmond. The beer list is a little weak, but they do serve Hamms. The patio is quiet and comfortable. Easily the best restaurant in South Richmond, maybe the best in town.
Cute place with a fun, daring menu. Service can get slowed down a bit during busy times, but what restaurant doesn't? :) Great place for a gathering of friends.
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. My partner and I were looking for a brunch in Richmond that went into the afternoon. Laura Lee's popped up after searching forever. We were attracted to the place because they had crafted cocktails at affordable prices. LET ME TELL YOU they were everything and MORE. But that's just the drinks. The food was A1! I got the chicken and she got the the crabcake... Everything was perfectly put together! I highly recommend! We might just come back tomorrow to try more drinks and food too. It's that good.
One of my favorite places in RVA with very interesting signature drinks and delicious food. Comfortable and friendly atmosphere. We personally LOVED the cool ranch wings. In fact, the only reason we rarely go anymore is because they removed those great wings from the menu........
Great burgers, good drinks, yes adult drinks. Fries were really good and the staff was very polite and on point.
Milk bread was wonderful and the crab cakes were absolutely splendid. Would eat over and over again
I really wanted to like this place, but after several visits I just can't. Food is not that interesting. Meat, salt, and hot spices seem to prevail. The decor is lovely, but our waiter during the last visit bumbled around, was not familiar with the menu, and spilled a drink. Oh my.
We went for restaurant week. Our server was great! Food portions were small.
Our server was wonderful, but my meal was so-so (omelet). All of my companions loved their meals, though, so I think I just got unlucky. Will definitely give them another try.
We came here for brunch on Sunday. We didn t expect it to be so popular or full, but it was. At first we were told the wait would be around 30-40 minutes, but somehow they found a tiny table for us almost right away.
We ordered steak and eggs, burger and pancakes with sides of sausage gravy and cheese grits. They later moved us to a bigger table after we got our drinks which I m glad they did because we got a lot of food and it wouldn t have fit on the other table.
The pancake were huge! They came with syrup and whipped honey butter. The burger didn t look like it did in their photo, but it was tasty. The fries were pretty decent. I really enjoyed the sausage gray and grits. It s a good brunch place overall.
Honestly not super impressed. Given the really high ratings I was expecting a fantastic experience. Maybe it was an off night or something. The service was very good, my water was never empty. I enjoyed the atmosphere of the restaurant. The kitchen seemed quite slow on a night that wasn't all that busy, it took ages for our appetizer to come out. Then when our meal was ready mine came out several minutes before my wife's so it was nearly cold by the time we could actually start eating. The crab cakes were quite dry with no butter sauce or anything to help with that. The trout was ok, nothing really special though and was lacking in flavor. In general plates are on the smaller side, which I don't mind, but if you are going to serve small portions for 25+ bucks I expect them to taste great not just be ok. Not a terrible restaurant, worth trying the place, but we probably won't be back with so many other restaurants to try.
Fresh ingredients well prepared and seasoned. Our meals were great and service was great. Crabcakes were excellent!
We only did brunch but what there was was extremely good it was the Father's Day and the place was busy busy busy, I highly recommend this place if you want to say side I did Sims Avenue in Forest Hill Avenue
Absolutely delicious food and great service. Allison was delightful and the ambience warm and inviting. I will definitely be back.
This restaurant has some of the best food in town. Wine list is very good as well with great selections. We eat here frequently and on our most recent experience had a wonderful server. really made our evening special. Atmosphere is good and the pricing is not outrageous for what you are getting. We could not recommend Laura Lee's more highly.
Good food, nice atmosphere. A bit noisy on a Friday night.
Loved this place! Great atmosphere, friendly staff and good food! Couldn't ask for anything more. The cocktail I got for brunch was delicious and so was my vegan dish. I would definitely go back
My absolute favorite restaurant in all of Richmond! The food is mind-blowingly good! They can take something so simple and elevate it. The cocktails are unique and refreshing (the Tiger's Eye is the best!). And the staff treats you like family. Beautiful space and a lovely patio. I'd give it 10 stars if I could!
Laura Lee's is a bright spot on the way to the south side. A cute and busy restaurant with reasonable service and an atmosphere fit for a family or brunch date. The food is good and so are the drinks. Healthy portions leave you satiated and the menu has enough options even I, a picky eater with a few food allergies, had some choices.
Been there first time for a restaurant week. Food was very good. But we set outside, and tables there way too small, good for a cup of coffee but not for a dinner.
Came back last night. And I have to say that it is the same problem to eat inside: tables for two people are too small and too close to each other. No privacy at all. Food is very good. I love their desserts (and l'm not a big dessert eater). Walnut winter fruit crumble pie was excellent. As strawberry rhubarb pie they serve in spring.
A Richmond gem. Excellent food, service, drinks. Addictive biscuits.
Laura Lee's has fantastic food including vegetarian and gluten free. The kitchen knows how to avoid gluten contamination for people with Celiac. They have a really good cocktail program and even have similarly creative and enjoyable mocktails if you cannot (or don't want to) drink alcohol. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable if you have any questions.
Great food, fantastic service, and cozy atmosphere. Perfect place to celebrate our anniversary!
The stout cake is incredible
Excellent duck confit, and the roasted vegetables melt in your mouth. The desserts are made on site. The table shared slices of the strawberry rubarb and chess pies and they were delicious! Trendy decor, plenty of natural light too.
My wife and I just moved here from NOVA and discovered this gem 5 minutes away from our house. The atmosphere of this place is awesome. We had some cocktails, fried oysters, and a charcuterie tray for appetizers. Everything was amazing, and the portions were better than I was expecting for the price. I had seared scallops for my main course. They were cooked perfectly and were huge, quality scallops. I can tell the owner, chef, and staff love what they do. The food and experience couldn t have been better.
Lovely service. Southern influence nice-casual dining. No deals on beer/wine/cocktails, but good choices.
This is the perfect place for a nice date night or family dinner. The atmosphere is relaxing and the food and cocktails are always great. I've never been disappointed with anything I've ordered in the dozen or so times I've been. This is my favorite date night place south of the James.
The place has a good atmosphere. Feeling here is similar to a cafe in San Jose I liked.
A great neighborhood restaurant. Warm and friendly staff. The chicken sandwich is a go to selection when you want something to eat but just can't decide. It taste great and always brings a smile to me. I've never had a meal at Laura Lee's that I wouldn't recommend to another. Plainly said, the food is always good.
Great drinks, great food, and great service. Will definitely go back.
This place is amazing. Nice decor. Staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. And they serve some of the most scrumptious food I've ever had.
Interesting menu. Went with two others and all of us had different food allergy issues but we managed to all get different meals and share with each other. All appetizers were small portions but each was just perfection and just large enough for each of us to have a nice bite. Atmosphere and service was great.
This place is next level.
1. Food is great and creative
2. Cocktails are made correctly and are very good.
3. Desserts is so amazing and has out of the box mind set.
I give it 10 out of 10 beers
Love the food, atmosphere and staff here!! Laura Lees is a regular favorite of mine. You will not be disappointed!
Dined at Laura Lee's last night for restaurant week. Service was phenomenal on an evening where every table was full. In addition to the food being great! Last night easily landed in the top 5 best dining experiences I've had in my 3 years living here. I can't wait to come back for your normal menu and brunch!
my favorite spot in south side. great craft cocktails, friendly service and owner, i just NEED them to get their cool ranch wings back asap !!!
The best brunch ever, but it s so noisy and hard to have a conversation.
Great atmosphere, service was good and food is awesome. We had the scallops, pork cheek and burger, all were well prepared and flavorful. Interesting wine list too, not a lot of run of the mill bottles and reasonably priced too
Great food and cocktails with friendly staff. Might have had my favourite fried chicken sandwich last time we dined at the bar.
Well what can I say. Last restaurant to eat at for the end Year and it was a hit. We loved the food drinks and service. I will and already let people know this the place to visit.
We always enjoy our meal here, the staff are also great.
Wonderful different salad, delicious soup and bread homemade!
Great tasting food and cocktails. The wait was pretty descent so make a reservation.
It was hard to choose what brunch special I was going to have. They all sounded so good but I settled on the fried oysters and poached eggs. Delicious
Great seafood. The fried oysters are the best . Crab cakes were terrific.
Really good I thought. I would recommend it. The service was really a good. They also have outside seating and the garage door they can open when it's nice out.
Love the place, food, drinks and coffe are just perfect!
This restaurant is just up the street from me and we would often walk there for a relaxed dinner. In this new era I have been very pleased with their takeout offerings as well, which are always fresh and delicious!
Great attentive service, specialty drinks and food were amazing. Quiet place with great ambiance.
The food was delicious and the dessert cocktail was great. The other cocktails could be a little more interesting. Will definitely return
My first visit was for the drag brunch fundraiser and it was awesome. The decor is reminiscent of 50s style dining, the food is elevated and worth the money and they have interesting cocktails. Highly recommend.
Great food, portions, atmosphere, and prices aren't too bad either. Parking in the area is a little tight but overall a great experience. Would recommend
I have been to this restaurant three times during 2017-2018. Really love the appetizers, especially the ample portion of tasty fried oysters, and the flavorful mussels. Favorite entrees have been the duck and the trout. Interesting cocktails. The maitre'd (owner?), a man with a beard, always seems irritated by something but the waiters and waitresses are pleasant. This hotel is south of the river in a region that is just starting to become more upscale so it's like a fun adventure to explore a new area of the city for me.
Fantastic service, and excellent food. Make sure to ask about that days frozen cocktails, and if lump crab cakes are on the menu... just do it, you won't be disappointed!!
We had a wonderful dinner at this smallish neighborhood joint. Tegan was a great server, she suggested a red that was tasty and went well with our rockfish and crab cakes. We had milk bread, which was amazingly fluffy and we almost gorged ourselves on that. The fried oysters were perfectly cooked, and the breading was crispy. We were too stuffed for dessert and went to sleep as soon as we got home.
Eggs Benedict was great, and their mixed drink special was great for brunch.
The interior decoration was quite bliss, the craft cocktails are beautifully made and are delicious, and the food you need to try for yourself everything was delicious during restaurant week.
Food was very good. Crabcakes best I've had. Atmosphere was nice. I wish the seating would have been a little more comfortable. Close seating we ended up so close to the other customers we could hear each others conversation. We ended up with good conversation between us. Overall nice evening out.
Laura Lee's is gradually becoming my favorite Richmond restaurant. Great art and indoor garden, low key atmosphere (I've never made a reservation or waited more than 10 minutes to be seated) and consistently great food here in Southside.
Absolutely wonderful food, a great atmosphere and cordial staff! You cannot go wrong eating here!!
