My Dad passed Away March 18th 2020 due to complications with His 2nd bout of cancer. I Was an Emotional Wreck when reaching out to them and asking if they were a "NO KILL" Animal Rescue Shelter, as I Was Trying to make Arrangements for Whiskers who was 12 in March, 13 Now . I relayed My Concerns for her as we just lost foxy girl our Pomeranian in July. Whiskers cried for 3 day's as Foxy was her best friend. 7 Months after? Daddy passed away
And Whiskers was having a hard time with losing both daddy and foxy girl. I wanted so very much to keep her but cannot have animals where I am living.

They reassured Me that Whiskers Would Not be put down at All and could stay with the shelter forever if Necessary, which caused me tears of joy to know she wouldn't suffer over losing both her greatest companions by her life being cut short as well.

**I called in to check and see how she had adjusted to the shelter and of she was doing okay. After a Brief Hold, the woman came back on the line and said that Whiskers was Adopted within a Month!!! I Cried My eye's out with tears of joy to know that she wasn't alone very long at All and was Adopted the same Month I took her in at the beginning of April. I Thanked them many times over and asked if they might reach out to whomever Adopted her to Tell them Thank You from the Bottom of My Heart for falling in love with her and taking her to what I hear, will be her FOREVER HOME!

All the Staff I talked with and had also worked with me when relinquishing Whiskers to Larimer Humane Society were All So Very Kind. The Compassion and Empathy they had for such an unfortunate situation that was out of anyone's control was Absolutely Amazing with their kind word's as well as the time they allowed me to say my goodbyes and apologies to Whiskers for having No Choice but to take her there. Thank You for the Wonderful work your staff does and for their complete attention when explaining Everything about Whiskers eating habits and what kind of environment that was All she'd known since we got her when she was 5 weeks old etc. AND A VERY BIG THANK YOU TO WHISKERS' NEW FAMILY. I HOPE HER NEW FAMILY ENJOYS HER COMPANY AND COMPANIONSHIP AS MUCH AS WE DID FOR 12 YEARS OF HER LIFE!

Refused to go rescue a stray dog after hours. Says they can't do anything about the animal until the animal has been caught. Still refused after multiple calls about the dog. What's the point of an emergency line for pet protection if you are not going to go get the animal and try and save its life. Which is now dead. Worthless people.

I have not had an experience with the Humane Society itself, but the Dog Park located there is fantastic. Plenty of room to run, and a few fun obstacles that any dog can enjoy. Every dog, and person, we have met there is super friendly and our dog loves spending time at this park.

Update: If I could rate them a negative I would. Once again the dog was taken from our yard, my wife called these charlatans and reported her missing. They called us back two hours later saying they had her and it would be $60 because they were nice enough to waive the boarding fee (that was sarcasm FYI). I told them no, they droped the price to $40 for having her for 30 minutes. Filed a report with the sheriff's department, who called this money racket and some how Larimer Humane lost the paperwork regarding our first visit there, so now I have to deal with their sloppy record keeping to get the situation fixed.

Charged me $75 to get my dog back, after it was taken from my property and dropped off by the 'good citizen'. The dog is 15 years old and weighs 13 pounds. They didn't have to do a thing with the dog except feed it. On top of
that they are only open for bank hours so even though I knew where it was last night, I couldn't get it until the morning so it cost me an extra $15.

This place.sucks, the cats cant even play, or go to the bathroom in there tiny little cage:-( The actove dogs.don't even get to play, they do not walk them enough, and when they do it is only for 5 mins. It is extremely trashy, the employess are rude, to people and animals. They push them around and are violent. The dogs food dishes are almost always emty, some cats have all the toys and some have none. Although I do recomend adopting the animals so they have a loving home.

Beautiful, clean, well-organized facility with an even more amazing staff! Recently adopted a senior dog who was in foster care through them and everyone was absolutely wonderful to work with. I can't recommend the Larimer Humane Society high enough for anyone looking to adopt a new pet/family member! Rescues are the best way to go and the little guy we adopted is an absolute delight :)

I m from Fort Collins but I haven t been to this shelter since 2007, when I was a volunteer at their old location. I am impressed not only by the friendliness of the staff and health of the animals, but also the new building!

It came time for me to adopt a new dog, and I saw one on their website who looked perfect. I drove up from Greeley and gave them a call on the way. The lady on the phone was informed and friendly as could be. When I arrived, they were prompt and courteous, as well as straightforward about any issues the dog I was visiting might have. They allowed me to have a thorough visit, and then helped me introduce my other dog to him.

It ended up being a great match and I went home with my new fur baby! I worked with several staff members, and all of them seemed like they really wanted to be there and help. I don t know where they re finding these employees at, but kudos to them. I 100% recommend!!

I work as a volunteer here, and they are very kind people. They spay/neuter all animals, give you a dog of food, and a color and leash for all adopted dogs (for free!) They also are relativley cheap to adopt compared to breeders. They take very well care of their animals. Overall GREAT place!

I think their hearts are usually in the right place but their small animal Care is seriously lacking. The rats I got had lice and one has a severe uri both of which went completely unnoticed at the shelter.

For as much money was spent on this place, and as big as it is, I'll never understand why you have to stand in an asle to the side of a little cubicle on the second floor to pay your pet's license.

Glad lots of volunteers can take care of and entertain the animals. Loved my sweet little girl dog I got from here she is perfect. I do have to say, the staff is very incompetent. I've visited multiple times and it takes hours to visit with a dog or cat. The staff doesn't follow up with you when you check in and that is just really irritating to wait for a while and not be followed up with. Everyone just assumes there that you are taken care of. There were two clean visiting rooms and we waited an hour because no one know what was going on....

Such a large facility for so few staff members and so few animals. I suppose these days there are so many privately owned shelters and foster networks.
I mean I walked in there and no one greets you or offers to help you. Not very hospitable if your goal is to get animals adopted. They also do not write any kind of description on their website for each animal, except for it's age and sex.

Very helpful. Very compassionate. Beautiful facility. I asked how long. Would they keep an animal before they had to put them to sleep because they hadn't been adopted out yet? They told me that they had enough room now with the new facility that they would not have to do that anymore. I LOVE that!! Also they have these cool rooms that you can actually spend time with the pet you are thinking about adopting. So you can learn the temperament of the animal. Ser if you are going to g at along with each other. See if if he pet likes you or not!! That's a great idea.

We went to visit dogs and give them love. We ended up meeting a 13 year old dog that we fell in love with. They had good history and even a name and number to his vet. They made sure that we knew our new friend would not be around for long. We didn't care, we loved him. They have checked on us and him many times and even posted a picture of us. They were wonderful.

I've had no experience dealing with LHS, and chances are I never will. Not only have I heard about a dog that got euthanized even though she was reportedly very well behaved and had no history of violence or agression, I also heard from a friend that these people euthanized her cat that she had to surrender because she was homeless. What next, LHS? I have a cat, very skittish and likes to use the whole house as her litter box, but she's incredibly sweet once she gets to know someone. If I surrendered her because I couldn't take care of her, would you euthanize her too? I'm willing to bet you would. Don't do business with these people. Surrendering your beloved animals in hopes of them finding better homes isn't worth the high chance of them being put down just for the hell of it

Linda had a place to go, where she would have been loved, but instead they euthanize her...Just awful...Larimer Humane Society should be shut down, or at the very least, get new staff, especially a new Jenn Barg...What are you hiding Jenn? This place disgusts me...

Great staff. Working hard to help many people, and their pets, during the wildfires. Shelter was understaffed, and over-crowded, but these humble heroes worked tirelessly to provide for the displaced citizens of Larimer County.

This place is the worst. If you ever find a stray ...

This place is the worst. If you ever find a stray animal take it to a rescue or a non kill shelter out of town. We recently found a german shepard. The humane society would come out and look and then leave just saying "we have a more important call" or "we don't have enough people" or we'll never catch it".

After three days the neighborhood caught the dog with bloody paws, hair falling out, starving, thirsty - we could not wait for LHS anymore. It was scared but once on leash was so gentle. Jumped right into car, ate hanburgers out of our hand so gently, walked on leash fine. Great dog!!!!

We turned the dog over to them. Sadly after a week they have decided the dog is not adoptable and are putting her down unless a rescue will take her. We found two rescues that said they are happy to rehabilitate her and specialize in german shepards but for some reason they still seem to think putting the dog down is best. Probably just easier on them (don't have to pay to transport, try to get dog out of kennel, etc).

Very sad that this dog that could have had a wonderful life didn't even get the chance to be rehabilitated by both rescues that wanted to help. Sad day!!!

I am livid. I found a dog in bad condition off mulberry. A woman who worked at store more off mulberry and lived on site said he had been abandoned out of a van the night before. He was covered in little soars, mud, dried blood and bug bites. I took many photos and showed this shelter. I found him at 6:30 am and the humane society wasn't open until 8. So I took this 7 month old puppy home and fed him. Gave him water and a much needed bath. I washed the mud, blood and feces off of him and then brought him here. I was assured that they would find him a safe home and instead they gave him to the owner 4 days later. Appalling. I'm never bringing a stray here.they don't care if it was dumped, abused. Never again. Shame on you. This dog deserved better and very likely because of you he won't live a long happy life. Absolute shame on you.

RIP Linda, I hope that the people are involved are given the recourse necessary. A life was lost due to neglect of owner contract and also, with the negligent promisesof the humane society notably this has happened on more than one occasion. I highly doubt any of the people who donate would be half as willing if they knew what occurs. I hope this makes any viewers strongly considering supporting another rescue/humane society.
