The Lakeview United Methodist Retreat Center was all you could hope for in a relaxing place to get away. Our church group met there for a weekend. We enjoyed boating, nature walks and a wonderful time of fellowship with one another. We stayed in cabins that each had a kitchen, living room and separate bedrooms. Everything was clean and neat. The scenery here is magnificent. So nice to get away from town and enjoy the peace and quiet.
Beautiful camp! Large cafeteria with much better food than I remember at church camp. The camp has several lakes, a challenge course, an inflatable jump pit, a covered gym, an amphitheater, swimming pool, and more! The cabins we stayed in were nice, temperature controlled and modern. They also had a large modern meeting area. The only improvement that I could suggest would be a better separation of the sink area from the sleeping area. It needs a wall with a door--not the open area that currently exists. It was hard to sleep when others came into the cabin later and needed to use that area. Thanks for your hospitality Lakeview! A B.O.W. participant.
It has beautiful scenery and is great for getting away from your everyday responsibilities. I love coming here. It is also a wonderful place to work.
Loved the camp I went to because of the people not the camp itself. The food here caused me bowel problems for at least a week later leaving.
Stayed in one of the oldest dorms and had a very subpar experience. The showers in particular were disgusting, and there is no good place to hang anything (clothes, towels) that need to stay dry because the shower fires almost horizontally into the showering room. Beds are extremely squeaky and there is not even enough head room to sit up on the bottom bunks. There are not enough wall outlets for every inhabitant to have even one so a battery bank is very necessary, not that phone use is facilitated because cell service is virtually nonexistent and any wireless is slow if not entirely unresponsive. Despite it being on a lake you are not allowed to get in it and frankly even if you were I would discourage it. The best way I can describe the food is "mostly edible". Things like the mashed potatoes and eggs are not but you'd be hard-pressed to mess up canned green beans and corn. If you do not eat meat, gluten free, or in general have any dietary restriction whatsoever then hopefully you love salad because that is all they offer. In general you will need to smother everything with salt and pepper to be able to taste it. Overall, would not be willing to stay again for any reason.
Beautiful, beautiful well kept grounds. Great for My friends and I stayed in one of the motel rooms. It was very clean and the beds were comfortable. Nice furnishings. Some of the rooms face the lake. The cafeteria is clean, food is plentiful and delicious. Our group plans to return!
Great place for a conference. On premises lodging and cafeteria are really convenient.
Such a great venue for camps and other church events. My church hosts an annual 'Family Camp' here at Lakeview and we always enjoy it. Swimming, Volleyball, Lake, Paddle Boats, Canoes, Jump Pillow thingy, well-kept architecture, it has it all.
