Good sandwiches, nice atmosphere, and friendly people
Friendly people, great food, nice beer and wine selection.
Great atmosphere, good food and service. Highly recommend
The fact is, I'm shocked this is the first rating. Great food, excellent service, and darn good beverages all with a bike shop.
I walked in, ordered a Turkey Sandwich. I paid and walked around...15 minutes later I asked "is someone making my sandwich?" because by then two other customers were waited on and served; they paid and left. They literally forgot about me but I was standing right in front of them. It's super small. But that would have been okay IF it was a fabulous sandwich, as they advertise outside. It was Terrible, $7.95. I'm handed a sandwich cut in half in a plastic baqgie no pickle, no chips. Tiny in size. The bread was so stale it literally crumbled off the sandwich when I removed it from the baggie and I'm left with a mushy middle made up of dried out turkey and cheese, paper thin mushy avocado, onion, watery white tomato and sprouts. The rest of the store was pretty cool. But that doesn't give them an excuse for selling a dried old sandwich if you don't have the ingredients don't sell it.
Good food, though pricey. Set of picnic tables in back (and area is dog friendly) and there is a little indoor seating too. Makes a lot of sense as a bicycle stop along nearby trail, and will probably add as an occasional stop when traveling through on hwy 12.
Great coffee, delicious sandwiches! Stop by after your bike ride, this place is a great stop!
Complete gem! Dropped in for lunch and espresso based on word of mouth. A turkey sandwich hit the spot and the caffeine was great too. Will be back next time with a bicycle.
Love the menu, the owner is really nice if you strike up a conversation and prices are really fair. Always love this place after a hike, run or bike ride! Love that they use real mugs rather than disposable!!!
This place is awesome! Right by MTB trails and offers; bike service, tasty food, and cool refreshments. They do a great job, a must stop after a ride.
Great selection of well cared for rentals which are sold after the season at a discount.
Friendly service, good selection of food, beer, and coffee. The perfect Kettle Moraine oasis
We go there every time after a hike for lunch. Peanut butter balls are a must!
What a excellent place to stop and enjoy some delicious lunch and a beer. They offer a great selection of craft beer (6pks) and all their food is made from scratch and is yummy! Desserts too! When its warm out they offer outdoor seating. Bike shop hooked onto the place is also a neat addition to go and browse.
I went in to get a nut and washer for my son's bike that I couldn't get at a hardware store. Everyone was very nice and helpful. A man told me that they don't carry much for youth bikes, but gave me a used nut and washer to try for free! Plus he told me two places to go closest to where I live if it happened to not fit. (It did fit perfectly, though) That, I think, was the best part. If you can't help, telling me where to go that will be convenient for me is awesome! Great place!
Great place for lunch. Sandwiches are pricey (around $8) but good quality. They also sell tea and homemade soaps.
Friendly knowledgeable staff. Just about anything you would need to help complete your day of riding trails. Bikes are top of the line that they rent. They also told me they sold bikes both new and after they've been rented for a few months at a substantial discount. I visited 20 years ago they were gem then, now just a little bigger and better with more to offer. Thanks guys for all your help!
A favorite deli for decades. Delicious soups and sandwiches. Quality foods and drinks for your outing to the Kettle Moraine State Forest. Friendly staff
This is more of a deli style restaurant than a bike shop. Excellent smoothies and sandwiches. Not much for seating room, but the environment is so positive that no one seems to mind.
Great stopping point during a ride. Good sandwiches, beers and usually cool people hanging out.
Went there with 5 people, was told we cant be in there , all 5 of us had masks on. Would never go back. Also would leave a 0 star rating if i could.
Bicycler friendly store with Backyard Bikes attached. Trek bikes & accessories & gear. Many biking groups use store as part of ride, meet up or destination. (Parking across road Hwy H). A Tuesday evening riding group starts here. Lots of great snack options...many "healthy" choices, and ice cream & brownies (made local) and other treats, coffees, teas, juice & other beverages.
Great place to socialize with good food and beverages@
Love this place! Lots of local options to pick from, it's like a mini co-op! Friendly staff, great snacks, coffee, or whatever you need to compete an adventure on the trails!
This is possibly the best sandwich shop in the country, it is consistently amazing. Literally every item on the menu is a solid 10/10. The employees are always kind, and it appears that everything is homemade.
What a great little place! They had a great beer selection to go, ice cream, Bakery goods (including gluten-free treats) and cappuccino. Fun place to stop!
My go to Bike Shop and Store. I ve been going here for many years.. They are the Best!
I'll never get tired of this place...the bike shop is beyond the best I've been. The lunch counter offers a great cup of soup...the beer selection is wow...i hike from here...bike from here and just never get tired of being at Lagrange General store.
The sandwich and bike shop at the edge of the John Muir Trail.
Quaint little place. Homemade sandwiches, good healthy organic food and drink. An excellent starting and ending place for bicyclists traveling through the Kettle Moraine wilderness.
I always love to stop in for a turkey feast sandwich and some eggy potato salad
Closed! Did not look like there was any activity for a while as there were lots of "we missed you" postal tags on the door. I have been here before and its an awesome place. Hope they are still around.
This place is a great place to stop and get a delicious sancwhich! You have the option to build your own which is a great idea or you can order sandwiches they have made. I also recommend getting a lavender lemonade! Perfect after mountain biking at kettle moraine!! With covid, they've closed in door seating, but its a wonderful idea to take your food and sit at kettle moraine and enjoy the nice weather and delicious food!
Nice environment and great workers! Great pit stop for hikers and mountain bikers.
Aloha! This is a must go! I live in Maui, Colorado, Washington and have to come back at least every other year to rent a bike, eat the best food! and share a special place you just don't find anymore. Make time to visit! Hike, Ride, Eat, Shop, Explore its a place for everyone!
Friendly staff. Great ice cream. Excellent place to stop after a hike or bike ride.
Excellent food and Bicycle shop
We've been visiting for decades. Scenic bike route in area
I love riding my bike on the trails, then getting a turkey sandwich and a peanut butter ball. Delicious healthy foods and a great place for lunch.
Best pitstop after a bike ride for the best beer selection and sandwiches!! Awesome bike rental location as well!!
Stopped into the bike shop for directions to the MTB trail. Friendly guys. Good shop.
Fantastic spot and MTB. Great beer and wine but okay sandwiches.
Awesome customer service and knowledgable bike technicians . Great selection of mountain bike rentals.
Disappointing visit I must say. Sandwich was dry. Latte was watery. Cheesecake tasted like something other than cheese. Staff didn't want to give away wifi password. This place use to have amazing food and super friendly staff. What happened!
Pretty sad how they have tried to modernize it.... it was better as La Grange general store. The ambiance of what it use to be when walking into the darkly lit store for a delicious sandwich and beer after a long bike ride on a hot summer day was amazing!!! It felt like a little country oasis market where you could also purchase snacks, beer, bottles of wine and other treats. Unfortunately now all they offer is a menu of two different sandwiches and the option to order online and pick up food from a window. Not the cozy atmosphere it once was :(
I really hope that the owners/management can allow their fear to subside and restore the beautiful energy of the store to what it use to be.
Great after hike place for a cool down lunch and beer.
WORST customer service ever! Bought an expensive bike from them, had problems the next day with the bike. Called them to ask what to do, and they actually HUNG UP on me. What????
They were very nice and helpful when they wanted my money, actually told me they'd honor a one year warranty on parts. That's when they hung up when I asked about it.
Stick with a reputable place like Wheel and Sprocket.
The food was good! The only issue I had was the snottyness of one of the girls that worked there... The story is...I was wearing a Donald Trump shirt and she snickers at me for walking in with it on.. She was rude a undeservinglly sarcastic towards us..We spent about $30 food and place were great! But even with that being said the lack of tolerance by this elitist teen ruined the overall experience! P.s. The young blond girl and young Hispanic girl were great!
Food is very good. Cookies and deli items and ice cream are fabulous. Wide variety drinks including beers and wine and non alcoholic drinks. Many other organic and fun items.
The people are friendly and helpful.
Tables outside on the lawn (in the shade). Very relaxing atmosphere .
Great bikes, great food, and great staff! They are knowledgeable, friendly, and always willing to thoroughly answer all my questions.
I have had coffee here at least 50 times after rising the mountain bike trails at Kettle Moraine. The Collectivo coffee selection is always delicious, varied, and hot. The muffin and pastry selection ranges from old and minimal to fresh and abundant depending on the day and time. Service is generally friendly and quick. Prices are a bit above average considering food quality, and atmosphere but the lack of competition nearby will do that to most businesses. Beer, wine, and knick knacks are also sold here but I have not looked closely at the prices. The selection is good. Bike related goods and services are more costly than large regional providers offer.
I had my bike repaired there after years of neglect. The personnel were extremely helpful, the price was reasonable and only components that really needed to be replaced were. They run an extraordinarily ethical business - I would have had to pay twice as much and had most of the parts replaced at a chain bike shop - so glad they are in business!
Fantastic little cafe style shop! It isn't far from some great trailheads, and right at the backdoor of the Kettle Moraine. There is a repair shop in there , as well as a very good sandwich shop. The ample parking across the street means that this is a perfect place to start a bike trek
II have been coming to the Southern Kettles almost every Saturday with my boys since 2001. I have now purchased 7 bikes from them. They have been so good at taking care of my needs. If I have been up biking and for what whatever reason need a repair so I could continue my day. they fixed my rigs right away. I was back out riding the someday every time. I was glad I did not have to leave the area and wait a week to get my bikes fixed. Repairs were done fast and I never had to return for a repeat.
The Boys never let me leave the state forest without stopping for one of the deli sandwiches and ice cream after. I fell in love with the many beer selection many I never heard of. TWO WOMEN by New Glarus? Is that a Mormon brew? Even when both boys got into High School and there were many competing interests I could always entice them to accompany the old man. The bait: our post biking stop at the bike shop. You can expect, Friendly staff, Good healthy food, pride in what they make themselves (SOUPS etc.) and that small town, Mayberry feel I grow up with before portion control and scales were more evident than a smile and a thank you.
Negatives? Everyone else likes to stop there too so allow for it. You may wait 5 more minutes for your hand-made, freshly-build deli sandwich. Do it, you will be glad you did. If that is an issue drive the 12 miles down to Elkhorn and do the burger thing. The line just got shorter for someone. By the time you get to Elkhorn I will be enjoying a FatTire with a turkey club and reading chapter 1 in my new book titled Weekends, how not to rush back to Mondays Weekends can be busy and seating can be scarce. In the summer there is plenty of outside backyard feel tables. Winter time; inside seating can be found even at prime times if one is patient. I am a FIB, (friendly IL biker) if I can work through it, I know you good folk can. The food is so worth it.
No I did not get paid to write this, No I am not related, No I am not a food critic. Just an IT computer geek waiting for a Server to reboot. Enjoy
Rented bikes from them. They both broke down on the ride. They were not willing or wanting to be helpful. "It's your fault, your problem."
Stopped in for a beer after hiking at the Nordic Trails. $4.22 for a bottle of beer. Very pricey.
Such nice people who take your order. They have gluten free items and since I'm gluten free, it's a favorite of mine. One of our favorite stops when heading north.
The sandwiches are great, bike shop is awesome but the people in the sandwich shop are so rude. We bike a lot and eat here quite a bit and have always had terrible service. Would it hurt you guys to smile just a little?
Mike, Andy, Pete are the best bike wrenches bar none. Friendly, knowledgeable, flexible and funny. Excellent selection of premium bikes and great deli and restaurant.
They were quick and responsive. Cleaned up and checked over my 8 year old mountain bike plus pad changes. Can't beat the price! I will be using them again for future service and would recommend.
