If these amazing colours for fresh, local produce don't entice you to the French markets in Parnell, then perhaps the sweet Pacific inspired treats by master chef at Sweet & Me will!

Go for the fresh veggies and fruit, but stay for the delectable ready to eat street food and great atmosphere!

I am a regular here and it is always a winner way to start your weekend! Caution - lines for great food can be long but it's worth it.

A lot of people were recommending this market to me and I was quite excited about it being a "French" market. Came here in the morning around 10, but there was nothing much French about it and the pastries and coffee were really disappointing and overpriced. Few cute stalls and shops but wasn't really worth staying longer than 5 minutes. Won't be coming here again

Even though it was Easter weekend when I came here there was still plenty of stalls! I got some delicious limoncello cream and some lovely pastries. And I'd recommend the coffee from La Cigale itself. The pork and fennel sausage rolls were also really good and well worth it!

One of the best market/cafe/bistro/shop. I've been at! They have a number of varied stalls to choose from, with good seating capacity-- although it gets filled up quickly, especially in Sundays.

My favourites:
- they serve the BEST coffee (Gravity beans). There's always a long line of people, waiting for their morning coffee fix
- Tahsin's Market - sells the BEST hummus with so much variety. You can try to sample first before you buy, but everything is so good you'll end up getting confused on which to get It's typically $5 per tub, but when we went the next day, it was $10 for 3 tubs. Not sure if that's a usual discount, but make sure to take advantage of that
- Paella Pan - there's usually a line here as well because of the delicious paella! I know rice in the morning is pretty heavy but so worth it. The guy cooking/serving is also quite nice so that's a plus. $15 for a small serving (good for 1-2), $18 for large (good for 2-3 people)
- French Crepes - sweet ending after eating so much savoury food

La Cigale is definitely a must try!

Myself and my husband went to the market today (Saturday 9th January 2021) and we arrived at around 8:15am (keep in mind the website says they open at 8am). I went to order two coffees from the main coffee stand inside the building.
Once the girl behind the till had finished laughing with her colleagues, I asked for the two coffees. She said they weren t open yet and they would be open in 10 minutes. So I said that was fine and I would place my order anyway and once they open I will pick up the coffees, so she took my payment and I went to pick up some croissants.
20 minutes had lapsed and myself and my husband had finished our croissants. We were sat at the table watching the staff make coffees for all of their friends and they were laughing and joking and just messing around.
We went over and asked if our coffees were ready and they said No, they were making coffees for everyone else first (meaning their friends). It was unbelievable. My husband asked them to just make the order so we could leave and we were met with rude looks and they were whispering amongst themselves and begrudgingly made our order.
Such a shame the coffee stand is run by a bunch of immature children.

I stopped by when I was at the French Markets on a Saturday. The main market is in the outside area but there were a few things inside here. The interior is decorated really nicely and has a unique French Feel. There was a patisserie stall here as well as a fromagerie and some hot foods. There were quite a few large tables in here.
The fromagerie has a lot of different cheese and we had a few which were interesting. It was a nice place to look around and the market is a big plus.

Great market close to the CBD area. The humus stall is really good - my girlfriend and I couldn t leave without buying 5 different ones. Also, the hotdog stall (where you got to choose your sausage) is amazing. Really tasty hotdogs.
One thing - I think a small bar with beer on tap will just be the cherry on top for this bar. A suggestion. :) But will definitely be back!
