Enjoyable. Chic and Bohemian, lots of history, not to mention great artwork at this location.
Loveliest French restaurant. I especially like the atmosphere and approaching staff in there. They have this quite exquisite Theatre menu, where you can choose from a two or three course set menu. I recommend splurging for the 3-course one as that way you'd try much more of their amazing food.
Me and my wife celebrated here our anniversary and i would say that this place worth each penny! The design inside is amazing! On the entrance we were met by a hostess! Nothing to compare in london with a quite live music! But the most what we remembered were the snails! One of the best snails I ever had in my life! The staff is very polite and very professional! I will give a strong 5 and would recommend this place to everyone who wants to enjoy their meal in a really high level restaurant! Btw dress code on!, so be smart ;)
One of the nicest French restaurants I've been in London! The food is superb. The staff is very professional and friendly, made us feel very special! Thank you to a wonderful Solveiga who made our evening extra special!
Very good french restaurant.
Fine cuisine and attentive staff. quiet atmosphere in the heart of a soho so noisy
Visited L'Escargot for a second time recently. It didn't fail to impress me once again. Delicious, decadent food that will tantalise your tastebuds, excellent staff, attentive service. Relaxed atmosphere and there is a very talented pianist on Fridays. I had the rich lobster bisque (I have been assured it's the best you can get in town) and the bouillabaisse. A friend had the lobster which was to die for, lots of organic butter and parsley. Sadly, no room left for their amazing sounding dessert. Highly recommended if you want to experience the taste of France in the heart of Soho.
Lovely informal restaurant. Good food. Great service
Great smart place to eat with your parents and family
Pretty nice restaurant, quit reasonable prices, great service.
Great food with very helpful and friendly staff. Will visit again.
Great place in London to have a taste of snails. Love the interior, the service is nice.
Very romantic atmosphere, the staff is extremely attentive and friendly. We took a 2 courses menu at very reasonable price. Onion soup and also duck with beets and roasted hazelnuts was delicious. Our outstanding experience in London
Have walked by this place for years and finally had a work dinner here. What a great surprise, loved it! Excellent food and service!
Quirky interior is like stepping back 100 years yet the food is on the level of any current London restaurant. Massive wine list to please.
Beautiful venue. Upstairs music space is nice but a bit too cramped. Service very slow. But staff pleasant.
Absolutely loved L'escargot. I came here for lunch with clients and would highly recommend it. The food was beautiful and the service attentive and perfect. Highly recommend coming here.
I used to come here often 2 years ago but nearly a year ago it seemed to lose it's charm. It's back.
Fantastic fine dining restaurant which also welcomes dogs into their main dining room!!! Also awesome art works!! A must!
Lovely ambience and great food. A Soho classic. Excellent waiting staff are friendly and efficient.
Excellent food. Friendly staff and nice rooms. Definitely a restaurant I'd like to go back soon.
Promised big with his facade of waiters and style, but the food was no more than approved. Raw material was good but far too faded.
We spent our 20th Anniversary here on friday evening(25th Oct). The food was excellent and the service was Outstanding. Looking forward to our next visit.
Delicious! No dress code, wear jeans and sneakers if you like. Most of the guest dressed nice. The Escargot is good, first time ever trying em. The steak with foie gras is delicious, order the key lime pie after. The service was great also. Mike our waiter is outstanding. He even took a selfie with us. I definitely would come back.
Really very good, because we entered at a certain time, so there is a discount meal, about 20 pounds, the service is very good, the atmosphere is very romantic, it is worth a try!
Beautiful building with semi-private dining rooms. Great menu. Awesome staff.
Amazing place to eat, a bit price, but worth every penny of it!
My partner treat me a dinner on my first day of my new job. We were looking for restaurants around Soho and just by accidentally passing by and decided to eat here and had really enjoyed it.
The service was just on the spot, the menu are real French. I ordered Beef dish, the beef was cooked perfect pink, medium rare not blood drip, just as I expected, their cocktails also taste divine..
I will definitely take my friends here for dinner again!
Historic restaurant with great food & great atmosphere
Very good French food. The wait staff was friendly and made sure we had our wine glasses full. The food did take while to come out but that just could have been how this place is.
Great hidden gem for late night cocktails on comfy sofas
I really enjoyed eating at this restaurant I have been twice where the food is of high quality and standard with beautiful ambience with Carl, the Piano Player in the background. I love how set up of the restaurant, its very Posh and well set up. I highly recommend.
Pricy, good food but slightly over salty, should wait for special offer, service okay.
Great food and great service, definitely coming back to try all the other things on the menu. Unfortunately did not have room for dessert this time. Great ambiance and lovely place, just a shame that they no longer open on Sundays. Beef was perfect, snails equally so and salad and bread really fresh. Great service from all the staff. Sweets at the end was a very nice touch.
The decor; the style; the ambience; the food; the service... all good or enjoyable.
One gripe that's fair-game. We pitched up without a reservation at 18:50. The front desk suck air through their teeth and look seriously doubtful: hamming it up big-time. They return from 2 minutes valiant checking and we all breathe a sigh of relief that they can *just about* manage to >>squeeze us in<<. We were taken to a 15% occupied room. 90 minutes later, admittedly replete and quite happy, we prepare to leave, the room being at that point about 10% occupied.
Moral: more food, less theatre.
Great food, staff attentive but not intrusive. Definitely value for money. Very romantic
The food is okay, although really nothing too special. General meh. The waiters are fun though!
Frequent diner at this one-off french restuarnt in Soho. The food is excellent, along with helpful and friendly staff and two larger than life co owners that make me feel more than welcome every visit. In my humble opinion, it's a must visit, especially if french food is to your specific taste.
Went with a friend. Cosy but smart. Lovely decor. No music, just the sound of people talking. Tables not too close to each other. Delicious food - canard. Excellent Bordeaux red. Friendly and attentive service. Not cheap, but well worth it.
Probably one of the best restaurants i've been to this year - the fillet beef was simply perfect. Service was top notch too. If you fancy a classy setting with great food, highly recommend.
I got really bad food poisoning a few hours after I had my meal here and called the restaurant the following day, they told me to email the team and the manager would get back to me about compensation but I never heard back. That s not the right way to run a respectable business so I won t be returning.
Lovely atmosphere, great food and not too expensive
Outstanding French restaurant in the heart of Soho. Service is impeccable and attention to detail second to none. It's been open for 91 years and for good reason. Highly recommended !
Fab eatery. The lamb absolutely delicious & the pistachio shuffle , outrageously yummy for the tummy. Gr8 place
Lovely pre theatre dinner nice atmosphere good value
Absolutely first class. Delicious snails with lashings of garlic and parsley butter. Rare Chateaubriand melting in the mouth. Delicate and delicious champagne and raspberry jelly. Best meal for years. Plus excellent and unobtrusive service.
Great food, great atmosphere, extremely friendly service. My favourite London restaurant.
A perfect throw back to 1960s London and yes they still serve escargots!
It's a great spot in Soho - for some reason it wasn't TOO busy and there was loads of space so you can have a proper conversation. There's live piano and the service was prompt, polite and all around great. My friends really enjoyed their More
My boyfriend and I went to this restaurant for our one year anniversary! We couldn't have had imagined a better place than here! Food was amazing, they even gave us two glasses of prosecco to bring with just to wish us on our day! It was a delightful evening!
It is on the pricey side but we were celebrating so it seemed called for
Lovely food, lovely atmosphere. I been served by lovely young lady Judita!. best compliments, I will come back for sure!
Food is just amazing. Service top notch. I really enjoyed myself.
Brilliant meal for three of us. Lovely experience with excellent service from the staff. Food was fantastic, particularly the Chateaubriand. Good atmosphere, not rushed, plenty of attention to detail. Boning the Dover sole at table was a nice touch. Desserts were yummy and at last my wife has had a 'proper' Creme Broule. Topped off by a nice little birthday touch at the end for my wife. Top notch place. Recommended.
There's a reason it's been here forever - just a lovely place to be, good food and staff of course, but the restaurant itself has that perfect classy, timeless, atmosphere. Strangely enough, the escargot aren't that great, but everything else is!
Amazing restaurant - such a delicious meal and really good vibes. We had two wonderful waiters , one from Sicily who was just lovely.
Food was fine, nothing special. Venue is amazing, it is a shame the food couldn't live up to it.
Definitely not worth it given high prices.
Even if you're not a fan of snails (which I'm definitely not) L'Escargot has a lot to offer in terms of French cuisine and is not incredibly expensive despite it's prime Soho location. The wine list is impressive, and for the voracious meat-eaters they do surprisingly good steaks!
Came here for lunch on a Friday afternoon. Classic French restaurant in soho, beautiful interior (note to restaurant - chandelier above bar is horrendous). Their famous snack truffled sausage was delicious, pastry flaky. I had duck confit and dauphinois potatoes and both are lovely. Good service, waiters are pretty relaxed and smily. I would go back and try some other classic French dishes
Dined on 7/8/12 @6pm we had a fantastic evening with excellant service and food.Thank you to every one for making a great evening
Great value, amazing food, wonderful service and atmosphere topped of with good cocktails and wine list. And you can always get a table.
Certainly one of those "best-kept secret" type of places. It's only when I got here for LIVE from Salon Noir, yesterday, for musician George Pelham's performance, did I realise I had been here years ago, for dinner.
Salon Noir upstairs is a lovely intimate venue with wonderful music, beautiful decor and pleasant staff. Drinks need to be served/made faster though. last night, I was here for an event and we all had to wait to for like... forever, to get drinks.
Only 2 barmen serving when the room is fully packed is also annoying. Is the management putting profit before customer service, by employing as less staff as possible so less labour means more profits? If not for the slow service, the evening would have been ultra perfect!
Seating a bit too cramped. There should be a different way to do this. I could've arranged the furniture better! At a space like this, the most important thing is to make sure that customers are able to move around freely without the need to get up and let others pass every time someone wants to grab a vacant seat. Bar needs to be a bit longer/wider so there could be 1 more bartender.
Having been involved in events for the past 25 years, I can honestly say that the majority of venues miss the obvious and don't see things from the guests' and customers' point of view. Salon Noir can be much better in terms of experience and comfort. The contact form on their website doesn't work. Little things like this matter. You'd be surprised at the amount of businesses I've come across that either miss, are unaware of, or put off correcting those little mistakes here and there!
Incredibly shoddy service - waved at waiters, called downstairs to get the bill and still waited 20 minutes for it. They forgot my drinks order also.
Really wonderful. The staff are so kind and generous. Beautiful space and great great food x
I have been to L'Escargot several times now to celebrate special occasions and every time my guests and I have absolutely LOVED it!! This is such a great place; welcoming and friendly staff, fabulous food and great wine suggestions. Wasn't a fan of french food until my eyes were opened by L'Escargot
A French restaurant with lots of history, and of course you can always get snails. Relaxed, unhurried atmosphere, with plenty of space between courses. Classic French food and good service.
Classic Soho restaurant. Don't expect anything cutting edge, but if you're looking for reliable food and a solid wine list with a glimpse of old Soho glamour, this is the place.
L Escargot is a top class London restaurant with good meeting room facilities and interesting art.
With French food being one my favourite cuisines I was keen to try this place during London restaurant week. While we were only trying the set menu I thought what we were served up for the price was decent and traditionally French. It lacked the usual French flair I was expecting but for the price I really can t complain. The restaurant itself was lovely inside however the tables were very close together and felt almost as if my boyfriend and I were dining with the couple next to us. Good basic French food, but I probably wouldn't go back.
Had a great time at L'Escargot. The best French restaurant I've been to in London and a great atmosphere and aesthetic to the building, love what they've done to the place.
Staff were friendly and helpful and our night even more enjoyable than it already was.
Highly recommended.
Had the last dinner of ten-day-trip. L'Escargot is the top. Even my nine-year-old son felt it.
so so escargot ...
(over done very rubbery- too much garlic too)
everything else was great
lobster was very good
lemon tart all very good ..
great meal over all.....
the snails were just over cooked and too garlicky
