The dj party on Sundays was wonderful, but as a UBC alumni, I found the security guards to be extremely rude, disrespectful, poorly trained. One in particular seemed to enjoy telling people what they can and cannot do a little bit too much.

This place is phenomenal, I had my wedding reception here and the catering and the event coordination and absolutely everything was perfect. I could not have been happier with my wedding and I received endless compliments from my guests about the entire thing, from how gorgeous the venue was to how great the food was. :)

Did someone say TACO TUESDAY? UBC may not have many options for good food, but this may certainly count. One downside: they are super strict about only allowing those who are 19+. Fun atmosphere!

A nice place to go on campus for a drink. Sometimes, it can get a bit rowdy when large crowds show up, so it isn't always the greatest place for "a chill drink".

It tends not to be as grimy as The Pit though, which is nice.

Nice little pub space geared toward grad students. They've got a pool table and lots of tables. They've also got a solid selection of craft beer (no non-craft beer, in fact), and the food, especially the fish and chips, was awesome.

I like Koerners pub, but it has a few critical flaws that keep it from being great. The ambiance is great, a nice selection of drinks, and food that is seemingly good. The food is where I actually have the most issue. Simple things like a burger or fish and chips should be easy to nail, but I've been served fish that was frozen and still raw under the batter. Similarly with a kimchi rice bowl that didn't actually contain any kimchi.

If you're just looking for drinks, this place is great, but stay away from the food.

One of the nicest places to eat and drink on campus, and affordable too. However the kitchen can be hit-or-miss. I've had one of the best burgers I've ever eaten, made with juicy grass-fed BC beef. I've also been there on bad nights. Now, when I go to Koerner's I watch the kitchen crew for a few minutes before ordering and get a salad if I see them squeezing the juice out of the burgers. Fortunately the salads are also really good.

As far as the ambiance, it's a little kitschy, but it beats anything else on campus. The staff is also a little hammy, talking up the food as it arrives. Also, beware the funky chairs at the bar. They're unstable.

Anywhere else in town, I would have given this four stars, but considering it's at least a 20 minute bike ride to the next good food at these prices, I have to hand it to Koerner's.

Don't go if your old enough to drink. This used to be a nice pub run by the grad student society, now it seems to have turned into a dance bar. This message was approved by an angry old man.

This pub is my go to place for parties mainly because I have many friends that I might bump into here and that it makes me feel safe. The crowd is really great! However, to get drinks you might have to wait a bit to get the bartenders attention but that is understandable. The washrooms are clean and tidy. There is coat check available which is really convenient. The music is great too but could use a bit more improvement...but overall I love this place :D

Need a wider selection of beer, service is good. Great place to sit outside and enjoy a beer in the summers. If you want a place go as early as you can after work hours, gets filled up quickly.

Beer and food selection diversifying toward what you'd find on Main St.. vibe is generally great but does swing between chill and wild depending on the night. Incredible outdoor seating when you can get it and a cozy interior year-round.

I like the change to ordering exclusively at the bar. Never struck me as the type of place that needed table service, and things are much less ambiguous this way. Hopefully it makes things easier on the staff!

Food was pretty good. However, service was horrible. The waiter barely came to our table, and then by 7:45 p.m. they started removing the tables around us and said we have a ticketed event that starts around 8. We were only told 15 minutes prior. Overall it's ok but not a place worth going back to...

Great service and great place for a beer. Tried the Pho nauchos which I do not recommend. These are popular with the students, but too sweet and weird for me. This isn't a cheap place for food and beer, but convenient if heading to the Chan Theatre.

Do not recommend for weddings.

My husband and I initially tried booking Koerners Pub at UBC as we were looking for a beautiful patio space for our wedding. We reached out and got spotty responses back from their events manager (it often took a few follow ups to hear back). We finally went in and met with the evens manager to let her know what were looking for (open bar, passed appies and platters, and a late night snack). Everything was going well, she sent us the quote and it was full of errors so we asked for a revision so we could pay the deposit. This was last October. Throughout the month we called her direct line and the venue, left voicemails, and sent emails and never heard back. Our last attempts were us asking for her to revise the quote (for more money) so we could pay them and we never heard back. We know the events manager still works there. Our wedding was earlier this month and to this day, we haven't heard back from our calls/voicemails/emails last year! Luckily, after a month of being ghosted by the manager, we moved on to a new venue and they were amazing. But be forewarned.

I have been to Koerners many times over the last school year. They have a decent selection of beer. The bar service is fast, but be prepared to wait a long time for table service and to get food. The food is overpriced, but most of it is okay. Pretty food tacos and yam fries. The poutine is not the best. Overall a decent student bar.

Slow, expensive, uncomfortable. Maybe there's some kind of appeal in a weird way. Maybe the long wait time lets you chat more. Maybe the hard benches and the jars you drink from have a hipster-y attraction. Wouldn't go there again.

Beer selection is good and good is surprisingly good. It's a campus joint, so unless you are a student or employee, there's not a big reason to make the trek. However, it's a pretty cool place if you're or that way.

My friend and I went here for lunch. We both got salads with added chicken and feta. I got a beer. They have a decent selection of beers on tap, including locals. Our server was attentive. We were both really pleased with our salads (super fresh produce from UBC farm) until we noticed the chicken tasted a bit off. It's clearly prepped and re-warmed, and must have turned. Disappointing given that everything else was so fresh, however they dealt with it very well. We let our server know, who let the kitchen know, because everything is open we saw him discard the rest of the prepped chicken. The restaurant didn't charge us for our salads. Despite this, I would still come back given the good customer service. The outdoor area will be nice once it warms up a bit.

Thanks for the entertaining alternative to class readings in the form of an entertaining read of your new menu. You're the best for atmosphere, accommodating a vegan diet, and avoiding educational responsibilities. Oh and the staff is pretty neat as well. Cheers.
