I highly recommend Kival and Howard I had a situation were I was unfairly charged and turned over to collections. I told Kival and Howard my situation and They rectified the challenge. In the past I just paid the unfair charges. The law firm treated me with respect and acted professionally. I have also have had positive experiences with Legal Shield.

I am delighted at the quality of all the attorneys at this firm and how quickly they respond. I have worked in insurance and litigation for decades and am accustomed to top attorneys. The people at Kivel and Howard are top class.

No longer pleased at all with the service! We have been members for about 2-3 years, but I will no longer endorse this company. I have had a very poor experience with them recently. The attorney I dealt with seemed inept at best. It turned out to be a huge waste of valuable time.

I called on a trafic ticket I received. Received a call back right away within the stated times for my LegalShield membership.

One their top notch lawyers talked with me until the issue was fully explored including all of the legal ramifications and all of my options.

It is really really nice to have a firm that does its homework and will stay on the phone with you until all of your questions are answered and options explored.

I wouldn't recommend this firm to anyone. Worst service possible. Every step of the process has taken weeks longer than they say and they don't respond to any phone calls with messages or emails. The fact you have to pay up front should be illegal but of course it's lawyers and they get to make their own rules that doesn't apply to any other trade. I will be filing many complaints.

This firm has the hardest working staff I ve ever seen. It was a pleasure to work with some of the most wonderful, caring and knowledgeable individuals I have ever had the pleasure to know let alone call my co-workers and friends. They are committed to utilizing every service available in order to help every single person who reaches out to them in their time of need. It warms my heart to have seen all the good they do. I cannot rate this law firm highly enough. They have dealt with a variety of issues for me. They are prompt in calling me back, pleasant to work with and have provided me with great advise on numerous occasions over the 8 years I have been a member. I don't always hear what I want to hear but I do always get a truthful, accurate answer. They have literally saved me thousands and thousands of dollars.

spoke to a man who said his name was "T" (or Tee, sp ) and a Leslie Pietila with a simple legal question with a barrage of questions, no help (its the way they talk and do business). I received a tone as to talking down to me.
After answering their questions, they decided that they could not talk to me.

It was the intent of this service to make legal consultations available for members at affordable costs when this company was founded, which is very difficult to come by and often times not the case.
I was denied chance to talk with an attorney, even to ask question(s) about an issue. Rude, arrogant describes this firm with my experience.

I have been a member of legal shield for many years now, and to my dismay it is very hard to use these benefits.

The attorney at the firm MICHAEL C. MCCASLIN was very very unprofessional. First call with the attorney you was cursing and very aggravated. Then he didn t do do diligence on the facts of the case or even look up the laws. He had about 6 emails with us that where all very short 4-5 word replys. Was very vague with his replys and when we addressed that with him he decided his firm wouldn t continue to work with us cause we questioned his short vague replys. We connected the firm and spoke to a manager who explained the senior attorney would call us to resolve this issue. 2 week went by and never got a reply .we called again and had to leave a message which also wasn t returned. Then we called again 1 week later and the firm told us they would not accept our call. THIS IS INSANE! Never will we do business with a firm like that or a service like legal shield who recommends firms like this. The firm is also charging us the full 1000$ retainer we gave them and they did NOTHING! Our new attorney did his due diligence and with one email to the opposite side for our issue resolved the matter!....If McCaslin had done his due diligence it would of been resolved long ago...also McCaslin just told us to submit to the opposite side and take a loss. WOW again what a horrible attorney

If I could rate my lawyer and this law firm 0 stars, I would. STAY AWAY FROM THEM IF YOU ARE HOPING FOR COMPETENT REPRESENTATION! My lawyer charged me thousands of dollars for very, very little effort. If you are looking for a lawyer who cares and/or will fight for you over something that is important to you, this is not the place. You've been warned and you're welcome.

I have been a Legal Shield member for about 8 months since being introduced to the service by a good friend. The help I have received has exceeded my expectations and I am more than happy to be a member. Recently I had an issue that required consultation and I was referred to Attorney Greg Woods. I
actually consulted with Mr. Woods on two separate occasions. Both times not only did Mr. Woods display an expertise and thorough knowledge of the area of my inquiry, but he also impressed upon me a genuine concern and interest in my issue. I did not get the kind of cold indifferent advice familiar to many who have dealt with lawyers. But instead Mr. Woods was personable, warm, funny and most of all he gave spot on advice about how to navigate through the complexities of my issue. I have been very pleased with my Legal Shield membership as a whole and that is in large part due to the assistance I have received from Mr. Woods.

I rely on this law firm regularly. As a landlord I cannot imagine how difficult it would be without this Law Firm offering guidance and professional support where needed. I have used them to review and make modifications to breeding contracts when purchasing a dog, I used them to review the contract when refinancing my home, I've used them to write cease and desist letters to unfavorable persons to protect my family and assets. When I first started using the service it was strange because they didn't seem overly customer service oriented. But it occurred to me that they are not in the business of customer service. They are in the business of giving me direct, blunt, and accurate, information that will benefit me. I don't always get the answer I want when I call, but I always know how to proceed in a legal manner most beneficial to me.

I emailed over a few documents for legal a matter when submitting a an information request (looking to obtain an attorney). Someone called me the next day, without reading the request or the documents... he wanted me to state everything all over again and read to him what the documents clearly state.?!

After giving a little constructive criticism, he was VERY rude and seemed eager for an argument. I hung up the phone and will be seeking an attorney elsewhere. NO THANKS!

This firm owed me money and then tried to force me to pay a surprise bill instead.

I have always experienced positive service from this law firm. The staff is friendly & professional. They go out of their way to make sure all questions are answered.

Definitely would not reccomend this place. I've been trying to contact them for over a week with a matter and they keep saying that they are going to make attempts to call me and never do. Now that I have expressed this to the person answering the phone they said there's nothing they can do and that I'll just have to continue waiting. Negative five stars.

My legalshield membership has saved me over 30K in the 5 short years we have used it. and even though afew times I didn't get the answer I wanted I still got the correct information. They have always gone the extra mile, and since consultation is free with your membership they always ask if there is anything else they can help with ?
I have never been asked for money or received a bill other than my monthly membership of less than $1 a day.

My experience with Kivel & Howard and the Legalshield program has been amazing! I absolutely love the service because when you need a cheap consultation or a pair of professional eyes to review a contract, Kivel & Howard won't let you down. I believe some of the negative reviews K&H gets comes from people who don't understand what the Legalshield program is designed to do. If all you need is consultation and a few other basic legal services, then you need Legalshield. If you have a difficult legal situation that requires the hands on help of a lawyer, expect K&H to charge normal legal fees, unless you bought an adder that gives you additional coverage.

I pretty much echo the comments of others about the arrogance and general unwillingness to help. Within a minute and a half conversation with a Greg Woods (who is incredibly good at his job according to him) about a contractual issue, I was told that he was sure they would just tell him I was a difficult client and that there was just no pleasing me. He didn't give me two minutes...literally, to understand our companies position.
This is not the first time that I have used them and right off the bat, been told I didn't have a chance, without being able to have the time to even explain what my question is or concerns are.
Our business has payed for Legal Shield for around ten years now and only needed them a few times thankfully. But out of the handful, they have been useful for checking our documents and that is all.
I don't know about on the personal side, but for business, don't do it unless you have money and time to waste.

This firm is part of Legal Shield aka Prepaid legal, Owner is arrogant and rude, If you join this plan you will get a call center with 'attorneys' who are young, inexperienced and not helpful. Unprofessional, a total waste of money,

What we got was a letter with errors and more than two weeks wait.

I don't like to write bad reviews to any one, but this time I am forced to sit down and write about the unprofessional service from Pierre L. Robert. I contacted him on 4/6/14 to draft a letter & on 4/17/14 he drafted a letter that had mistakes with the names and did not included items specifically asked for.

We also asked Mr. Robert to email the letter before sending it for us to take a look at it. He did not email it to us. He did not keep us posted as promised while in the process. In fact, we have to called him almost everyday just to let him know the importance of this letter to us.

What we get was a letter with errors and a wait of about two weeks. Horrible Serivec from Kivel & Howard LLP.

I found that Kivel & Howard had the answers I needed for my legal concerns. Everyone here is polite, helpful and professional.

The legal shield part is a joke given terrible legal advice several times. Your better off representing yourself

Legal shield hooked me up with this place, wow saving money did not work for me at all. It was the worst experience ever.

To my understanding my attorney Chamber Dorheim was a legal aid for many years and was very new to representing clients in a divorce case.

I would not recommend.

She thought it would be best to round my child support up $40 for potentially 15 plus years than a settlement of $500.....ah do the math on that one. Brilliant

I have saved over $14,800 on my first 2 times using this lawfirm. Recently they saved me $600 for a cell phone issue and I have had 3 times over the years - representation for a traffic ticket (I have a great record) they are courteous and listen.

Paid for member fee and got the phone with sentence " just pay the fine on the ticket" ...with sould like I am getting something free from them
My ticket just says VBR 31+ .She just tried to convinced me it is corrdinor...after I repeat so many times, ahe pull the picture of ticket and said, it was ticked to VBR...but also for corrdior....

Kivel & Howard are the best law firm I have used. Legal Shield referred us to them and they have been nothing but top notch. Professional, helpful, fast turn around times, respectful. I 100% trust my personal legal matters and my business legal matter with this law firm! Every attorney there I have talked to just amazing on their level of help an professionalism. Keep up the good work. Will be a client for a long time!

To be fair, my review is based off my experience with one lawyer and how the firm handled the situation afterward.

The lawyer, Juan, gave me incorrect legal counsel, he had me destroy legal evidence involved in two cases - both I'm going to have to forfeit - then gave incorrect information on a civil matter. One for a contract violation, the other is an active EEOC Discrimination lawsuit, the civil matter cost me $100~ in damages and the firm stands firm that he was in his right to mislead me and no accountable action can be taken (mostly to the fact Juan "forgot" to notate our conversations). They have also refused any assistance in recovering lost money and time.

The law firm lawyer stole me money. they acted as debt collectors for a loan and they did not pay the bank the money. the bank is calling me for the money. I called Kivel & Howard, the bank's lawyers, they told me to call THEIR client and find a deal wit them because they did not know anything about the case. I lost a few thousand dollars and my problem is still not solved because of their lousy service, lies, and dishonest lawyers at their law firm. I called and they don't take responsibility and accountability for their mistakes. They have Horrible customer Service! They took my money ! do not trust them!!!!!

Hired Lawyer from Kivel and Howard He ended up starting up at new firm and we were given option to either keep them or stay with our lawyer? we choose to keep lawyer that was working on are case.Case settled for large sum and low and behold somehow they felt entitled to share in proceeds and lawyer fees without really doing anything? They give lawyers in Portland bad name. Our lawyer was very honest and hard working and Kivel and Howard simply trying to steal his thunder and money. Kivel and Howard is destroying their reputation in the legal community.

This law firm is a joke. They don't know the law at all. They will charge you up the wazoo and then lose your case. Go somewhere else!!!

I am a long-time member and very happy with the services I have received. I have both the business plan and a personal plan as well. I use them periodically, obviously I use the business plan more due to contract and collection letters being needed. I have used them personally with huge success too. I have read the more negative reviews and am shocked that people think a lawyer can just fix their issue. Sometimes you do get bad news or they cannot do what you want. NOT a good reason for a bad review. They have a job to do and rules and laws to follow also. I have received great advise although not always what I want to hear. I trust these folks to help me with my legal issues and they have always delivered very well. VERY much worth it!

They have helped me with numerous issues both personal and business. From landlord tenant issues to vendor issues with my business. Overall they saved me about $15,000 in direct expenses I would have paid plus attorney fees whatever those might have been. They are always professional. I'm not sure what call center prior guides have mentioned? Possibly calling into a call center so they can figure out who to send you to? I never dealt with a call center rep on any issue... I dealt with attorney's.

This firm has been a tremendous help to me and my business over the years I would recommend this firm to any friend or business partner. They are fast to return calls and provide positive solutions and results

Two previous experiences with Kivel & Howard and Legal Shield were handled quickly and professionally (including an identity theft incident). Just called about a new matter, regarding health care. I tried to talk to them a year or so back about a tenant rights issue, and the woman blew me off the phone. One five star said they were his LANDLORD lawyers, so they are cold hearted. I need to cancel Legal Zoom, and complain more...what a waste.

I've been a client of Kivel & Howard for over 3 years, and have had nothing but positive experiences with their attorneys and the results. I tend to have a complicated life between operating/growing multiple businesses and just the normal daily consumer stuff that can occur. I've worked with family law attorneys, business attorneys, tax attorneys, etc. I've exited LLC's and created LLC's. I've questioned whether my HOA can do what they tried doing. They've provided me advice and guidance in these areas and more. The true blessing? I am always treated with respect, and have never felt looked down upon. The growth of the firm also means there is new blood, and with this has come a new energy level. I honestly believe the staff and attorney's and K&H enjoy helping their clients, and their passion shows.

Every single time I called my law firm I was told that my question wasn t covered and they couldn t help me. Sometimes they referred me out to non-LegalShield firms, one of whom was appallingly rude to me and the other one appeared to be intoxicated. This program is a scam and only a select few, with the most basic questions that one could get answered on Google, qualify for any real help. I am furious with rudely how I was treated.

A predatory law firm that will get you less than you can on your own and verbally intimidate, attack and accuse you of wanting to get even if you attempt to grieve. Insanely high fees for substandard work. Should be reprimanded and fined for refusing to follow Oregon statutes, which severely hurt my case. But what recourse against lawyers who know all the angles. Would not refer this firm to my worst enemy.

I have had LegalShield which connected me to Kivel & Howard LLP for quite a while now. Have been spreading the word about it, and even signed up a member. I had a few tickets I wanted to reduce the fine on, now that I actually decide to use the service once my lawyer said I needed to call the courts myself, and then closed all my cases. No help at all. I am embarrassed that I recommend this service.

Very very poor company and very un-professional. I called to respond to a letter and was hung up on. Told me I could only respond through writing and would not let me talk to the person that sent me a letter. Again, I was hung up on.

I am a Legalshield member and they are our provider lawfirm. Every time I've called on them,, they have been professional and thorough giving me 1st class service.

I submitted my part of the paperwork in August. have reached out 3 times to see what the status is and have not had a return call. When I call people have been rude every time except the last time I called. Even though that person was nice I still have no answers. I could have honestly done this myself and not spent a bunch of money but I went through them to be official. I ended up using them because of Legal Shield but I will be letting Legal Shield know that my experience has been terrible and frustrating. Apathetic, unprofessional, and condescending. It s really too bad.
