History
Kings Dominion was opened in 1975 by Taft Broadcasting Company as part of their expansion into the theme park industry. The park was designed by renowned amusement park designer Werner Stengel and featured several groundbreaking roller coasters such as the Rebel Yell and Grizzly. In 1992, Kings Dominion was acquired by Paramount Parks which added several new themed areas to the park including Nickelodeon Central and WaterWorks.
In 2006, Cedar Fair Entertainment Company purchased Kings Dominion from Paramount Parks. Since then, the company has invested millions of dollars into improving the park with new rides such as Intimidator 305 - one of the tallest roller coasters on the East Coast - as well as expanding its waterpark offerings with Soak City.

Soak City features over 20 water slides including Hurricane Heights - one of North America's tallest enclosed body slides- wave pools like Tidal Wave Bay where guests can relax in inner tubes while waves crash around them or Splash Island –a children’s play area filled with interactive water features perfect for younger kids!
