My grandmother recently spent just short of two weeks (we requested she be released sooner than the original plan) here for rehab after a fall. She was understandably required to quarantine due to COVID, so wasn t able to leave her room for the entire time she was there. She reported that her bed linens were infrequently changed (maybe once the whole time she was there), she rarely received the salad with her meals (needed to help regulate her blood INR levels) even though it was written on her food orders and the white board in her room every day, staff would often leave the room without placing the call button back on the bed within her reach, so she was unable to call for assistance, getting a glass of water was pulling teeth, and the nursing staff was very often short tempered. The intake paperwork lays out the timeline for assessment and communication with the social worker, she never called. My mother had to instigate communication each time. I know it is a thankless job and everyone is overworked, but for an 88 year old woman to be calling home, crying, asking to leave is horrible. Not being able to enter the facility takes it to a whole other level. I m sure some things are lost in translation, and things always feel worse when you re in the midst of them, but I would wager the majority of my grandmothers complaints are entirely warranted. Not impressed.
I had the unfortunate events that cause my signature other to need to go to the facility. Not only is the place incredible dirty and is constantly understaffed we noticed many other patients that were left in wheelchairs , alone with no help for hrs. I have many photos of the unacceptable conditions at this facility. These have been submitted to the state. If it wasn't for my being there constantly i am unsure of the current outcome of my loved one. Staff is unable to preform even the basics. While sent for rehab I was asked what funeral home I wanted him sent to. Regadless of the fact we had just spent the last month working hard to save his life. No consideration for this family or knowledge of the patient

I have to admit, I was not 100% on board when Adam Lawrence, from The Residence of Quarry Hill, Reflections recommended this placement for my mother. I had no idea! The building may need some updates, but I have worked in this field and never have I met a staff with such long histories at one place who are so positive and not burnt out with their job! (This is a not such an easy job! The work can be very physical, mentally exhausting, and stressful. Hard work! Not always great pay! You would not witness this in A Wing. Very professional Staff!)

My mother has received the best rehabilitation, (she arrived in a wheel chair. Physical Therapy had her up and walking!) She received Occupational and Speech Therapy, which had wonderful results! Thank so much, Rehab Team!
My mother is surrounded by loving and caring people 24/7. I am relieved when I leave her knowing that she is having the best care. Any request to help my mother is addressed immediately!
When I enter the building, I feel like I am a part of the family. The friendly greetings from the Administrative Team, so warm and welcoming!

My father-in-law, Fred, stayed at this facility for rehab recently. He told me the staff, whether it was housekeeping, cnas, nurses, or therapist.., all were very professional, helpful and friendly! He said 'although I hope. never to have to return to a facility again, I would choose this one, if necessary'! Thank you Birchwood!
My mom recently spent three weeks at Birchwood. I can't say enough about the excellent care she received while she was there. Everyone on staff was efficient, caring and friendly making her feel right at home. At 94, she didn't expect to make so much progress in three short weeks. Holly, Jessica, Kelly, Eric, Zach, Robin, Brittany, Terri and Laurel are just a few of the amazing people who took care of her on the rehabilitation wing and to whom we owe so much thanks.
My family had an amazing experience at Birchwood! There are four Nursing Homes in the Burlington area and we ended up choosing Birchwood as they were the only four star facility in Burlington. Also, they just completed a renovation so it s pretty much a brand new facility.

My mother had a long difficult recovery from a stroke last fall. The Birchwood staff was amazing. Her care was first rate. They always seemed to know exactly how to make things better in very tying circumstances. From top to bottom the staff was fantastic. We are grateful we found Birchwood.
I frequently visit Birchwood Terrace transporting elderly people to visit there friends etc. I also have a longtime friend who resides there and I visit him quite often. I find the Administrator and her entire staff very helpful when I need assistance. I also am very pleased with the recent renovation which was very much needed making the facility look more modern, impressing both the residents and people visiting. I would recommend Birchwood to anyone seeking long term care for there loved one's.
