Master Kim is an amazing role model for kids and teens, or anyone for that matter. He holds his students accountable for their actions and behavior and praises there achievements and growth. Every family should be a part of Master Kim's Hapkido program. My son is no longer attending Kim's Hapkido due to financial reasons but I had to give a five star review because it is well deserved. Master Kim, thank you.

This school is good experience for any kids. They focus on the aspects of respect, honesty, teamwork, discipline,listening, coordination, self control. Great experience.

My twins absolutely love Master Kim. Martial arts has changed their lives so much already and we've only been coming here 2 months. My kids look forward to coming here every Monday and Wednesday. Master Kim is amazing with the kids. He's gentle yet somehow also firm, always extremely encouraging in helping kids understand right and wrong in terms of displaying the proper behavior he expects in his studio. I came here based on the recommendations I read on Yelp and Google, and I'm glad I did. Anyone considering bringing their kids here, don't think any longer! There's no harm in trying it out, always look around online for deals; I received their first few weeks at a steal on Groupon. You will definitely see an improvement in your kids' behavior! As an alternative to punishments and warnings, I now just tell my kids when they are misbehaving that Master Kim will be so disappointed when he finds out about _______[insert misbehavior here]_______. :) Works like a charm. :) My kids have never been in an activity like this before, and to be honest, neither have I. At 28, I am learning right along with them and I am grateful for the experience. I love attending each of their classes and the persistence, discipline and courage these kids show in the face of difficulty just amazes me. We missed our first class today, unfortunately, and I feel as though my entire week will be off because of it. I look forward to growing along with my kids in the future at this studio!

I have studied at Kim's Hapkido for about 7 years. Before I had studied at a variety of disciplines. Master Kim has been by far the best at teaching, encouraging, and helping you perform to your best. His understanding of people and how to get the best of you is great. The workout is not only intensive, it is also insightful for inner strength. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting to really get the best for your mind, body, and soul.

Master Kim is the best martial arts instructor in the area. You will not be disappointed in all that is learned in this studio.

Master Kim is wonderful! Best activity my kids have EVER been involved in. Master Kim not only teaches self defense but incorporates "life" lessons into his teachings as well. He holds his students accountable, expecting them to work hard, be respectful and to think! The lessons my children are learning now will follow them for a lifetime. I'm so grateful our family found Kim's Hapkido.

I haven't been there in a long while but I started before it was Kim's Hapkido and Master Kim was still working there when I was 4 then I left around 5 and came back around 7 or 8 years old I loved it there I left the second time because my family was having problem with our grand parents and my fathers company was about to go bankrupt I would love to return one day. and Master Kim if you are reading this is Wade saying Hi, I left because my grandmother died my nona or grandmother died my grand father died and recently my nono died I hope to see you once again soon

This place is awesome, not just because of the martial art itself, but because of the teaching that Master Kim performs on the kids, self confidence, discipline, manners, reach higher goals, it does it all, my son has improved in all aspects of life since we signed him up, best decision ever made trusting Master Kim to teach our son.

Prices aren t posted. After a trial class they quoted my wife $250 per month for our sons membership plus a $550 deposit. This is ridiculous because most martial arts memberships are less than $150 per month.

Master Kim's lessons extend far beyond the studio. He is vested in every single student, and works hard to ensure that the values of Hapkido take root in their home and school lives. His approach is the perfect balance of being results-driven and fun. Master Kim, along with every instructor, really know how to connect with kids, keeping them involved and excited to learn. He and his staff do a great job of connecting with the students (of all ages), and they are able to tailor the classes to meet the needs, both physical and mental, of each individual. Classes vary in size, but always feel personal and inclusive; every student gets one on on time, every time.

It has been so wonderful to watch my daughter change and grow over the last year and a half. She has gotten stronger and more focused, both in Hapkido and in school. Her confidence has grown by leaps and bounds. I am so excited to watch her grow with Kim's Hapkido, and see where the world takes her.

My Son Emmanuel Loves Master Kim and his staff. The classes are awesome and the attention to academics is an added bonus.

Master Kim cares about his students just as much as a parent cares about their child. He enforces each child to respect their parents and peers. He teaches them to listen and always make great decisions. This studio by far is a great environment.

Kim's Hapkido has had a positive impact on my family's life over the past 18 years. He is competitively priced, and worth every dollar. Gone are the days when you can depend on your neighbors help to raise your children.

In today's Society it seems like every one has an entitlement mentality. "Me, me, me, it's all about me. Give me, give me, give me, my name is Jimmy." In the Hapkido Studio Master Kim's uses all his talents to help parents foster, and grow their children to be assets to our Society.

Students over the years with the help of Master Kim's teaching along with the parents willingness to cooperate, and reinforce, at home practice, have went on to become Pilots in the Armed Force, engineers, med school students, just about every walk of life you can think of his students are making a difference.

He is an awesome personality, he is very kind, but he is not soft. His stature is one that you are willing to respect, with it comes great Leadership.

So yes if I had to do it all over agin, 100 percent I would do it, at his competitive prices. You can not feed your children green baloney, and expect them to be healthy.

So if you have the mentality, that the world owes you something, then this may not be the place for you: however; if you care about your family being productive citizens, then men and women like Master Kim are who you want on your side in today's backwards society.

Master Kim and his staff are exceptional! So glad we found out about them. Highly recommend them.

Master Kim really helped to turn my stepson around. He was directionless and lazy when he got to us. Through hapkido and a new and more productive home environment the Teenager has just about worked himself into straight A's and has made honor roll for the first time in his life. I'd love to take all the credit but I'd be lying. Without Master Kim's help (working the snot out of the kid and getting his butt moving) there is no way he would be where he is now.

I took hapkido in Korean when I was younger and I loved it. When the groupon became available I immediately grabbed it for the teenager because I knew we needed to get him into activities. Well.. he's totally flourished. He just made green belt and there is definitely some very noticeable improvement in his form and power. When I think back on what this kid used to do and what he can do now, I'm blown away.

I got to do a bit of hapkido during the month of May (mom's get to go for free) and it's a crazy awesome workout. Plus this form of martial arts teaches you real life skills. I couldn't recommend this place more. If you want to work out and gain some combat (protect yourself) knowledge then definitely consider signing up. If you have a kid that needs some attitude adjusting and maybe needs to get in shape ... then this is definitely the place for you.

Master Kim is an AMAZING instructor, teacher and a mentor.

Our kids were taught discipline, empathy, leadership, values, confidence and character by Master Kim.

Prior to enrolling our kids, we visited MANY studios locally. To us, distance wasn't important. We saw right away from observing his class, he truly loved the kids and taught core values unlike other studios.

Having our kids enrolled with Master Kim for almost 11 years was one of the best decision we made as parents.

It is a great place for kids to learn martial arts for a good price I take my two kids there in two year they learned a lot from Master Kim.he is a great guy.

Master Kim is simply AWESOME! My son had some challenges with his motor skills and needed another source of therapy. Since Isaiah has been under Master Kim he has improved with his social & motor skills. I am 100% positive that Isaiah will continue to grow & improve while taking instruction from Master Kim.

Master Kim is the consummate professional. Each class is tailored to the attendees. He has a way of teaching children how to be responsible and accountable early on. Adults too.

Student review: I had the privilege to be Master Kim s student since the year 2000 (8yrs old) along with my sister. I can tell you Master Kim is nothing but the best! Never had one complaint or even questioned Master Kim s motives as it is nothing but genuine.

I felt really comfortable which is huge as a kid. I tried out other studios prior to Master Kim s and the atmosphere / instruction doesn t compare.

He is not one of those transactional businesses and out to get your money. I can say Master Kim s business is based on the foundation of relationship and transformation.

He not only challenged me physically but also mentally. This is where the relationship and transformation comes in. He was able to make it click in my stubborn head, he has a way of teaching that just makes sense...not to mention grasping my attention/interest.

Because Master Kim was able to connect/bond with my child mentality, I loved and respected him which in turn made me want to work harder/do my best. I learned how to think, be responsible, disciplined, along with other skills. For a child with ADHD it was a huge skill for me to learn but he held me accountable. Those skills really carried into my adulthood and led to a successful career!

I can tell you having Master Kim in my life has transformed me to be the person who I am today. I can honestly say as an 8yr old to now being 27yrs old, his program truly did improve my mind, body, and spirit.

I really can t put a price on the impact Master Kim s has had in my life.

His prices are very very very fair especially with everything you or your child will get out of it (if you look at the big picture).

As a parent I wouldn t care if he charged more because I can say he is worth and deserves every penny he makes! Nothing in this world is free. You can t put a price on quality.

My son has been a student w/Master Kim for almost a year and I could not be more pleased. Master Kim has a way w/young people. He cuts them no breaks and expects them to perform at their highest abilities and THEY DO! He develops a relationship with them and makes them WANT to be respectful, obedient and to try their absolute best. It is a wonderful confidence builder for all students, young and old. Master Kim is amazing. I absolutely love his teachings. I started to bring my 6 year old son to his classes a little over a year ago and he has been going ever since. His classes are very structured and disciplined which I think is very important for children. The classes have helped my son in all areas of his life. He is more focused and he has more confidence in himself.

I have been with this studio for nearly my whole life. Master Kim has been a figure of order and discipline in my life. The martial art of Hapkido and its system of self defense is only an added bonus to the self enrichment I have gained from my classes with Master Kim. I m 51 years old and in my third year of Hapkido study at Kim s Hapkido. I absolutely love this studio! Master Kim is a kind and patient teacher with high standards and expectations; he is also a mentor and friend to his adult students. While the Hapkido kicking, punching, and sparring drills provide a fantastic physical workout, the self-defense joint-lock techniques engage and challenge the problem-solving areas of the brain. Master Kim also has a vast knowledge of the histories and philosophies of Hapkido and other martial arts styles, and this knowledge informs the classroom atmosphere. After each class, I leave the studio with a sense of mental and physical well-being which stays with me for the remainder of the day. If you are at all interested in learning a martial art, this is the place for you.

It has been a wonderful experience with my kids. After being disappointed in other places in the city I found Master Kim's Hapkido and have been surprised on the great program it has, the enthusiasm of his students and de quality of all the teachers, it is by fat the best martial arts program for kids in the area.

My wife and I found Kim's Hapkido serendipitously...we were looking for a Kung Fu studio in Virginia Beach that had day classes, and hadn't found one when we found ourselves admiring the mats and workout equipment visible from Master Kim's front window. I had a friend who studied Hapkido in Massachusetts many years ago, but had no prior exposure to the style. I had trained for several years in Okinawa Goju-Ryu Karate, and consider myself something of a martial arts snob, but within a few minutes of meeting Master Kim, I was immediately impressed, and he continues to blow my mind with his knowledge and experience every time I make it in for training. Master Kim is absolutely the real deal, and he teaches body, mind and spirit- covering forms, meditation, fitness, discipline and practical self defense. I particularly enjoy coming in for evening classes and seeing how he is with the younger children that train here- he is both inspiring and motivating with all kinds of kids. This is not an easy task! Classes here are physically challenging, but inclusive. I think it is particularly impressive that he has many students of all ages, from sub-ten to septuagenarian, and all are included and challenged. If you are looking to be challenged in body and mind while learning a practical form of self defense (and having a ton of fun), I cannot recommend more highly that you check out Kim's Hapkido.

We Love Kim's Hapkido!

Master Kim creates an environment that is perfect for young minds to develop listening and understanding skills that provide Focus and Discipline. He is patient, understanding , and stern, fostering respect from his students and their parents. Neil looks forward to classes on Monday and Wednesday, and I am sure he would go 7 days a week if possible. Master Kim also has a great deal of support from his senior students who he involves in the coaching process. The only thing I would suggest would be bleachers to view the classes. Stop by and look through the window. I would definitely suggest enrolling your child or taking part yourself!

I have been a student of Master Kim for a few years. I like the way he show us the basic and how he tells us what we can do. I looking forward to rejoining his class again.

We highly recommend Master Kim to anyone looking into putting their kid or even themselves into martial arts. It is well structured, and not all about the kicks and punches. The kids and adults come out with tidbits of wisdom and knowledge that no other place around has. They will learn about goal setting and learn to become an independent person and more drawn to doing stuff their selves instead always having parents doing it for them. This is not your everyday run of the mill studio. It is a big family that will always have your back and an ear to listen to you.

It has been amazing for my kids. One is in weapons and is amazing. The other in regular hand to hand and is well versed.
