Khunta Restaurant – Thai, Issan & Seafood Review

I have been ordering for 1 year since I moved in the area. Last 2 times you guys have dropped the ball.
Overcooked Look Fun and tonight a very small amount with barely any Chicken.
Very Disappointed.

Delicious spring rolls! Buy your liquor at the Foodland next door and staff will uncork and provide glasses at no charge.

You have to try it...delicious..real tasty curries..good prices. You will soon make it your favourite diner.

Tasty Thai food on most counts. 9 times out of 10 everything is perfect. Still, every once in a while the cooking is uneven - saltier than it ought to be and with less complex seasonings.

The whole fish is the best I've ever had. Like, sooooooooooooooooooooooo, good.

Service slow and they charged us $444 !! When they corrected to $44 it was very casual and no apology.

Got takeout for their Panang Curry. It wasn't the best I've ever had. Maybe dining in would give a better experience. it was ready quickly and staff was friendly when I picked it up.

I was there very late so that might be why the customer service was kind of weird. The employees were kind of arguing about bookkeeping or something while I waited for my food, trying not to listen but being forced to listen. The food was ok but not great. Parking is often an issue in this shopping area so plan for that.

Everything is always delicious and the prices are great! Really authentic Thai food in the Mission!

Came with wife and daughter... Asked if 3 could order and eat in and if our one daughter could bring pasta in from dinner upstairs. They said no... Upstairs pasta place said we could come up there.. we still went ahead and ordered our food from the Thai place and the hostess was very rude and short with us... Hope the food is good... Will update post on those results!

This is by far the best Thai restaurant in Honolulu.
The Prad Ka Prow Moo is perfect and not too overly spicy.
The Som Tum is amazing. We chose to get this medium spicy. It was great until we got down to the juice on the bottom of the plate. The juice made me cry, this was the medium spicy. Full on pet pet spicy version would of killed me.
My favorite is their Nam Tok. It is so refreshing. The mint and onions with tender beef is the best Nam Tok I have ever had outside of Thailand.
More authentic than any other place.
The staff is great. My friend is not a seasoned Thai food connoisseur. So much so that the staff noticed him struggling and gave him a pint glass of water instead of the normal water glass...

Very best Thai restaurant on the island. They have some of Thai favorites such as pad Thai and Tom ka.

Place was cute, warm and welcoming. Food was tasty especially the sticky rice!

Although an old asian lady with a lot of make up, and a nose ring, was not welcoming, a tall man of high class was very polite abd made us feel very welcome. Love the guys attitude, old lady should get fired.

The fried chicken appetizer was crispy and tasty. We also had Larb (ground pork), Green Curry(chicken), and Drunken Noodles(beef). The dishes seemed a bit small. We had takeout in December and the portions seemed more generous. The Wok did not get hot enough for the beef to carmelize...overall an average drunken noodles at best. The Green Curry was also average at best. When the cook carmelize the eggplant prior to putting it in the green curry, it is much tastier. This restaurant's recipe does not include that step. The Larb was ok. Overall an ok dinner.

Great service. The staff really care about how the customers feel. Very positive vibe and the hospitality is amazing. Also the beat Thai food I've ever had! All the flavors were well balanced and distinct. We will be return eaters at this friendly spot

I ve ordered from this place 3 times since my quarantine started and got something different each time...green curry and summer roll, shrimp pad Thai, and vegetarian fried rice...each amazing. It s easy to mess up a to-go order but they killed it

Food was absolutely AMAZING! We ordered veggie pad Thai spicy (had a good amount of heat), tofu fried rice, tofu summer rolls, chicken curry and chicken spring rolls. Pad Thai had amazing flavor and was a great portion size. Summer rolls were light and refreshing. Chicken curry was tasty but lacked a little bit of heat.

Overall, will def be back!

Always a good place to have lunch and dinner or take out. The dishes are all very flavorful and presented well. I think we waited for a out 15 minutes for food to come to the table. Very nice service and welcoming. I definitely need to come back and try new and different plates.

I think the balance between taste and price is good.

I m very disappointed in this restaurant. We have been here plenty of times. The food is very good, and they are usually very understanding. But we went in today and the service was horrible. Went there to celebrate my husbands birthday with my family. We asked about the cooking methods because my daughter has a shrimp allergy and they never had a problem with it before. The server gave us such a hard time about it. He was rude and pushy. We weren t sure if was understanding what we were asking but he did. In the end we ended up canceling our order and walked out to go somewhere else. So disappointed because this was one of our favorites on this island and will never be coming back.

Rude server, Making fun of customer's I understand their native language which is rude, That mean, you all. You will see them making fun of you guys.

Save your money and go elsewhere. We ve been to multiple Thai restaurants in Honolulu and this one so far has been the worst. Pad Thai was pretty bland and the House combination appetizer was basically mall food. Wait staff acted like they were rushing people and took our plates and silverware without asking, thinking we were done.

Very tasty dishes, but mild is a little spicier than other similar restaurants.

Fried chicken here is great w/green curry. Scallops were excellent as well.

Delicious Thai food and great service. Prices for entries are awesome, very cheap eats for the location. A little confused by the high prices for the appetizers and soups - didn't try them due to the much higher cost.

The food was so delicious and the service was friendly. The fried chicken was so crispy and the pad kee mao was to die for, just the right amount of chewy and spicy. Yum yum yum yum yum.

Been stressed out with assignments and so I decided to take a break and eat out... Nice ambience and the staff was friendly. I really enjoyed the fish in green curry and sticky rice. It was my first time here and it def won't be my last!

Improved takeout service, always busy, small dining area can get very crowded not the greatest tables arrangement for the spaces. Should remove waiting bench inside and rearrange for better pick up. Great food.

We were crazy looking for vegetarian restaurants in Honolulu and we found this place in google recommendations. They have a big menu with lots of different options. Everything on the menu can be switch to a vegetarian meal... instead of meat you can ask for tofu. By far the best meal we had in Oahu. When we went there we had the best waiter... so friendly and nice! Its really recommended even if you are not vegetarian!

Extremely poor customer service. We ordered to go and in the middle of taking our order she turned and walked away without saying anything. The food was decent but lacked flavor.

Food is great. Service is terrible. The young woman who thinks she's a princess should find another job instead of serving her attitude to the customers. There so many Thai restaurants in the area. Support someplace else.

Great Pad Thai (sweeter than most places) and awesome Pad Seeyou. I love spicy food...which most places cannot meet my level of crazy...but their house-made ground chili did the trick. If I lived here, I would be a regular.

Parking is sometimes hard but the food is always worth the hassle.

Everything here is delicious. I like my dishes mild-medium and they do it exactly as I ask...not too mild but not not too hot. Every dish I have ordered has always been tasty and fresh. I've ordered from almost everything on the app menu to soup to noodles, stir fry, fish and of course the curries. My favorite for awhile has been the evil princess with pork with sticky rice. It's enough to share or if it's just me it will last me at least for 2 meals. The place is small and clean. The wait staff are friendly and I have no problem with communication with them whether I'm picking up take out or eating in the restaurant. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because I was shorted $50 but I take partial blame in that because I should have not been late picking up my food. It was already closed. The owner was waiting for me and I assume she was in a hurry to leave and thought it was a $50 that I had given to her. Otherwise if you're craving Thai you definitely have to try this place!

Ordered a take out. They said it was gonna wait 20-25 min. Waited outside for 40 min to give them extra time before we go back inside and check on our orders. Time past, we check back in and still wasn't ready. Finally, they give our take out. We take it home and open it. Come to find out they gave us the wrong order. We had to drive back and had to wait another 40 min or so for our orders to be ready. When we were waiting, we also noticed the yellow card on their window. food temperature cross contamination

This place is great! The food is delicious, the service is good, and it's BYOB. The curry is amazing! The parking lot is very busy around rush hour. Expect to wait for seats during high traffic hours if you have a party 5 or more.

Lost a customer again, I would like to call for takeout but they never answer. I call before hand because they run out of things.

Hands down my favorite Thai food on island! It has so much flavor! I always get the Pad Kee Mao and I wish I knew how to cook it because every time it's bomb. The service is great and consistently quick. It's also a great place cause you get 5% back when you register your credit card on Yelp! I've gotten many of their other items and really you just can't go wrong.

This place is amazing. The staff were very nice, and food was very hot and tasty even though it was heavily customizable for spice level and I substituted tofu for meat. Price was very reasonable also. Highly recommend.

IMHO best Thai in east Honolulu! Get the drunken noodle, evil princess, & fish patties!

We had the stuffed chicken wings, seafood pad thai and because I can never resist, summer rolls (with shrimp). Utterly delish. Fast service for a lunch hour. A+ recommend!

They didn't pick up the phone at 7:30 even though it closes at 9:30. They dishes are delicious but their service is slow. I ended up driving to the resturant and ordering. I still go here but they really need to answer the phone when needed

Went for a late dinner, around 8pm. Delicious, well-balanced, flavorful. Wonderful service. Take-out available. We had soup: Tom Yum Tofu, medium heat. House Special: Sweet Chili Scallops. Vegetarian Ala Carte: Pad Ped Tofu. Noodle: Pad Thai - vegetable. Looking forward to dining there again.
